This Browns game has all the makings of a trap game to me. After the big win over Dallas, Niners hitting the road to Cleveland with the Browns coming off their bye trying to bounce back from an awful loss to their divisional rival.

Couple that with rain in the forecast, and it sets up one of those sloggy mudbowls, like the Niners 9-0 win over Washington in 2019, that neutralizes the pass game, mucks up offensive momentum entirely, and forces a lot of uncharacteristic turnovers.

Didn't see the forecast - that is disappointing - I disdain watching football (and sports) generally in weather.

The thing you have to factor in here is not having Jimmy G at QB, an erratic QB in the first place who would grow exponentially so whenever field conditions were less than ideal.

but I thought Purdy was only successful because Kyle was scheming guys open?
Brock Purdy has been insane. We're only in week 5, but he's been playing like a top 5 QB.. arguably the best one of the crop. At the end of the season, there'll probably be some type of correction and he might end up 8-15, but it doesn't matter because he'll be the one to hoist up the Lombardi trophy. This is really feeling like our year. I know it might be completely unreasonable, but anything short of a Super Bowl win would be a very disappointing season. We've come so close too many damn times, but this is the first time where we can say that our offense is not being carried by our defense. This is the best offense we've ever had in 2+decades. It's time to capitalize having a top 5 squad on both sides of the field.

The only thing I'm worried about this season with the Niners is that they're off to such a good start that the players, the front office, and the fans are already starting to adopt that "Super Bowl or bust mentality". I think that mentality is a good thing to have close to the playoffs when the players are already battered and tested and confidence can be the difference in advancing or not but in Week 5 there's way too much that can go wrong to start looking past the next game.

I think part of that mentality stems from seeing how close we were last year to punching a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. We were the hottest team in the league that had "under dog movie script" written all over it. But the way our season ended left such a sour taste in everyone's mouth including non-9er fans. If Purdy was healthy and we lost by 3pts or 30pts, everyone would've just accepted defeat and just moved onto the next season. But the fact that we didn't even have a chance to compete was absolutely devastating. I think this year's 9er team is playing with with a lot of desire to resume where they left off of because they were robbed of the opportunity to compete.

Through 5 weeks, we've looked just THAT much better than every opponent. Who knows, maybe we've just played really bad teams, but this year feels special. It seems like everyone is completely on the same page from FO to players. All of the guys have bought into winning a Super Bowl this year. Whether it's through unselfishness (Deebo/Aiyuk/Kittle understanding that they won't have big games every week), or 7th round/undrafted young players like Ronnie Bell and JP Mason stepping in to fill big role when called upon. Everyone has been contributing to these wins from all 3 facets: offense, defense, and special teams. Outside of kick offs, we haven't had a real weakness anywhere. Expectations are sky high because the 9ers have set a standard from top down.

The only thing stopping us are injuries. 5 games into the season might be a bit premature to dial up the Super Bowl, but the truly great teams will answer the call.
