Miami Sac revisited from different angle

Entity

Hall of Famer
Ron Artest and Brad Miller for Shawn Marion and their 2nd rounder might be good for both teams.

Dwayn Wade
Ron Artest
Michael Beasley
Brad Miller

Would be a great lineup no matter how you swing it. They get defense and scoring and Marion will expire next season. I am not sure Pat wants to waste a year at PF then start over the next season rebuilding. They could be contenders again with that line up.

we get

Beno
Kevin
Salmon
Marion
Hawes

Bench

Garcia
Moore
our 1st rounder
3 second round picks

All of which could be used in trades to move up or get other players in more trades.

See if you can get them to throw in Alexander Johnson and I'll go for it.

shawn marion makes more sense for them.

if they get the 1st pick, i think they will go w/ rose instead of beasley..

rose and wade backcourt is insane.. if they can resign marion for like 9-10m .. they'll be set at the 1,2,3 position

Marion's 30, a SF, relies on his athleticsm, and is supposedly looking for a massive extension. Don't see that as a terribly appropriate investment for us. We end up with a worst cap situation than we already have.

I also have gotten the distinct impression over the last year that Riley, once one fo the few guys taht I thought might take a chance on Artest, really wants no part of him. There has been time and time again when going after him seemed like it made sense from the outside (assuming that Riles thought he ccould control Ron), and yet not a peep about it while he has continues pursuing lesser lights like Pietrus, Davis, Marion (not a lesser light) etc.

the only way I like this is if we let Marion's contract expire. i've said it on another blog, although I was much more profane about it, I want nothing to do with Shawn Marion. Let me explain why:

Bill Simmons does an MVP breakdown every year. He starts from the LVP (Least Valuable Player) and works up to his MVP choice. He begins at number 450 (which is Stephon Marbury) and skips numbers here and there and gives funny little explanations. Number 105 is Shawn Marion. Here's Simmons' comment:

"Game Show Host: 'Welcome back to 'Control Your NBA Destiny,' I'm Peter Tomarkin Jr. We're here with Shawn Marion of the Phoenix Suns. Shawn, before we went to commercial, we gave you the choice of two doors. Behind Door No. 1, you have the chance to keep playing with the great Steve Nash and potentially win an NBA title in Arizona. Behind Door No. 2, you can change your destiny, move to Miami, play with Ricky Davis and half the D-League on a terrible team, go for your own stats for a few weeks, then get sidelined with a made-up injury and get all of March, April, May and June off. Shawn, it's up to you ... it's time to control your NBA destiny.'

Marion: 'In Miami, even if we missed the playoffs and I got all that time off, I'd get paid the same amount, right?'

Game Show Host: 'That's correct: $16 million this year, $17 million next year.'

Shawn: 'I'll take Door No. 2!'"

Any questions? There is nothing in this world that would make a man stupid enough to think that he would be better off somewhere other than playing with Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire. The only thing that would cause that is ego, plain and simple. Marion basically turned down a championship to be the man. If he had accepted his role, which really wasn't bad by most standards, the Suns would be the first seed in the West and would probably be the favorites to win the championship. But no, he had to go and be a baby and get traded.

Now, the best case scenario with taking him in my opinion would be to use him for one purpose and one purpose only: an expiring contract. We could sit him all year and just wait for him to come off the books or S&T him. The thing I'd worry about is his attitude and how it would affect the locker room. We already have Kenny Thomas for that, why add another cancer?
