NFL Playoffs pick 'em contest

#31
Ok, I am officially backing out of this playoff prediction thread, both this one and all future ones. If I remember correctly, I got most of my picks wrong last year, and 0 for 4 in the first round this year.I'm assuming I put some curse on all these teams, so I'm gonna let things play out as they should :p
Yeah, I went 0-4 too. Craaaaazy.

PurpleHaze 3

As a reminder Wild Card Weekend was 1 point for correct pick and zero points wrong pick. This weeks round 2 points will be awarded for each correct pick.

2 points for the divisional round, 4 points for a conference championship and 8 points for Super Bowl.

There will be bonus points and/or tiebreakers for the Super Bowl predictions.

It's not too late to join and make predictions going forward. As you can see points escalate each week culminating in a whopping 8 pts for picking correct Super Bowl winner.

Please make game predictions at least 5 minutes before any game starts with this weekends NFL Divisional Playoff Schedule:

New Orleans 38
Arizona 30

Drew Brees, a rocking Superdome, Saints hard hitting D healthy as it's been all year - too much for Arizona even though they've played well on the road this season.

Indianapolis 16
Baltimore 13

Hard game to pick mainly because Ravens are still mad over 17-15 loss at Indy earlier this season and would love to take it out on them now. Flacco can't get into a shootout with Payton and in a tight D struggle upset certainly possible.

Minnesota 24
Dallas 20

Another loud dome but Dallas beat New Orleans late in the season at their deafening dome. Minny when they're right has too many dangerous O weapons and can put too much D pressure on Romo to lose this one.

San Diego 27
NY Jets 17

San Diego is loaded with very tall receivers which Jets all-world CB Revis can take away one. They also have 6'5" TE by the name of Gates and their QB Rivers is just as tall. Chargers running game is non-existent compared to Jets awesome ground attack. Jets blitz could keep them hanging around, at least for awhile. Only problem is, their rook QB and company may be playing from behind most of the day.

New Orleans offense will be too much.

Indy 24
Baltimore 20
Indy will overcome their usual one and done with a sterling performance from Captain Playoffs including a 4 quarter comeback in the 2 minute drill. :)

Dallas 28
Minnesota 21
I know Dallas is well beyond the fool me twice stage but they cooled off the hottest team in the league 2 weeks in a row and the Vikings seem to be fading as Favre has taken over the playcalling.

San Diego 24
Jets 17
Eh, reverse luck, superstition, football gods be damned. there's just no way I'm picking both the Jets and Colts in one weekend.

I'm just gonna make my picks, no analysis, because I obviously don't know anything about football.

Cowboys over Vikings, 24-16
Saints over Cardinals, 34-31
Chargers over Jets, 17-13
Colts over Ravens, 28-13

This weekend's playoff games really haven't been that exciting. Viking are up by 30 points against Dallas; New Orleans beat Arizona by 31 points and Indy beats Baltimore by 17 points.

Maybe Chargers vs Jets game will be exciting.

I must admit, I am looking forward to the Vikings vs Saints.

Man, the Chargers vs Jets game is boring. Score is 7 to 3 Chargers at the end of the 3rd quarter. I actually did a few errands and came back and still same score. <yawn>

I'm so embarassed to be a Chargers fan right now. Superbowl contenders? Wow. What a crap game by basically the whole team.

P.S., Kaeding=Vanderjagt 2.0. Choke job

Jets vs. Vikes in Superbowl? You never know... the Saints Colts would be great.
I don't have a routing interest in any of 4 teams left in the tournament, but I'd be happy to see Peyton Manning try for another ring as New Orleans born and raised dude up possibly against very team he pulled for as a kid back when his dad Archie was Saints outstanding QB.

Meanwhile, never-ending saga of Bret Farve rolls on to what end I don't know. I do know his ears will definitely be ringing in this NFC championship Superdome battle (probably sound echoing all the way over to his Gulfport, Mississippi hometown merely 60 miles away) as Nawlins Nation and Drew Brees try to perform a Hu Dat Voodoo Hex on those Vikings:eek::D

I'd prefer to see Colts (yes, really Supes) and Saints. My head will explode if its Jets vs. Vikings. Its sad because I think I could root for the Vikes minus the Favre mess but now the Saints are the feel goodiest story of the year for me.

I would not mind if the Jets got in and were utterly humiliated in the SuperBowl though, the way the Redskins and Niners smashed the Broncos or the Bears did to the Pats.

Every decade the conferences have taken turns thoroughly dominating the SB wins total, while this is theoretically a bubble year since it was the 09 season, it is time for the NFC to go on a run.

At this point, I'm convinced it will be the Saints versus the Colts in the Superbowl.

The Jets/Colts game will be interesting though. Ryan has his guys playing some good ball right now.

Actually, Vanderjagt was money on big kicks before 2005. Him missing that field goal against the Steelers was a shocker, but he was never the same after that.

I thought he blew a few other playoff chances but he was still the highest percentage kicker in the game at that point (though obviously kicking on turf helps). The last time I remembered Kaeding blowing a kick was also a playoff game a few years ago. Some guys just don't have it in the clutch. Vinatieri was a pretty mediocre kicker even in his best years with the Pats, he just made the ones you remember.

Colts over Jets, 20-7
Saints over Vikings, 37-27

Edit: Changed my score prediction in the Colts/Jets game from 16-10, just to be different.
