[NBA] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (2011-2012 season)

Anybody else think that Blake Griffin and Kris Humphries look like they could be related?

If you haven't been watching the LAC-LAL game, you've missed a good one! I feel sorry for Clipper fans in one regard, however. As much as I know they want to, they really can't chant "Beat LA!"

In completely unexpected news, the Washington Wizards have just fired Flip Saunders, and thus defend their title as the only team in the NBA that's just as much of a cluster**** as the Kings.

Interesting note. Both were hired at the same time and both finished with 51 wins.

TO be fair, their situation was semi-expected because they lack any talent whatsoever aside from John Wall.

I wouldn't even say that. They clearly have talent, it's just even more mismatched than the Kings' talent is. Also, Saunders was never a good fit. I forget who said it, but someone I follow on twitter made fun of the Wizards for hiring a coach with a big and complex playbook and expecting Blatche, McGee and Young to execute it.

As bad as this is, whoever calls it "the worst" FT ever must have only been watching NBA basketball for a couple of decades at best. In years past and I can't recall who shot them but I remember a line drive attempt that went straight into the stanchion, another attempt that sailed completely over the back board and another that slipped out of someones hand and plunked a player positioned for possible rebound. So maybe Diop's plop makes some top 10 list but it's not the worst of all time IMO.

Now if that's not a perfect idea for one of Brickie's themes, I don't know what is. :p

Am i the only one who thought Rekes dunk was better than Blakes.

I guess so cos the media seems to think Blake just did the dunk of the century.

When twitter was blowing up last night i thought wow, this dunk must be from the free throw line or something.

It was just put down with extreme velocity in perkins face. If thats the greatest dunk of all time, according to Chris Broussard, well, maybe I'm out of touch.

he absorbed the full force of a hit by Kendrick Perkins (!) and was still able, with his head at rim level (!!), to fully extend himself and throw it down. there are very, very few dunks anywhere near the stratosphere of that. full thanks to Griffin for that, also because it made the people in my timeline mention every single one of those and gave me the opportunity to check them out. I had not, for instance, ever seen this one:

I don't know, that dunk where Lebron literally jumped over a guy for the oop was more impressive IMO

that guy was John Lucas though. he's tiny. and he didn't really do anything. in Griffin's dunk there was more of a clash of massive forces involved. complete matter of taste of course.

i just wanna point out that i think its rad that there are three teams in the nba right now who are excelling without superstars: denver (14-7), philadelphia (16-6), indiana (15-6), and atlanta (16-6). i have no idea how long their respective runs will last this season, but to see how well these teams are doing, while a team like new york (8-13) flounders, is wonderfully poetic justice in the name of team basketball...

The first angle I saw it was from behind the basket and was like ya it wasn't that impressive. Then to see it from the side was like wow. His head was at the rim level and the straight up was close to the top of the backboard. He was like far away from the rim when he threw it down with authority.

Like the mullen said last night on the broadcast, it's one thing to do it in a dunk contest and totally unreal during a game. Now put one of the better defenders in Perkins in between and wow.

Meanwhile, Duncan has four rings, two MVP's, and is a lock to be first-ballot. And Vince Carter... well, he can still tell his grandchildren about how he posterized a Hall Of Famer, which is, by an order of magnitude, more impressive than anything I've ever accomplished on a basketball court...

You dont consider Hawesome a superstar?

For reals though...

+1. Especially awesome in this age of massive entitlement from the bigs stars.

you know, for all the talk about Bynum having a breakout star season, he's only putting up moderately better stats than Cuz in 8-ish more minutes per game
