You don't show your hole cards until after the river card is dealt.
I know what you're saying, I just do not agree it would benefit us to make the offer public. Either way, we only have a week or two at the most (and God I hope it's less) before all our questions are answered once and for all.
I personally don't think it will be over within a week. We might know what the NBA is planning to do by then BUT there is still this case of Maloofs actually selling to Sacramento group which could drag on for a little while because Maloofs are not about to make this an easy transaction. in perfect world, NBA says they are unlikely to support the sale/relocation request, Hansen pulls out of the deal and Maloofs sell to Vivek's group and it's all over and done it pretty quickly.
In reality, this won't be over for well after April 19. There might be intent for the team to stay in Sacramento but I am not counting my chicken before the Maloofs make it official and are officially out of the NBA. Only then can we breathe a sigh of relief. Until then, don't get your hopes up that this will be an easy transaction.
Perhaps, but another way to interpret this is it is precisely Stern and the BOG behind it.
In other words, the BOG doesn't want to tell a sitting owner who they can and can't sell to, not officially. But in this case they are telling the Maloofs they damn well might. So what does the NBA do? They talk to Seattle about the expansion option, ask them if they back out of their deal with the Maloofs will they accept expansion as an alternative? Then the NBA goes to the Maloof and tells them, not asks, TELLS them, contact Sacto if you want your money. If Sacto matches Hansen, then bring it to the BOG, and we'll approve it and you'll have your pound of flesh, and good riddance. If it happens, Hansen abruptly pulls out of the offer, the Maloofs then switch over and accept Sacto's offer. And then all the BOG has to do is accept the sale without ever officially voting against the Maloofs sale to Hansen. Hence, no precedent they don't like, but they still get the right result.

God. What makes me so sick is the Maloofs are still going to walk away with a big paycheck after all they've done to screw over Sacramento. I can't believe they're trying to gain leverage from Sacramento.

Maybe I am in the minority, but as long as we keep our team, I absolutely don't care what happens with the Maloofs.
We know how terrible they are at managing money anyways...
Agree with this! Regardless of how much they get, they will still manage to blow it all up pretty quickly! They will be flipping burgers before you know it.
anybody else setting up google alarms for "Maloof", "Failure", "Broke"?

What's a google alarm?
assuming this is a real question and not a slam for my using the wrong word, a google alert is this. basically alerts you to news concerning whatever configuration of search terms you want to be kept up-to-date of. can be used to keep track of people/companies/news items/whathaveyou.
What's a google alarm?
Yeah, jalfa probably neant Google Alert. But Google Alarm is just what it says. It's an alarm from Google. What makes it special is that since Google is everywhere it can find you wake you up no matter where you are. On the couch taking a nap? The TV turns on and wakes you up. Fall asleep studying at your desk? Your computer starts beeping at you. Nod off while on the toilet? Google flushes for you as a courtesy and an alarm. It's pretty amazing.
Dale Kasler via Twitter said:@dakasler: Sports Biz Daily says NBA asked Sac bidders for #NBAKings to cover Hansen's $30M downpayment if Sac wins.
Ha! Don't need Google for that. My kids running around the house do a good job waking me up with all those things you mentioned.

That would make sense if the reports that the Sac offer was intentionally 30 mil short because they assumed the Maloofs would/could keep the 30 mil from Hansen. This makes more sense if the NBA is persuading Hansen to drop the offer, and the BM to take the Sac offer. In other news:
This is unconfirmed. If it's true it's another indication that the Sac bid has a good shot of winning.
I don't know exactly what to make of it otherwise, though. If Hansen was dumb enough to give a non-refundable fee, why should Sac have to pay him back.
Then again, that could be the difference between the offers and the NBA thinks that Sac covering that fee makes them truly equivalent.

I wonder how Hansen/Balmer fell about this latest news? It cannot give them an easy feeling. Well gentlemen - welcome to negotiating with the Maloofs.

Kingster: The deadline may be about wanting this done and settled BEFORE the Kings last home game. If the League is going to keep the team in Sacramento the last thing they want or need is another debacle (from their perspective) like the last game 2 years ago when fans filled the court, the on air announcers cried and fans were left hanging. I know there are other timetables in play that may not accommodate the season here, but if what Stern sees IS the Kings staying as an inevitability, then having the season end on a high note is the BEST thing the league can do for the the new owners and the PR it creates in Sac might overshoe the doom and gloom up in rain town.
Today's sports business publications are reporting the NBA is behind this and that the NBA has asked for completed offers by Friday including the 30 mil. Here is one of the links again. http://m.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Morning-Buzz/2013/04/11/NBA-Kings.aspxThat's a very interesting interpretation. It makes a lot of sense and I sure hope it happens that way. It does imply though that the NBA was aware of this latest ultimatum ahead of time and maybe even behind it because they thought it best for the PR of the league. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard that the NBA knew anything about this ultimatum. If they didn't know about the ultimatum ahead of time, then I lean to the idea that this is the last desperate attempt by the Maloofs to have some control over a process in which they are mere spectators.
It seems like this is another terrible PR move by the Maloofs because of this element of ultimatum in their recent demand. If they left the ultimatum out of it, kept it low key, asked to get the back-up offer in time for the last game for reasons that you describe, then they come out of this looking much better. As it is, they still look like whiny children throwing the tantrum at the very end when they can't get their way.

The NBA probably has a short list of current NBA owners that have their hands up for the $525 valuation,
That would be unfortunate. Just kicking this nightmare down the road to dump on another fanbase.
