Make a deal with New York! Give them that 2010 cap room!

Sacramento Trades
Kenny Thomas
Andres Nocioni
Sean May ( Armstrong also works )

To New York for
Jarred Jeffries
Eddy Curry

Why Sacremento Does It
They dont need the expiring deal as bad as New York right now. We get rid of Nocioni ( set to expire in 3 years ) for 2 contracts that will expire sooner. Curry will be an ender next year, and Jeffries the year after that. Lets be honest, we dont need that big time FA right now. We still dont know what we have with this team .. it hasnt been healthy all year. When Curry and Jeffries expire is when we should be in the thick of the playoff race. Thats when we could use an expiring contract to bring us a good player. Not now. For those worried about Curry and his craziness, I see no reason why we would even have him active/ anywhere near the team. He would be there strictly to collect money. Jeffries is a decent defender.

Why New York Does It
They have been talking about 2010 for 3 years now. They reallly want to move that Curry contract. They add Nocioni, who is a longer deal, but with Kenny Thomas and Sean May expiring, they get another 10 mil to play with this off season. I think this would allow them to sign two of LBJ, Joe Johnson, Wade, and Bosh. No brainer for them, IMO.

Somethings to consider
I made this deal trying to look at it from NY's perspective more than the Kings. Im not one to make these type of threads, and I didnt want to post some of those homer trades we see here from time to time. However, there is a solid solid solid chance that if this deal were to go down, we would also get Danillo Gallinari, Toney Douglas, or a pick.

There are a lot of different ways to deal with NY right now. For instance we could even send them Thomas and Armstrong for Curry and a pick / Danillo, but the real joy here would be getting us out of Nocioni's contract. Thats what my goal was, I dont see many other scenarios where we could trade him.

Also, Im not saying I do the deal above, but its something I would consider. Something to talk about. And something that I could really see happening in some form.

Why the **** would we deal one of our biggest bargaining chips to shorten Nocioni's contract by a year?... No more favors. No thanks.

Doesn't really make sense because we end up with two guys taking up roster slots next year. If we opt not to be players in free agency for 2010 then the Maloofs can save a little coin and then they may be more willing to open up the pocketbooks later.

It really isn't *that* big of a deal if we're stuck with Noc for a while. As Brick reminded me yesterday his contract does decline each year and when it expires we'll be using that money on guys we already have. As long as he isn't killing locker room chemistry we can wait until someone actually wants him.

i fail to see what we get out of this

we help new york but get absolutely nothing out of it? we would be doing them a HUGE favor.

Well, the point was, they get cap space when they need it, we get cap space when we need it. I understand the thought that we wouldnt be getting anything back, but losing Nocioni is a positive. When everyone is healthy, he should be the odd man out. If he isnt, and Westphal continues to play him over Omri and Greene, then we have a problem.

Works financially

but why? I would assume a first round pick or two would need to be involved.

Noc, though he has a long contract, has been an asset for the Kings while Cisco has been out. He would be an asset and earn playing time on any team in the league.

Curry would be interesting if he could turn things around. Sac is a great place for guys to clean up their act out of the media spotlight and away from big city life. Artest did it, Bonzi did it, Webber did it. Could be interesting, but why would the Kings gamble on Curry when the same deal could be done with Philly to get Dalembert who would likely be less risky.

Jeffries would be third string... also, in my opinion Noc > Jeffries

IF the Kings do some form of this deal and for some reason wanted Curry, the Kings could do K9 and May for Curry

If the goal is to shed Noc's contract, why not do a Noc and Hilton Armstrong (expiring) for Curry. This give New York more cap space this offseason and rids them of Curry, while the Kings exchange three years of Noc for one year of Curry.

The more I think about it, Noc + Hilton for Curry + pick seems pretty appealing long term, but the question remains, why make this deal for Curry when a similar one could be had for Dalembert?

The Knicks better be sending over a couple of firsts and the 5 hottest girls from their dance team before I even want to talk about this. Its a dream deal for them. Noc is not THAT big a problem for us.

This last one I like. I probly made the origional deal too complicated. But this is something I would take a look at. We still might be alble to get Jordan Hill, Danillo, or a pick out of it too.
