VF21 said:Padrino -Simply watching the video award show, which has been amazingly well produced for an awards show BTW, doesn't mean I've bought into squat. I'd like to think I'm smart enough not to be fooled into buying something just because I saw it on TV.
Much like a lot of other appreciative threads around here, if you're not into this one, why not just leave it for those who might actually have comments?
Padrino said:i wasnt directing comments directly at you. it was more of the collective "you," if you know what i mean. and i think its pretty valid to provide a grievance related to the subject of a particular thread. there's counter-arguments for everything...and i feel strongly enough about this one to post a counter-argument of sorts. mtv has gone out of its way over the years to move the emphasis of their programming away from music. i have my own issues with the kind of music mtv does support, but i'm not making it a personal issue. i am more concerned and angered that music, in general, is no longer the focus. instead, mtv glorifies "pimping rides" and "punking celebrities." the vma's is a well-produced award show that attempts to get back to the root of things...but still allows itself to become too distracted. thats my view...and i think enough people might agree that its valid to place in this thread, rather than create an anti-mtv thread.![]()

I'm just talking about a video awards show, for Pete's sake. Sorry if it got you all hyper or something.
My comments are because I have watched this show before and been shocked at some of the stuff going on. This year's show, IMHO, was a pretty drastic departure from some of the stuff of the past. I'm not a hip-hop fan; I'm not an MTV fan. I am, however, a music fan of some 50+ years. As such I'm enjoying the show...
Silly me. I didn't think it through enough to consider all the nuances.

by the way alicia keys and eva longoria where lookin real dam hott!
I'm gonna have to disagree with you here fillmoe. Although 50 made himself look like an A**, Fat Joe has been claiming he's done with the "beef", he's gone on for months saying its childish and he's over it. Then what does he do, he goes on an awards show and pops off with some childish stuff towards 50. Both those guys are fools to me. Thank god for the underground scene.Fillmoe said:all the real hip hop fans know that 50 is a fake.... dude doesnt go anywhere without 10 bodyguards..... he reps NY but lives in Connecticut.... LOL! so when Joe said "id like to tell the people at home i feel so safe tonite with all this police protection courtesy of g-unit" it got under 50's skin..... and he got mad and started poppin off after his wack performance with Yayo..... im sure hes gonna lose a couple of deals after that one...... all in all 50 made himself, g unit and hip hop look real bad that night...... so round one goes to Fat Joe.... HAHAHHAHA
