NFL 2023-2024 Thread

Aside from the obvious Bill to Cowboys, what are the odds on Harbaugh? I know Cowboys/9ers is like an 80s/90s thing but I bet he'd love to stick it to them.

At least if that happens I won't have to worry about where Coach Fisch will jump to.

I don't want Harbaugh anywhere near the Cowboys (or my 2nd favorite team for that matter, the Raiders).

You can have a proven winner who is a jerk that you hated elsewhere or you can have Josh McDaniels or Kliff Kingsbury or some other surefire disappointment.

I just want someone who possess a playbook in the modern era, and not one from the freaking 90s.

Honestly, at this point, I'd probably be more comfortable poaching one of the defensive (preferable) or offensive coordinators with massive upside and seeing what they can produce out there before I throw big bucks at someone like Bill or Jim.

But...

It's Dallas, and it's Jerry. So I won't be surprised (nor will I overly complain) if, at the end of the day, I turn on a Cowboys game and see a high profile head coach running up and down the sidelines yelling at the officials for not throwing a flag, or for throwing a flag for that matter.

For whatever its worth the Patriots massive failing was the offensive line, and apparently the "word" is that Bill actually wanted to use his FRPs on O-Line and receiving corps and draft Davis Mills at QB. Their defense was a fortress for most of the last two years, it has been entirely on the inability of the offense to do anything with the ball. If you got Bill (and Josh) and the roster doesn't turnover too much sky is the limit for 2-3 years. Then good luck.

Also, need I mention that, if Bill comes to Dallas, either he will have to agree to having Jerry down on the field looking over him at all times, telling him how to run the show, or Jerry will have to agree to just be an owner, sit up in the owner's box, and let Bill and his coaching staff actually coach the team.

The above can also be said about Jim.

Sadly, it can also be said about any other head coaching candidate out there.

Apparently Robert Kraft has turned into Jerry Jones over the last 5-6 years so I imagine Bill would be willing to put up with it for 2-3 years just to show he can win without Brady.
 
All year it's felt like this season was leading up to a Niners-Cowboys showdown in the NFC championship game. Even before the Eagles nosedived down the standings they didn't have the defensive numbers that Dallas and San Francisco had so it was hard for me to take them seriously as a top 5 team. Ultimately though, as a Niners fan, I always want to play the Packers in the Playoffs so this is a best-case scenario. That's really the only football rivalry that I actually care about.

I would be shocked if the Packers play as well defensively vs 49ers offense as Cowboys. Even without Prescott's 2 interceptions, I think the Packers still win the game albeit it would've been much closer. I think the analysts have it right, the 49ers will be running the ball alot more than the Cowboys did , and the Packers will have to pick up their run-defense. Elijah Mitchell has been running well of late and looks ready to contribute.
Rain is called for all weekend - dislike watching elements game. Organizations all ought have retractable roofs
 
That boys meltdown was kinda surprising, until you step back and see that its the playoffs, and its Dak.

Only way we lose this packer game is if the 49ers beat themselves. Pound the hell out of them with CMC and hopefully purdy isn't rusty after 2 weeks off. The packers will try to force the niners to stray away from the run game.
 
I think we've already seen multiple times this season what happens when we underestimate opponents. It's still the playoffs and single elimination so everyone better come into this game ready to play hard. I'd still give the Packers a fighting chance -- considering they have underdog status and history to play for. But obviously it's really on San Francisco to take care of business and play at the level they're capable of.

To be fair, if there’s one thing Kyle Shanahan loves more than coughing up huge leads in playoff games, it’s utterly humiliating his old prodigies.
 
Against this field, if Shanahan doesn’t make the Super Bowl dude needs to go into next season on the hot seat. At some point it’s put/up or shut/up.

Losing Super Bowls is forgivable. He absolutely needs to make it this year following these upsets.

The Niners will not have a better chance to WIN the Super Bowl. NO BETTER CHANCE. Zero excuses this year. Play up to what they are capeable of, no one left in the playoffs can beat the 49ers. And if we win the coin flip we better not give the ball to GB!

Absolutely not. Again, just look at how BAD a lot of these coaches are in some of these huge playoff games makes me thank our lucky stars we have Shanny at the helm.

But yeah, this is our best opportunity to go win. Everything is perfectly lined up from a player stand-point of having the best talent on the field and we're getting some help to knock out some of the better teams in our conference. It'll be hard to find better context than we currently have.
