Nets may take Greg Monroe

Even more reason for geoff to pick Monroe. I think he traded Spencer away just because he thinks you can't have TWO soft finesse big man... But one is okay!!!! You always hear Jerry talking About how the league is changing to more mobile centers and less slower bigger centers.... I've already accepted it that were gonna draft Monroe. It sucks. But only for a lil while until he starts provning us all wrong on the court.

We had one soft center, Spencer Hawes. We traded him. Where is the logic in selecting Monroe? Im about to go on another vacation until draft day. The fact that we just traded our only soft bigman should be a clear indication that the Kings arent about to waste their #5 pick on another softy. Petrie isnt picking Greg monroe, no way no how.

We traded one away so that way we don't have two soft finesse big man. Trade for dalembert who is the exact opposite of Monroe

Can someone please tell me why the Kings would want to posture that they want Monroe when they really don't? I don't get it. The only thing I can come up with is that do want Cousins and they don't want some team to trade in front of them to get Cousins, so they make it sound as if they want Monroe. Any other scenarios?

Next we'll hear that NJ is going to draft Shaq's son's future NBA playing rights and that Philly traded the Eagles the #2 pick for a superbowl ring.

I have officially tuned out all speculation until draft day.

Who has been posturing? I haven't seen anyone in the Kings' FO saying they are leaning toward Monroe. I have heard that he looked good in his workouts. The same thing was said after the workouts of Cousins and Favors. The only people (other than fans) who have been talking about Monroe as a King is the media. One thing I have learned since Petrie came to the Kings is that the media never gets any news from Petrie & co. about who they are going to draft.

I will believe this one when I see it. They would get lynched just in time for a new building with a new owner trying to make a splash, and just when they are trying to woo a top FA? Yeah right.

On the other hand given that the Nets pick third, I can't imagine who they would be trying to psych out with such a rumor. Why would they care who goes #5 or #6?

I dont think anyone in the Kings FO has indicated that they like Monroe more than everyone else. I think that perception is entirely due to this site lol. One person puts up an article that says something like," We were impressed by so and so's workout..." and then everyone jumps on like lemmings.

Its got little to do with this site, and everything to do with a decade of preference for the soft/skilled guy that we are only now getting over. Everybody around the net thinks we want Monroe too, because he's a "Petrie" pick. As is usual with national perception, it lags behind reality by a year or two, and we were so buried in the back of the closet last season that few people noticed our sudden change of tone.

Yup, youre right. I think I actually said that yesterday. I blame it on TDOS .

I'm pretty sure the Nets can only take one player at #3. I'm not seeing the point in hourly press releases about the latest player they will take. It sort of dfeats the purpose of getting offers from teams to trade up. Just wait a few and they will move on to the next "it" guy.

This is fun. And I have to give Petrie credit for what he does. He does it well. I haven't the faintest idea what he's going to do. When I read this thread just now the first thing I thought - the Kings are going to draft Johnson.

Anyway, no matter what happens Petrie has done it again. (Four bits says it's going to be Cousins.)

Has done what?

If anything its Minnesota and New Jersey right now sending out a wall of flak to disguise their intentions and throw things into chaos. Only Washington and Philly are fairly obvious (although even Philly is sedning mixed signals).

We're just going to have to sit back and take whoever falls to us because there's at least half a dozen rumored possibilities for how #3/#4 works out.

I think the reason most people ( myself included ) think we like Monroe best is because he came in for two workouts. Last season, Evans came in for two and he was our pick. This year Monroe came in for two and was 'impressive' in both.

Now Im not saying I think Monroe is our guy, I still feel like if Cousins is available we'll be smart enough to take him, but I DO think Monroe is in the mix.
