Lottery position thread

After the Portland woss, tied for 11th-13th. For those who worry about other outcomes, we're still 3 games out of the playoffs, as we have been for quite a while, so no progress there. Seems like the NBA's split down the middle, with the sub-.500 teams mostly going through the motions and allowing the better teams to roll right over them, while the +.500 teams are busy jockeying for better playoff spots. Pity that we seem headed for a C-.

Down to a 0.7% chance of a #1 pick, and about a 0.9% chance of a #2 pick.

Today we dropped into a tie for 12-13th, with about a 14/1000 chance of a top-2 pick. New Jersey and NO/OKC are tied for 14th-15th only half a game away from us, so slipping some more is a definite possibility.

Say hello to a sweep from Dallas and a 15th pick and the EXACT SAME THING next year:mad:

Well...We might not have Ron for awhile + the harsh schedule to finish out the season....We COULD end up with a top 10 pick by the time this is all over.

You're assuming that the team won't respond to Ron's absence with 30 points each from Mike and Kevin. I'm not sure whether this will have a big impact on the team's record, in either direction. Besides, Ron could be back in a week. I'll hope for the best, but I'm not going to expect anything.

After the Pacers woss, we are in14th place, 5 pingpong balls out of 1000. As low as one can go.

Well looks like we can give up on our hopes for the draft. We won't get anybody good because we don't suck quite enough. Unless we can trade Ron for Miami's first rounder or whatever and trade up a few spots.

14th? Perfect! It's Geoff's favorite vacation destination: swingman city!

And even more importantly, from I've heard the cut-off in quality in this year's draft is at 14. Maybe you get the same quality player at 10 as at 14, but not at 15 or 16. We could be drafting a Quincy Douby type player then.

After the SA lin, tied at 12th-14th. Little point in worrying about pingpong balls per se, but we still have a shot at a starting-quality big if we keep finishing our games like we did tonight.

A day later, tied at 13th-15th. If we wose in Denver, we'll be in sole 15th. If we lin, we'll probably be in 11th-13th. Either way we are likely to remain #9 in the WC playoff race.

After the blowout lin over Denver, we're tied for 13th-14th, but we're only one game away from tied for 9th-10th, so while we might be out of the runnning for many pingpong balls, we still have a shot at a good to excellent player in any position. In 9th in the playoffs race, and a game and a half out of 8th, so, with our schedule, a 9th draft pick is looking more likely than getting the chance to be swept by Dallas.

Tied for 12th-14th with the Nets and the Warriors, but... yeah! :) All improvements are welcome, and those which don't require losing any games are doubly so. Who'd have thought that the Warriors would be the ones to finally beat Dallas?

We've got a brutal schedule coming up, but the Clips and Warriors don't have many free wins either. Its still entirely possible we back into the playoffs with a sub-.500 record. Which is just...roughly the worst thing you can do in the NBA. Completely asinine. But its sitting right there as a possibility.

After the crushing lin over the Cavs, tied for 10th-12th draft position with Minnesota and Orlando. Getting closer...

Tied for 10th-11th in the West.

go here, http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2007/index then click on the Lottery + Mock Draft

most of the time it'll have us at either pick #10 or 11, with espn saying we're getting either Brook Lopez or Yi Jianlian, who both are centers...

and if you press "Play Lottery" enough times, the 0.95% of us getting the 1st pick will give us Greg Oden...

Yeah, I love that thing, even though it reflects Ford's prospect rankings and doesn't give an accurate sense of who's actually coming out.

That said, ESPN simulator+March Madness+finals week=doom

I remain considerably intrigued, if not exactly sold, on Jianlin. If that happened I would not be upset and would have hope we might have scored a sleeper. Of course like most sleepers, he also might never wake up for you, and then you are screwed.
