don't look now but Pop has the Spurs playing defense again and in result they have been on a tear since having those two 30 point losses on their home court

Everything is fine in Mavsville

Ironic that Harrison Barnes (a player that still lacks some basic fundamentals and has not improved much in the last few years) would challenge Cuban on the comments. Barnes hasn't exactly lived up to his own hype and potential.

In a general sense Mark Cuban is exactly right. Of course it's not 100% true for every player but I'd venture to say well over 50%. Not every American player that comes into the league lacks fundamentals but way too many of them do.

Do you understand why he's upset?

Slim, you wanna take this one?

I mean, let's set aside the "possible" backdoor racism for a second (Mixtapes? Really?), and get straight to it: if Slovenian basketball was really poppin' like that, then how come the Slovenian NT is currently ranked seventh in the world? Secondly, Cuban is conflating play style with fundamentals: ball-handling is a fundamental skill. Passing is a fundamental, so is shooting, so is defense. Which of these fundamental skills are "well over 50%" of American players lacking?

Thirdly, taunting or non taunting has ****-all to do with fundamentals. That's a direct shot at the culture of American basketball and, you know what? The guy who sat around with his thumb up his ass while his employees sexually harassed women and watched porn on his dime is the last mother****er on in the entire league who should be fixing his mouth to say jack **** about basketball culture.

Not to mention, as was just pointed out to me, Harrison Barnes played his high school basketball in that noted hotbed of mixtape streetballers, Ames, Iowa, and played for a college coach who is infamous for his lack of teaching his players fundamentals ( :: checks notes :: ) Roy Williams?

Boy, no college program says "mixtape" like North Carolina, I'll tell you what.

And another thing: let's give Mark Cuban the benefit of the doubt, for the sake of argument. I don't know why the **** I should but, what the hell, let's just say: if he has a problem with the fundamentals of American basketball, why were his remarks directed towards the players, rather than the coaches/executives who operate these AAU teams?
