Yeah hard to know..Casspi was a great pick-up but he thrived under Malone- he have an injury, of course we dont know a lot about it because our media is bullpoopoo but i find it hard to believe he just decided he wasnt good after giving him a lot of credit- it's either an injury, or FO intervention (FO telling him to showcase DWill or him standing up to FO for spite).
What this is, is a munchausen by proxy situation in a basketball context. Create a fake crisis, then send in the so called savior to fix it. Petey! VIVEK! Mully! Save us! It's no accident PDA is trying to claim it was all his idea to sign Cousins, and Rudy, and all they other things he's claiming. That's part of building the fake scenario where Malone was holding the team back.
The problem is, sometimes the thing under the care of this form of abuser, dies. That's what may happen to this team in the metaphorical sense.
Definition: is a behaviour pattern in which a caregiver fabricates, exaggerates, or induces health problems in those who are in their care.[1] With deception at its core, this behaviour is an elusive, potentially lethal, and frequently misunderstood form of child abuse[2] or medical neglect[3] that has been difficult to define, detect, and confirm.
You didn't know munchausen by proxy could be a management style?
I feel like I'm having a nightmare. When is this going to end. Make it stop.
Would have fired Malone even if we were 16-9? Then you are the most arrogant, misguided fool to ever hold a position of power in an NBA franchise.
I am not going to go into torch and pitchfork mode until some official announcement is made about who will be coaching the Kings after the Tyrone Corbin era.
That said, when you hear that the so called top candidate aspires to coach like a guy whose career record is 1335-1063 and whose playoff record is 75-91 with zero championships in 31 seasons hope isn't one of the emotions generated.
As a side note, while I think this firing was incredibly unfair to Malone, I also think it was unfair to Corbin. I think he's a great assistant and a solid coach who will either get replaced after a few games or have to ride out this season and draw the fans ire if the team isn't playing as well as before especially if it adopts a run-and-gun style. Either way, Corbin is put in a terrible position.
Cause he's talking about don Nelson, not Karl?Adelman, 23 years, 1042-749 .582. playoffs 79-78 .503. Zero Championships. Two Finals
Karl has coached for 25 years. Not sure where you are getting 31.
During that time these are the only coaches with Rings.
Erik Spoelstra
Rick Carlisle
Phil Jackson
Doc Rivers
Gregg Popovich
Pat Riley
Larry Brown
Rudy Tomjanovich
Chuck Daly
I'll take the coach that has a winning record and playoffs every year over the past 10 years of crap coaches.
I feel like this is some sort of twisted, sick bad dream. Is this really happening??
@sam_amick: As @Chris_Broussard noted, I'm told Tyrone Corbin would have to fall on his face to not make it to end of season w/ Kings. Karl not in plans
Sam Amick @sam_amick
Chris Mullin will be more involved with the team in practices, planning etc., but no current plans to coach Kings. Will try to aid offense.

As @Chris_Broussard noted, I'm told Tyrone Corbin would have to fall on his face to not make it to end of season w/ Kings. Karl not in plans
My bet is that Karl is in the plans, but FO is not willing to admit it. They are presenting us with this doomsday scenario where Mullin is our head coach, only to bring in Karl and then paint Karl as the savior of the franchise.I refuse to believe this until it's official. If they tell George Karl no for Chris Mullin it will be the ultimate sign that Vivek is insane. You don't tell a hall of fame coach no for Chris "No coaching experience" Mullin. This is giving me a migraine.
What point at Ty Corbin's tenure with the Jazz makes anyone think this guy is a run-and-gun coach? Wtf? George Karl not in plans? NOT IN PLANS?!
9-6 isn't a celestial 15-game stretch, but with DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup, Sacramento navigated a minefield of a schedule by doubling down on its strengths. Malone slowed the game down and ran an uncomplicated offense through Cousins. It was ugly and it worked. However, Ranadive wanted to transition towards a vaguely realized vision of positionless basketball with a Spurs-y motion offense and defensive solidity. Which is not in itself a misplaced ambition, even if it boils down to "win forever and do everything good," but the Spurs have Gregg Popovich and a loaded roster. The Kings play Ryan Hollins and Reggie Evans with a straight face. Malone was coaching to the current roster's strengths. Plugging the now 11-13 Kings into an uptempo kinetic system is a calamitous idea that minimizes Cousins' potential impact. Hewing to Ranadive's naive stylistic ideas would be like buying a refrigerator full of steak only to convert to veganism
But really, who other than Mullin would want any part of this franchise right now? Taking over mid Season? I can't recall a coach of Karl's caliber ever doing such a thing. He seems open to it, but it's not realistic.I'm..... lost for words.
