Mock draft 2026

Admittedly I’m biased but I’m all in on AJ. Been alot of growth in him already this season. His 3 needs to get better to truly be generational but I have no doubt it will. He’s got the it factor, wants the ball in big situations and has incredible instincts. His athleticism, size and length lends to big potential as a defender as well. He had a close out block on a 3 point shooter last night that he had no business getting to. Looking forward to watching him in Big 12 play against more elite talent.
Kid is legit!

Not for nothing but Acuff also looks like the next elite Calipari guard too. Kings gotta find a way to get another mid-teens pick in this year’s draft because there’s a lot of good prospects to be had in that range this year too

You don’t take a big like boozer or Wilson over a wing like this he’s gonna be a star

AJ has exploded over the past two weeks so as of today, I think he's started to separate himself from the rest as the #1 guy. But I still love Caleb Wilson's game. He doesn't have the bag of tricks to score in isolation that Dybantsa has but I don't know that he needs them either. With his athleticism, defensive motor, and unblockable jumper he has enough to lead a team. Giannis is pretty damn good playing bully ball with one or two go-to moves and overwhelming athleticism. They're totally different players who will translate to totally different styles of play in the NBA and we shouldn't need to cut one of them down to elevate the other.

…so neither of them is Marvin Bagley?

…so neither of them is Marvin Bagley?

I was on the Bagley hype train going into his lone college season because he almost went to USC but after that one year at Duke watching him against NCAA competition I absolutely hated Bagley's game going into that draft and dedicated several posts on this forum trying to warn people that he was going to be a bust. His defensive awareness was non-existent, he had no outside jumper, and he never passed the ball.

But Wilson, I love what I've seen from Caleb Wilson so far and from my point of view there really is no comparison. If Caleb Wilson played anything like Marvin Bagley I would not want the Kings to go anywhere near him. He doesn't and he's my favorite prospect in this draft. I like what he brings on defense more than I like what Dybantsa brings on offense though clearly I'm biased in favor of defensive players in general. But I also have to admit that AJ Dybantsa has NBA ready moves and elite physical attributes and looks like a guy who would be tough to pass on if he's available.

We could then get into a whole philosophical discussion about whether a guy who profiles as a Tracy McGrady type of elite wing is actually a better pick than a defensive anchor big if you care about winning championships. Tracy was insanely talented and he's in the Hall of Fame but he never came close to sniffing a championship and some consider him one of the most disappointing players of all time when you take in the full scope of his career and what he might have been. But we've got 6 more months to talk about that so it's probably better to see how the rest of the college season shakes out first.
