I'm posting this in the Kings forum because he's been talking about the Kings quite a bit lately. If it needs to be moved, I'll understand.

Anyway, what do you guys think of Mike Lamb?

I think he is absolutely horrible. He has NO idea what he's talking about 90% of the time, especially when it comes to the NBA. Even his football knowledge seems to be somewhat suspect.

I bet he's a nice guy, but for a guy who makes his living talking about sports on the radio, he's worthless. I think he's slowly turning Sportsline 1140 into an unlistenable show.

Thoughts?

You can hear him ^ if you really want to. Check for your local listings for a Fox Sports Radio affiliate.

My main issue with Mike Lamb is that he cannot think for himself. He will bring up a point, and then Grant will disagree with him. Once Grant disagrees, Mike does not fight his argument but just agrees with him.

As for his knowledge, I have been only watching basketball for 3 years so I cannot say how much he knows and how much he doesn't know. Now when it comes to football he gets really annoying. Every chance he gets he has to bring up that he played college football. So What Mike!!!!!!

Lamb is a stooge. It seems like they brought him in to "water down" Grant Napier, who is quite abrasive to callers most of the time.

See, what you have to understand is this...

Mike, we understand. You're a douche. Got it.

Mike has been on with Grant for quite some time now, so I found the following humorous...

The other day, I think it was when Grant was travelling with the team in Dallas Grant was "complaining" while conversating with Lamb. They were talking about Grant's trip with the team to China. Lamb was running late on the call in from China from Grant. So when Grant called, they weren't ready for him to come on...

Grant, "Great. Calling in from halfway around the world and can't even get on my own damn show!":D

It's unfortunately obvious that some Kings Fans really don't understand the business of Sports Talk Shows. Mike Lamb is a great Yang to Grant's Ying. He is enjoyable to listen to and doesn't pretend to be a basketball wiz. Some time back it was Grant and I"ll bet many of the same whiners said unkind things about him as well.

Gee, Grants been on for 10-15 years now and KHTK has the top rated Sports Talk Show in the USA as verified by arbitron and Grants show is the prime time show. So they must be doing something right, eh? And by the way, Lamb has got all of you thinking about the show cause that's what they want, 18-34 listeners for the commercials.

I'm sure you can educate us ignorants. You seem real smart.

Mike Lamb is a great Yang to Grant's Ying.
I "get" that. Just like Koz. Another guy who knows nothing about sports. My point is, if you make your living talking about sports on the radio, you should know something about them. I have no problem with Lamb's personality. I do hate that he's MOTO (Master of the obvious) and he has more cliches than an NFL player doing an interview before a game, but otherwise, he's ok, I guess. By the way, its YIN and yang. Unless, of course, I misunderstood and you were talking about that horrible southern rap duo with long long hair and gold teeth.

He is enjoyable to listen to
That's as subjective as it gets. Or is that my ignorance shining through again?

and doesn't pretend to be a basketball wiz.
You clearly weren't listening yesterday.

Some time back it was Grant and I"ll bet many of the same whiners said unkind things about him as well.
Psssst...I've got a secret for you. They still do.

Gee, Grants been on for 10-15 years now and KHTK has the top rated Sports Talk Show in the USA as verified by arbitron and Grants show is the prime time show. So they must be doing something right, eh?
*Shrug* They've got me, a STAUNCHLY loyal listener since inception, changing the station more and more @ 4:00 rather than listen to Lamb. And I know for a fact I'm not the only one.

And by the way, Lamb has got all of you thinking about the show cause that's what they want, 18-34 listeners for the commercials.
I always put a CD on during commercials.

FYI: Mike Lamb is the co-host of the afternoon drive sports show on the Kings flagship station, Sports 1140 KHTK. His partner is Grant Napear, the Kings TV play-by-play announcer.

Aren't you leaving out the part that, until very recently, there was only one or two other talk radio programs that competed with Napear's time slot? None of which are sports related? Seems pretty obvious why he's pulled in those kind of numbers in a town with an underwhelming sports journalism presence.

But back on topic, yea, Lamb is not very interesting whatsoever. I give a big fat thumbs up to Kevin the Rat, though. He's awesome.

For clarifacation..... Mike Lamb is a Baseball Player. Mike Lamm is a former Football Player and now Co-host with Grant Napear:p

I really dont listen that much anymore. I do from time to time. Grants idiotic comments toward BJAx had me lose alot of interest toward the show.

Lam by himself is better than with Grant. He does as already said just repeat the obvious and (I don't know, maybe its just the way he talks) he ties to use big words as if to sound more intelligent. Oh, and is always trying to make something out of nothing...

I really don't like him and to be truthful have listened less because of him

Yes, me either. The Bjax comments, which he changed his position on (as usual), but mostly the 7th&K Arena project. That puppet doesn't even live here, and he's calling people idiots for choosing social and fiscal responsibility over a charity donation to special interests. What a joke.

Mike Lamb and 1140

My opinion of the Kings Night Radio is that they are clueless. I heard them talk about all week, if a new stadium isnt built the Kings are moving to Anaheim Ca. First the Kings owner isnt that stupid.:) The Angels have no major TV Contract, the Dodgers do, If the arena, the Pond, was soo so great, why are not the Clippers playing there? So, move the Kings to Anaheim, they have to change their names. They cant be the Kings as there is a Hockey team in place with that name. They have no TV Contract, as The Lakers have the Comcast Deal, the Clippers have the OTA games. So the Former Kings would be limited to Fox Sports Net with the other mid market teams. So why move them there? Ever drive to the Pond from LA? You have to leave at 3:30 to make sure you make it there for a 7 PM game. And the fine people of LA hate Sac so bad, it would take years to make them believe the product is good.

So Mike Lamb says build a new stadium all week on his show. First it has to come to vote. Why isnt he on the malls with ballot measures trying to secure a spot on the next election? We cant just build it. He thinks he can get the bulldozers going this week and have it built. He wants to sell bricks to raise money. He said, it has to be up by next season. Well that is not going to happen. So is the Kings moving to Southern LA? Dont think SO. Is Mike Lamb an idiot? I dont know, let everyone else figure that out. I want the Kings to stay, I hope the owners give us time to build a new stadium. But everyone knows it dosnt happen over night...... Oh, but Mike says it can!!!

Not that I think a move will happen any time soon, but...

The Clippers don't play there because they have already put in a lot of money to play at Staples, which is in LA (LA Clippers), the hockey team called the Kings doesn't play at the Pond, the Ducks do. BTW..the Pond is a beautiful arena.
I don't think the market they would be shooting for would be the LA fans..the Pond is in Anaheim OC..they would want the people in Orange County who don't like/want to drive to LA to go to the games..and you are over-exagerating the drive to the Pond, it would take 1 1/2 hr. tops!
(When I go to a Laker game, I drive from the high desert to Staples, which is way farther and it takes about 2 hours. According to your calculations it would take 6!)
The "fine people of LA" don't really think about Sac all that much...they've got their own troubles to think about.;)

"The Clippers don't play there because they have already put in a lot of money to play at Staples, which is in LA (LA Clippers), the hockey team called the Kings doesn't play at the Pond, the Ducks do. BTW..the Pond is a beautiful arena."

I never said the LA Kings played in the Pond, I lived in East LA, El Monte, and when my kids were down, we left for Disney at 3 PM, and arrived at 7:30. And I never said that the Pond was a bad arena. So the Clippers are worth more than the Kings?? HMMMMMThe Clippers would rather share an arena vs have one of their own? The Pond was built in the early 90's. So is it new?? Anaheim Angels cant sell Playoff tickets, so how would the Kings Rate? The Name, wouldnt last. OH YEA, everyone deceided that Anaheim dosnt work in a Name, Hence the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim...... So the Kings of Sac, go down, change the name, and would be settled in as a third team in the area? HMMMMMM, sounds like a Mike Lamm answer, I stand corrected on his spelling. All I am saying is if a threat of a move happens, please pick a city that is in the running for our Kings, Like Vegas or KC. Anaheim???? Dont think so.... I am not scared of that. I want a new stadium and a deal, saying that it will be played for years to come. When was the Arco Arena built? I am from Alaska, via Rhode Island.

Well Enough said, Mike Lam and the rest of the people who say build it now, good luck. It is going to take some time, I love Pro Sports of all kinds, I want the Kings here, but, give the town a chance to build it. It will get done

I'm locking the thread. There are CURRENT threads going about arena proposals, etc. Rather than have the discussion split and have to merge the comments at some point down the line, I'll just ask people to make their posts in the main forum...

Thanks.
