Magloire still an option if GP moves fast

Magloire is ok, but he's not an upgrade over Miller. He's a little better rebounder and shotblocker, but he shoots a bad FG% for a C. Add in the fact that he can't hit a FT, he can't pass, and he turns the ball over way too much, and I think he is overated IMHO. He's a decent C, but I really don't think he's a good one. He's also going to demand more money then he is worth next year when he is a FA.

He's a better prescence than Brad though, just because he's not a shotblocker doesn't mean he can't change or alter shots.

He's most definitely an uprgrade over Brad defensively. Offensively? No, he's not too great on offense, but not a liability. He's also pretty mobile.

I'd be pleased if we got him, and brings what we need. Just don't know about backing up Brad in his contract year... if that couldn't be worked out, Brad would have to come off the bench (reasons are on the bottom of the 1st page). I'd be fine with either. If neither of those, the deal doesn't work, and the deals likely off.

Overall Magloire isn't an upgrade over Brad. He could be a awesome backup but he would want to do that. I guess you could play them together, Magloire did play PF when he came into the league but he is pretty unathletic. I think Gadzuric would better fit our needs.

Overall, no. Defensively and what we need? Yes. But, like I said, it's a complicated deal now, and may not work.

Gadzuric? That'd be the same deal, would Kenny want to come off the bench? Given what we know, I'd say no. That's why any deals with the Bucks, which would likely involve KT, aren't as realistic or feasible as before the Villanueva trade.

"Like I told them when I got here, I don't want to move anymore," said Wells after he scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Friday night's 105-83 series-ending loss to the Spurs

"If I am not here next year it's totally up to them. I want to be here, I want to do everything it takes to be a King for the rest of my career but if they want to go in a different direction I understand."

He he... I like your signature Kings113. I hope it rings true.:)

Magliore is more what we need -- a traditional set of big man skills. Gets on the glass, is rugged and physical in there, Adonal Foyle doesn't run him over like a WNBA center. He's a walking double double. Not a great player, but a physical roleplayer, starting center, borderline All Star in this weak era for centers.

Figure:

a) there is stilll some minscule hope for Chandler -- not sure what the holdup is on that PJ Brown deal, unless it be that they are seriously in the KG hunt...or a 3rd team is trying to butt in.

b) Otherwise, all the FA centers of note are gone. Think my next target on that list would be Cato, but strictly as a backup of course.

c) So that leaves as entities known/suspected to be available, Magliore, E. Thomas, POSSIBLY Dalembert for the right price, Swift, and Mr. Spank My Monkey While Driving.

That's still a reasonable list given what we are looking for -- flawed, concerns in every case, but we've got a bevy of spare pieces in need of a home and an undiminishd need.
:D :D :D :D

But a poor shotblocker for a player who has a huge wingspan.

That's fine -- still better than anything we have, and willing and able to thug somebody if he can't get the block too.

Not a 100% solution but if your 3 bigs were Magliore, 1 of our softies, and then a shotblocker, it would be borderline, but maybe enough. Not your main inside intimidator, but a guy who can provide support there, and takes care of the other team's bigs physically.

I looked up Hoopshype. And here's the salaray list.

Corliss Wiliamson 6.5 mil, will be expired after this season (06/07).
Vitaly Potapenko 3.3 mil, ditto.
Jason Hart 1.68mil, ditto.

Well. Total salaries for those players, whom we are not using, is ... 11.48 mil !!! And all of those contracts will be expired at the end of the coming season.

Which makes me wonder if for any reason they may want to hold on to some of these expiring contracts so we have cash next year. Not that I want to, but it is an option....

If they do, its all for the Maloof's pockets, because $11 mil off the books still doesn't get us far enough under the cap to have anything more than the MLE.

^^^ Yes, but depending on Bonzi's deal (assuming he resigns), it may allow the Kings to only take a tax hit this year even if they do use part/all of the MLE, use the MLE again next year and be under the tax cap going forward.

Not sure about the numbers in regards to the tax going forward and my dial-up is going slower than usual.

Wizards I'd say would take him based on what they want to do. Be our best bet for getting rid of him, because he could start there, and there wouldn't be any issues about coming off the bench.

I could see him having sucess here...him w/ reef and miller wouldn't be bad. Hopefully one of the youngsters in summer league can provide some shotblocking.

Looks like a trade is where the big man is going to have to come from then.

And out of them available, I'd take Magloire over Dalembert or Etan Thomas, even if for just a year.

I hope VF is right about the sneaky Petrie. Because right now I'm just bummed he didn't manage to get Pryz or Chandler...

I'd take Magloire, Gadzuric or Joe Smith (expiring) for Kenny Thomas. Hopefully the Bucks are open to dealing.

Would you do SAR for Magloire? Bucks would, I would think.

They'd need to sweeten the deal somehow. I don't like the idea of giving up a semi-valuable piece for a one season Magloire rental, especially with the way serviceable centers seem to get ridiculously overpaid in the offseason.

For KT? Sure. For just about anyone else on the roster? Not so sure.

That one season rentalism would have to be dealt with I think. Not sure how -- Magliore isn't the sort of guy you get to agree to an automatic extension as soon as you trade for him. But we'd to at least have a talk with him. Otherwise I would have to agree we couldn't go too far beyond KT or enders.

Answer me this. If our PG, SG, and SF are all non-traditional type players, is it necessarily a good thing that our C be a more traditional C, or one that can better compliment those other oddities?

No interior defense/rebounding = no hope of victory.

Brad's offensive game might make some sense, or at least be an interesting thought, if it were actually something that could be counted on when it mattered, which its not. But its the important big man stuff where he and the rest of the frontcourt is a disaster in there.

Total # of non-rebounding, non-defending, jump-shooting centers/frontcourts to win rings since I have been watching basketball...zero.
