Malone fired

gunks

Hall of Famer
Dang, Bricklayer called this way back....

Well.... I hope Vivek enjoys his crapsketball 3.0. We'll never sniff the playoffs, and Cousins will probably get injured running around, but hey... Exciting basketball!!

Casspi was a great pick-up but he thrived under Malone- he have an injury, of course we dont know a lot about it because our media is bullpoopoo but i find it hard to believe he just decided he wasnt good after giving him a lot of credit- it's either an injury, or FO intervention (FO telling him to showcase DWill or him standing up to FO for spite).
Yeah hard to know..

What this is, is a munchausen by proxy situation in a basketball context. Create a fake crisis, then send in the so called savior to fix it. Petey! VIVEK! Mully! Save us! It's no accident PDA is trying to claim it was all his idea to sign Cousins, and Rudy, and all they other things he's claiming. That's part of building the fake scenario where Malone was holding the team back.

The problem is, sometimes the thing under the care of this form of abuser, dies. That's what may happen to this team in the metaphorical sense.

Definition: is a behaviour pattern in which a caregiver fabricates, exaggerates, or induces health problems in those who are in their care.[1] With deception at its core, this behaviour is an elusive, potentially lethal, and frequently misunderstood form of child abuse[2] or medical neglect[3] that has been difficult to define, detect, and confirm.

You didn't know munchausen by proxy could be a management style? Not just a mental illness anymore folks.

Yes this is driving me crazy. He acts like extending DeMarcus was a tough decision. It was actually a no-brainer. And when they signed Rudy to an extension, we had all been hoping for it, and we celebrated when he did. It's not like he went against the outcry of the fans to prove us wrong. He just did what we were waiting for him to do. Easy, no brainer decisions.

I am not going to go into torch and pitchfork mode until some official announcement is made about who will be coaching the Kings after the Tyrone Corbin era.

That said, when you hear that the so called top candidate aspires to coach like a guy whose career record is 1335-1063 and whose playoff record is 75-91 with zero championships in 31 seasons hope isn't one of the emotions generated.

As a side note, while I think this firing was incredibly unfair to Malone, I also think it was unfair to Corbin. I think he's a great assistant and a solid coach who will either get replaced after a few games or have to ride out this season and draw the fans ire if the team isn't playing as well as before especially if it adopts a run-and-gun style. Either way, Corbin is put in a terrible position.

I hope Peja gets a fantastic reception tonight at half-time. I also hope the team gets great support.

I'm firmly on the side of booing, chanting, whistling PDA to show our disapproval. Make idiotic, knee-jerk, amateur decisions and you should be held responsible.

Vivek is clueless when it comes to basketball. He's a very nice guy but he's like an embarrassing uncle. He needs to completely step away from anything got to do with basketball decisions.

Would have fired Malone even if we were 16-9? Then you are the most arrogant, misguided fool to ever hold a position of power in an NBA franchise.
It's an incredibly selfish move. Malone was winning his way, not PDA's way. He couldn't take credit the way he'll be able to take it now. He should also be aware that the sword cuts both ways.

How they Hell do they do this without an actual plan?

I can understand (although I disagree) firing Malone if he isn't doing what you want. But if you are going to do that, have a replacement all lined up. Letting Tyrone float in the breeze and having Mullin out there as a maybe is awful for this team.

Adelman, 23 years, 1042-749 .582. playoffs 79-78 .503. Zero Championships. Two Finals

Karl has coached for 25 years. Not sure where you are getting 31.

During that time these are the only coaches with Rings.

Erik Spoelstra
Rick Carlisle
Phil Jackson
Doc Rivers
Gregg Popovich
Pat Riley
Larry Brown
Rudy Tomjanovich
Chuck Daly

I'll take the coach that has a winning record and playoffs every year over the past 10 years of crap coaches.

Cause he's talking about don Nelson, not Karl?

I refuse to believe this until it's official. If they tell George Karl no for Chris Mullin it will be the ultimate sign that Vivek is insane. You don't tell a hall of fame coach no for Chris "No coaching experience" Mullin. This is giving me a migraine.

What point at Ty Corbin's tenure with the Jazz makes anyone think this guy is a run-and-gun coach? Wtf? George Karl not in plans? NOT IN PLANS?!

Let's be real. Corbin is not in their long term plans. So why the charade? Why the charade with Malone? You're just going to play out 80% of a season with a lame duck coach? Really? Why would you expect the players to play hard in that type of a setting? If you're thinking about the future why are you throwing away 80% of a season worth of player experience getting set into a system?

Let's get this right. They didn't really want Malone. But they let players waste 20% of a season getting used to his system. They don't really want Corbin. But they're going to waste 80% of a season getting used to his system. Then at the end of the season, they bring in ANOTHER coach, and they have to learn his system. I can't envision how that makes sense in any way shape or form.

Nobody expect Corbin to make it to next season. How do I know that? PDA didn't exactly give him a vote of confidence when they asked about him other than saying "He's our coach." No, "He's our coach long term." Just... "He's our coach."

So why wouldn't you bring in someone else? They didn't even WANT Corbin. They wanted Gentry to be the assistant coach. How does any of this make any sense to anybody? I'm hoping this is all a smokescreen because right now I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My bet is that Karl is in the plans, but FO is not willing to admit it. They are presenting us with this doomsday scenario where Mullin is our head coach, only to bring in Karl and then paint Karl as the savior of the franchise.

It's a fabricated narrative:

- Vivek pretends to be some dumb owner that wants to copy GSW, favoring Mullin as the potential candidate for head coach.
- PDA plays the part of the reasonable guy, bringing in Karl, a guy who is experienced and will keep this team afloat
- The dumber Vivek presents himself, the more we will love PDA
- We see a fabricated tug-of-war between the irrational ownership and the rational PDA and Karl
- Kings fans will undoubtedly take the side of PDA and Karl, absolving PDA of any criticism involving Malone's dismissal

Good escape plan, FO. Beautifully crafted. It may work on us once, but I doubt it will work on us twice.

9-6 isn't a celestial 15-game stretch, but with DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup, Sacramento navigated a minefield of a schedule by doubling down on its strengths. Malone slowed the game down and ran an uncomplicated offense through Cousins. It was ugly and it worked. However, Ranadive wanted to transition towards a vaguely realized vision of positionless basketball with a Spurs-y motion offense and defensive solidity. Which is not in itself a misplaced ambition, even if it boils down to "win forever and do everything good," but the Spurs have Gregg Popovich and a loaded roster. The Kings play Ryan Hollins and Reggie Evans with a straight face. Malone was coaching to the current roster's strengths. Plugging the now 11-13 Kings into an uptempo kinetic system is a calamitous idea that minimizes Cousins' potential impact. Hewing to Ranadive's naive stylistic ideas would be like buying a refrigerator full of steak only to convert to veganism

Not a fan of Vice, but that's some venom in that paragraph.
