Luke Walton?

Gary

All-Star
Just read about him being an UFA this summer. Think he would demand too much money? He seems like a smart player that is fundamental... Would you sign him if we were to get rid of Artest this summer? He brings the ability to hit open shots, he can distribute the ball. He is a bit weak defensively (not as bad as a lot of people say he is though) and does not rebound the ball well, but he does what he can with his tools.

I know the Triangle has done well for him. Think he can prosper in any other offensive scheme? Would he be worth a look at John Salmons like money? He seems like the kind of player that in the right circumstance can be a supporting player. Worst comes to worst we would have a SF/PF(in a small lineup) coming off the bench.

I am not 100% sold on this guy though so please no personal attacks. It has gotten pretty bad around here.

I am just curious what you all think about him this summer, and if you think the Kings might make a move for him. Just having his dad around would make me say no

He's emerged as a good roleplayer this year -- think the Lakers will be serious about trying to keep him.

As for us...in the old Princeton offense his passing skills would have been much appreciated, although he;s a SF, not a big. In another system? Not as sure. He's a smart player, but one of those guys where, like a Brad Miller, his utility is directly proportional to how you use him. Use him wrong and he;s just a 15mpg spot player. Use him right, and he's a valuabel roleplaying starter. In any case, we obviously have no roster spot for him right now until/unless we move one of Artest/Kevin/Cisco/Salmons. And we just fired the coach who would have played him at center.

He's an ok role player on any other team. He's a system player for the lakers, won't be as good on another team.

I think he's a more skillful Mark Madsen when Mark was in LA. And I agree, he mostly likely won't be as good on another team.

I think his dad would ground him for life if he played for us. Then again, maybe he wouldn't be so annoying when he comments our games.

I thought he would have been a great bench player for us during our Vlade hey day when our offensive system really worked toward his game.

But now I see us going in a very different direction (or at least hope so) and think the value has passed.

3 or 4 years ago, yes. Now, no thanks.
