Beno for Conley is a no brainer. Beno has already demonstrated his ceiling, which is as a potentially good backup. Conley isn't close to showing his potential yet; another case of giving up on a young pg too early.

I'd do the Conley-for-Beno trade in a heartbeat. Major reason: contract.

I really, really, hoped that Petrie wouldn't give Beno the now-standard-fare full 5-year MLE, and he did. Beno's playing a lot worse than I thought he would, too, and my expectations were pretty low for him coming into this season. That being said, I knew with a 5-year contract, he'd be quite a risk, and if he fell to the mid-level curse, he may be Kenny Thomas-ing the pine for the last 3 years of his contract. Thus: trade him while we still can.

Conley's been a bust...so far. And I was really high on the guy. He still has potential, though...it appears psychological from what I've seen, not a lack of talent. With only a year or two left on his deal, what do we have to lose? I think we know what we're going to get from Beno...but for five years? Blech.

I have been talking to Memphis fans and the only players they want from the Kings are Hawes, and Thompson.. If I had to give up either one of those I wouldn't do it.

Beno for Jaric straight up... maybe even throw in a 2nd rounder. Older, but bigger, better defender and a shorter contract. Marko would be better for us if we draft a PG this summer. He also would expire right around the time that our rebuild start to bear fruit, at least I hope.

I have no idea whether Memphis would trade Conley for Beno, but if so I would rather do a three way deal with Portland, who is said to covet Conley for a reunite with Oden. So Conley goes to Portland, Beno goes to Memphis, and Bayless comes to the Kings.
