The Hammer said:Piksi you want people like Artest to spit in your face so you can have something to justify yourself with. It secretly delights you that things has gone this way. You're the guy who says: "Those stinking bastards!" And you love it. Admit it.
In a word...no. He has almost a 20 year history proving otherwise. But I am going to be praying really hard that he proves me wrong.KP said:Do you guys think he posesses an ounce of self-control? PJAZZ19 said:Sacramento has always been a place about second chances: Chris Webber, Vernon Maxwell, Jimmy Jackson and Bonzi Wells...to name a few. It's naive to say that this WILL be the turning point in Artest's career...but until he shows us otherwise (on the court), lets give him a chance to succeed.
Remember that when Webber was traded to the Kings, he was very upset and only reported to the team when his father lectured him. True, Webber didn't have the extensive baggage that Artest does. It's up to us how much we let the past bother us. I believe in looking forward. Sometimes in what appears to be the darkest times, a light can appear. Lets hold off on judging Ron Artest..."judge not lest ye be judged"
And, given the way our team has played this season, I don't think we have anything to lose.
GO KINGS!
Likewise, prepare for some "Peja is soft" debates. They get intense. Also, he gets to see his favorite player in the league, Tayshaun four times a year now if he stays with the Pacers. That will be fun.SoupIsGood said:Prepare for some mean Artest debates guys. They get ugly.

We know without a single doubt what Artest has done. I will allow him time to to show me he will change. I accept he's a King and I will support him as long as he supports this team with good behavior on and off the court. However, he has a long, long way to go to earn any trust or respect from me. And I have never, ever felt that way about any player that has come to the Kings previously.
Newsflash, this team has already sunk. What do they have to lose?GreenKing said:Ron Artest has had second chances, third chances, and now another chance. He is a CANCER. And he will show his true colors as a prima donna cry baby, just give him time. Ron Artest will be the iceberg that sinks this team. Mark my words!!!
He's played more games than he has missed. Peja has played more, but shown up less.KP said:Do you guys think he posesses an ounce of self-control? Honestly? He seems like a decent guy but I think he has severe issues... way beyond basketball. I pray I'm wrong.

I hope that Artest overcomes his demons and is more of a help than hinderance, but if not, we stand to lose what we have left of all of these.
No kidding. The Kings have already demonstrated this season that they are a better team if Peja isn't in the building.4cwebb said:How much self respect and character did this Kings' team have dragging the bottom of the pacific division anyway?
At worst, Artest flips out and gets suspended after ten or so games. No biggie. The kids need the time anyway, and prior to this trade, the Kings weren't vastly improving, so a lottery pick seemed inevitable. So if Artest only plays ten games and the Kings end up in the lottery, the result is not too different from that projected had the trade not been made, at least imho.

I think the track records of Rick Adelman getting production from "bad apples" and Geoff Petrie finding the right person at the right time speak volumes. Unfortunately, some people have pressed the mute button.
Peja has been more of a liability than an asset this season, and a change was needed. Well, I think we should just roll with it and see where this ride goes... It couldn't get any worse, last place in the Pacific Division is pretty much "rock bottom" in my book...
