NFL 2020-21 Season

Vegas now has the Niners as the clear favorites to get Stafford. LETS GO!

Kick Jim to the curb. Or send him to the Pats for a 5th.

Now it’s back to Indi.
This is going to be a long offseason, and all I care about is Garoppolo being gone.

The LOLTexans hired David Culley, a 65 year old guy who’s been around the league forever but has yet to ever even call plays.

I’m sure Watson is thrilled with the hire.

Interesting. I'd take Stafford all day over Goff but given the miles that Stafford has on him 2 first round picks and a third make it a pretty steep price.

Whoever lands top 5 NFL QB (right now) Deshawn Watson wins billion dollar lottery, probably couple Super Bowls at least. If I was Houston instead of dealing with Jets or Miami, I'd do whatever possible to get JAX #1 (Trevor Lawrence) which could happen to set Urban Meyor up for immediate success instead of waiting couple years at least. Niners unfortunately no chance in the Watson sweepstakes.

I think Watson is overrated - his statistics look good this year, but with Houston he is not a winner in high pressure games. He takes alot sacks and has a big tendency to hold the ball too long. He may be a slight upgrade over Garrapolo, but he hasn't impressed me when I watch him. He reminds me of Cam Newton to a certain degree. Rather I think the Niners should draft a QB in the 1st few rounds..

LMAO slight upgrade.

Jimmy is a bottom-third QB. Watson is far superior.

I'd rather have Jimmy than Watson on the Pats but I am hoping they draft a QB or try to reclaim one of the other younger guys who are getting ditched. If they want Jimmy, I hope they wait for SF to cut him because I don't want him at what y'all are paying him.

He's better but not superior, what has he led or won? Nothing.....he wouldn't improve the 49ers as you believe. He couldn't win when it counted when Houston had better defense and Hopkins. He wouldn't move the needle enough, and he certainly wouldn't be worth a bunch of picks

Houston is one of the worst run franchises in sports and he spent his career playing under Bill O’Freakin’Brien. It’s a wonder he’s won as much as he already had.

Whoever gets Watson is getting a top-5 QB, the franchise will be better for it, and they’ll be thrilled to have him.

I sort of agree with both of you. Houston has been lousy with their QBs and Watson still has to prove it. No reason to think he won't in the right situation.

The 49ers are a competent QB away from opening their window right back up. Watson is far more than competent. Watson with Shanahan and the weapons? Oh man... that sounds good.

Instead we’re currently stuck with an injury prone statue with zero pocket awareness who can’t throw the ball past 10 yards. He isn’t winning anything in this division.

How can he be top 5 QB - he's 1-2 in playoffs in his career......he has been a league leader in sacks because he holds the ball too long! Watch his games against better teams and defenses.... win a few more playoff games as starter, and then maybe we'll talk. Watson is a top 15. maybe around #11 or #12 He's not a horrible QB, but he's no savior either .....a top 5 QB's team doesnt go 4-12 in the regular season like this year. The buck stops and ends with the QB - the most pivotal position in football. Instead of manning up and playing through - he demands a trade - unprofessional. That's blaming others around you for your own failures instead of taking ownership for yourself.

Watson is under a similarly ridiculous contract to Garrapolo, only he has more years left.
A straight swap for 49er QB without picks or maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder, yeah maybe, but not including multiple high picks....Rams made a bad trade earlier today. 49ers are gonna have to live with Garrapolo at least 1 more season with a rookie understudy hopefully. I'm glad they didn't go after Stafford, and wouldn't want Watson for similar amount of picks. Need to be patient.

If all it took was two firsts for Deshaun Watson nearly every team in football would be banging down Houston’s door wondering how Bill O’Brien worked his way back into making personnel moves. Watson’s a superstar.

Superstar term is thrown around too loosely - win something or get close consistently. "Nearly" every team is hyperbole. I'd say around half the teams. Do you think 49ers win last SuperBowl with Watson as QB? I dont. He helped build a 24 pt lead then collapsed in a head-to-head game against the Chiefs.

Watson is a good QB but no "superstar" yet - that goes to the current true top 5's (Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Brady, Brees) Watson's an Eche II QB right now along with a bunch of others.

Niners 100% win the Super Bowl with Watson. All they needed was their QB to make ONE PLAY in the 4th. And Jimmy couldn’t do it. Jimmy had one of the worst fourth quarters in Super Bowl history.

Looking at what the Texans apparently want according to socials, I try to meet them in the middle.

2 firsts, 2 thirds, & Dre Greenlaw.

On the SuperBowl.....49ers got beat going away badly....in hindsight, Garrapolo would've needed 2 TD scoring drives, not 1. And one play wasn't even close to the difference in the game. Watson had no answer earlier in the playoffs with a 24 pt spot (a bigger spot).....he's not gonna do much better with the 49ers. The Chiefs destroyed the 49ers in the 4th quarter on both sides of the ball. Fantasy to think a moderately better QB would've made a big splash in the result.

On the trade idea don't like two 1sts - Thats too much.......not worth it - maybe one 2nd + one third + two 4th/5th + Greenlaw + Garrapolo......two1sts is similar to the kind of mistake the Rams just made for Stafford granted Watson is alot younger. I think better to have the 49ers trade up in the draft with current and future picks for a current prospect they like as an understudy.

I’m ducking out. We’re not even on the same book in this argument. I find it laughable to think Watson is only a moderate upgrade on JimmyG. No way.

Laugh away - yes moderately - as in the difference between a QBR of around #15 and #9, give or take. That's around 6 slots - a moderate expected gain in performance. - ie approx 8-10 QBR points - on an 85 curved scale - call it a generous 15% better in expected rating.

Watson is amongst the sack leaders each year he's played....he comes with his own problems - I find it laughable to think he's earned a top 5 or "superstar" label with 1 playoff win. He's overrated. And BTW to claim 100% show's a cavalier disregard for reasoning and analysis. Yes I know, you dont wanna think about it. Good Day.
