NFL Talk

Oh trust me, I was right there with you yelling at the TV questioning that bad call. It clearly should of been Miami's ball and made it game over. They gave the Steelers another chance at the ball and that was the end of that. As for that Superbowl, I watched bits & parts of it, but I do remember lots of people mentioning how that was a lopsided game in favor for the Steelers, I can't make too much evaluation on that one.

Well... on a lighter note.

Crazy week this week. The Raiders racking up 59 points in 3 quarters was flat out impressive, and McFadden with 4 TD's (who I forgot to start in the fantasy league; d'oh!). I 100% disagree with the call in the Steelers-Dolphins game as well. I think the Bills are gonna squeeze out a win or 2 in the coming weeks, as opposed to going winless like I thought they would. They've hung with some tough teams. Impressive game by DeAngelo Hall too with 4 INT's on Cutler. But it doesn't help that Cutler's an idiot.

Speaking of idiots, the Chargers were not prepared this week AT ALL. Even ignoring the fumble by the rookie WR who left the ball on the ground, there were boneheaded plays after boneheaded plays. Norv Turner needs to go NOW. I've wanted him gone since he was hired. He's had a reputation of not preparing his team for games properly. The only bad news is they play in the AFC West, where unfortunately Turner still has a chance to save his job.

NFL Sunday comes to a conclusion with the Saints beating the Steelers at home after last week's embarassing 20 point loss to the Browns. They looked like a new team out there. They did take a while to get things rolling, but once they did, they scored two TD's from it. Both defenses were stellar all game long, what an amazing catch by Lance Moore towards the end there to finish Pit off. This was a very entertaining and hard fought game.

I'd have to say the Jets getting shut out like that at home was quite a surprise, to say the least. I don't know if that was the Green Bay defense or just the Jets dropping a bunch of catchable balls thrown their way. Regardless, very impressive win by the Packers.

The Chargers beat the Titans at home, Vince Young got hurt once again. Chris Johnson dropped a crucial 4th & 2 possesion to put the Titans away for good. Titans are really going to be dangerous in the playoffs, assuming they make it, which you think they would.

The Patriots win yet once again. Now sitting pretty at 6-1. Not too bad for a young team, atleast on defense. Minnesota is pretty much done themselves, just like the Cowboys. What a shame, both teams have amazing talent on both sides of the ball and they play like this, the beauty of the NFL.

What an intense OT game between the Chiefs/Bills. Who woulda thunk it? Chiefs win it with 5 seconds remaining with a FG. Bills play hard, they will eventually win a couple of games, they aren't as bad as their record indicates. The Chiefs look pretty good, efficient run team and play solid defense.

The Raiders come back and put up another offensive display against the Seahawks this time. Something has been working for them these last two weeks, I don't know whether it's who their facing or what, but it's something different from Oakland, atleast in these last two weeks.

The Dolphins go to 4-0 on the road, while being 0-3 at home. I'm sure they will put it together, they have a nice team, whether they make the playoffs will be the question.

Tampa Bay goes to 5-2 with another road win against Arizona. The Cards gave em all they could handle, but Tampa kept their composure and finished the game. I still don't think their a playoff team, but kudos to them playing hard every week and making drastic improvement on both sides of the football.

The 49ers win their second game in a row against the Broncos in London. I don't know what team is worse.

The Lions Matthew Stafford returned against the Skins and he threw for 4 TD's, 3 of which went to Calvin Johnson. Lions can sure put up points, if they get their defense going just a tad and get a decent running game they can be a team next year or two to look out for. Their fun to watch, that's for sure. The Skins on the other hand, are WAY too up & down. You don't know what your going to get out of them week in and week out. I don't like Shanahan benching McNabb, even if he is going to start him next week anyways. That's just not the way to go, McNabb is your QB and you traded for him, live and die with his results.

One game remaining, the Texans vs the Colts on Monday Night Football. Should be an interesting game between two division teams, no Dallas Clark for Indy as well as Tony Gonzalez. Peyton is going to be short on weapons, can Houston run the ball like they did in their first meeting back in Week 1? Stay tuned!

Pats knock Favre out of the game and finish the day with the best record in the league. Couldn't really get any better except for those pesky Raiders keep winning and screwing up that first rounder headed the Pats way.

Poor Randy, he was practically in tears yesterday because he ran himself out of NE. At least I can enjoy that 3rd rounder while that Raiders #1 sinks out of the top 10 and beyond.

How does the football waiver work? Don't crap teams get first right to sign him? I suspect he goes to Denver. Otherwise yeah, he'd play with the Pats for the minimum. But I don't think they want the distraction, look at what they did yesterday with a bunch of "no names".

It's based on record, which means the Pats have last dibs. And I'm sure they'd rather let him clear waivers and then sign him for the minimum than pick up the $3.2 million left on his contract. But I doubt he makes it through 30 other teams. He's Randy F. Moss.

So yeah, Denver. McDaniels is well on his way to being out on his butt and he and Moss have good history.

The guy is a headcase. He doesn't even care about football anymore apparently. Who cares where he goes, wherever he does go, he's going to throw a hissy fit over something and won't produce anyways.

I'm not sure that is fair. I was ok with him being sent packing because I saw him taking plays off and he had a few highly questionable drops but also because I think that he became too tempting a target for Brady which lead to a number of 3 and outs. I think all of those factors combined for him to be a horrible fit in Minnesota with a rapidly aging Favre pining for his glory days and I said so the moment that trade went down. There's no reason to think he can't contribute on the right team. Is he worth breaking the bank over next year? No. And that's ultimately something the Pats saw and shipped him off while they could still salvage a 3rd rounder out of it.

The Pats did good, they got a 3rd rounder for him and still have Oakland's first round draft pick. It's no wonder they always have productive players on their team and why their always good, it also helps that they know how to draft. I'm jealous of that organization, I wish my team could be half as successful as that team.

Nobody wanted Moss but the Titans. I guess Merriman thinks he will get playing time in Buffalo, kudos to him & best of luck Shawn.

Harrison fined for the third time already this season. Is he going to throw a tantrum? Is he a ticking time bomb waiting to explode? Hmmm....

I don't know how true that is. It would be fair to say that no one with a worse record than the Titans wanted Moss, but there's no way to know that no one after them in the waiver list would have grabbed him. I'm surprised that the Dolphins didn't have a claim in on him, but there were eight other teams behind Tennessee that might have claimed him, not counting the Pats.

Those are the reports I heard on TV, that's what I'm basing it on. Take it with a grain of salt, I don't blame them, who really wants him? Pats ehhh...I don't see it, I don't see where he can help a team. He plays so half assed and it shows, who knows what his problem is. Is he that bi polar?

I thought I read that they were the only ones expressing interest.

Yep:

ESPN.com's John Clayton reported Tennessee was the only team to submit a claim for Moss.

Yeah but other teams may have been interested but hoping he cleared so they could negotiate a lower salary. I firmly believe receivers are the biggest bunch of spoiled brats in the game but its tough to plug them in mid season in a new offense and expect them to be able to hit timing patterns, etc. All Moss would be good for at this point is "go deep" and 3.2 million is a lot to spend for "go deep" and probably less than 50-50 odds of retaining him next year.

There's going to be some interesting games for tomorrow. I don't get why Dallas/Packer game didn't get taken off Sunday Night, but whatever. Texans/Chargers should be a shootout. Chiefs/Raiders should be a fun smash mouth type of game. Eagles/Colts with the return of M. Vick. Dolphins/Ravens another game where it could be a defensive minded game with a lot of running involved, though both teams have explosive receivers.

Lastly, I feel sorry for those who have to watch my Bengals get killed on national television on Monday Night Football against the Steelers. That game should be over by halftime. o_0

I don't think they flex the Sunday night games until week 11 when all teams will have played 10 games.

i live in cincinnati so i get every bengals game, i think they may actually pull of the upset against the steelers, the bengals have so much talent but for some reason it just hasn't come together this season. The chiefs/raiders game was a hell of a game, not happy with the outcome, but it was a good game.....too many penalities by both teams but the chiefs committed them in the clutch and it came back to haunt them, oakland deserved to win that game

To tell you the truth, I just want to tank the rest of the games and lose em all from here on out. That would mean that horrible coach would be gone along with the awful OC coordinator and get rid of TO, Chad & Palmer. I want to just start fresh, draft a young QB, WR's & DE's. As for the Raiders/Chiefs game, that was a nice comeback by the Raiders, they were down all game long and come back with some nice plays, they are going to be a fun rivalry to watch for sure in the future.

First off, Dallas Cowboys, really? I don't know where to start with them, I would be typing for half an hour about what they need to do but I won't bother, just tank the rest of the way for the draft.

Boy, do the Giants look good or what? They destroyed the Seahawks, who are usually competitive at home. Though they did not have their starting QB so that didn't help either. They look like the best team in the NFC, easily. Good pass rush/run game and a lot of weapons on offense, dangerous!

The Chargers win without Antonio Gates, Nanee, Davis & Floyd. Shows you how good Phillip Rivers is, that guy is just amazing. I don't like his throwing form but he gets the job done, it also helps that Texans play zero defense and they are slowly imploding. They were 4-2 and lost two in a row and they are not the real deal as I thought they would be.

For the second time in a row, the Browns beat up on a playoff contender, first the Saints, then today they easily take care of the Pats with a good run game and solid D. They will be a good team next year, ala the Chiefs.

The Lions are always in their games, they too will be much better once Matt Stafford can stop getting injured and stay on the field. The Lions should of won that game, it's the inexperience of closing games out what did them in the end.

The Ravens took care of the Dolphins and showed that they are the more physical team. Miami just can't get into the end zone, they do everything else fairly well, they just don't have enough weapons.

Atlanta continues to win at home and stand at 6-2, they will most likely face off with the Giants and possibly Saints for the NFC crown.

The Cardinals blow a 21-10 lead and let the Vikes come back and take the game from them. Minnesota just looks bad, they don't do anything impressive at all really. Where is Jared Allen this year? What the hell happened to that guy who would average 12+ sacks a season. He is the biggest disappointment so far on that team.

The Bills remain as the only winless team in the league. I do like that they play hard, sooner or later they have to win a game or two, it's too hard to top the 2008-09 Lions.

Vick and D. Jackson return and right away the Eagles go up 10-0. Vick looks good and he really has good chemistry with Desean Jackson. They didn't run enough with McCoy today, but they did a good job of not giving the game away.

One game left, Pit vs Cin on Monday night football. I am sorry for all of those who have to watch a beatdown.

Pretty good games this weekend, with some close OT games. I think the Bengals-Steelers game is gonna be closer than everyone thinks too.

How's this for a stat....Punts blocked: Chargers 5, Rest of NFL 5. Ridiculous

Good games, sadly quite a few turned or almost turned on some really unfortunate calls that are part of this new safety policy. I really do appreciate the need to keep players safe and I know you just can't even attempt to judge intent but for heaven's sake some of these just don't seem right, the defense needs to be allowed to play at the end of a game too.

Pats... simply embarrassing yesterday. I think they looked past this game forgetting that the Rat still has all the motivation in the world to beat BB.

Don't you just love the Colts, pdx? In all honesty, the roughing call was horrible. No defense for it. But there were so many missed plays in that game, and that awful Philly crowd, plus Asante Samuel being an idiot while a Colts receiver was being immobilized, that I can't express any sympathy for the Eagles or their fans. Sorry.
