Marko Jaric to Minny for Sam Cassell and some draft Picks in a sign and trade deal.

saw this in the lakersground.net forums becasue i was trying to see their reactions to aquiring wells and shareef :D

but yea... if this deal is true, i think the clippers are actually better of in a trade, which is wierd i know, due to the draft picks which i believe is a first round pick... however cassell is wearing down now so who knows, mabye the wolves will be better off in this deal, but a first round pick and an aging star (2004) player is a bit to much for marco jaric, and i believe there is only 1 year left on sam cassell's contract, and he is a veteran which gives livinston more time to develop...

thoughts?

How is this possibly a good trade for the Clippers? Cassell is old and at the end of his career. Jaric is a good young player with many great years ahead of him. Minnesota is now a whole lot better, and the Clippers will continue to suck. Stupid Clippers, just when they show signs of life they go and do something like this.

This is typical Clippers. They are more than willing to let guys go to save money, but if they can get a rental player and/or draft picks for them on the way out, all the better.

On a side note, I can't help but laugh about this deal. Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell were knocking on the door of a finals appearance and then the whole thing fell apart. Partly it was due to their squabbling about money. Now Sam I Am is a Clipper and Spree is getting ZERO notice on the free agent market.

Beautiful.

Good trade for the Wolves. Clippers, well they are Clippers. Don't know where Spreewell will end up though. Interesting if he can somehow make it to Philly with his old buddy. I know its almost impossible with the money situation. But that would be pretty good.

wow the clippers are one stupid team.. sterling needs to be slapped

Clippers are officially insane if that's truth.

Wolves however, get a damn good and underrated combo guard. Also get rid of the aging and likely disgruntled Cassell. Mobley/Cassell could be a solid back-court if Cassell is healthy though, and the Clippers have a pretty nice mix of vet/young talent.

What the hell r the clippers doing.... I was actually feeling that they were gonna be a threat in the division... But now? Wow. These guys are mentally retarted..... All I could do is laugh, but I feel symphathy for them at the same time.

I wonder if jaric wanted to even play for the clips any more? Any one have any clues or know anything?

lol...I doubt anyone wants to play for the Clips, unless they just really like LA, in which case they would still rather be on the Lakers.

Interesting seeing what the Clipps have done this offseason. Obviously they are going for a win now approach by adding Cat and E.T.

There’s the possibility Jaric didn't want to play in LA anymore. He had a meeting with the Clippers a couple days ago to discuss his role on the team. He wanted to start, but with Livingston and Mobley the Clippers probably wanted him to come off the bench.

Not a bad move on the Clippers part if Jaric wasn’t going to be happy with coming off the bench.

A great move for the Wolves.

I don't mind the Clips moving Jaric -- he had never really performed for the Clips as he was expected. But taking back a guy who will potentially limit the development of Livingston is not the smartest move of the offseason.

Clippers won't see playoffs in next few years for sure :D
I think that Clippers are the only looser in this trade and Marko is the biggest winner. He finally got chance to prove how good he is and he got chance to play for a playoff team.

As long as he doesn't prove it against the Kings, I'm cool with him proving a point :)

Why even bother putting together a team if you're the Clippers...

Luckily for the Clippers they still have a solid foundation in Brand, Kaman, Shaun and Corey otherwise OH GOD

mobley ;)

The Clippers have better than average talent:

C Kaman
PF Brand
SF Maggette
SG Mobley
PG Cassell

And off the bench they have Livingston, Wilcox and Rebraca. If their lottery pick Korolev can give them anything, then they could have a decent bench.

They've got post play in Kaman and Brand. They have a slasher in Mags. They've got outside shooting in Mobley and Cassell. And although there aren't any defensive stalwarts, outside of Sam-I-Am, their starters are decent defenders.

The problem has, and always will be, the fact that they are the Clippers.

I also wonder how Mobley and Cassell will function in the backcourt. In fact, the team might be better served (especially in the longterm but perhaps also in the here and now) if they started Livingston and brought Cassell off the bench.

I don't mind this for the Clips. Jaric is injury prone and wanted a big contract, and they get a guy to mentor their young stud, Livingston. I don't know if Shaun will start or come off the bench, but I think we'll see him and Cassell together alot, with Mobley sitting. In fact, I would even consider making Cat my instant offense guy off the bench.

If by instant offense, you mean instant FGA

Yep, that's exactly what I mean. You have to put them up in order to knock them down. He can come in and start firing threes, and it will be all good, cause that's his job. You have to put players in a position to succeed, and I think that's how Cat should be used.
