League profitability Seattle V Sacramento

The thing that needs to be remembered is that CB never really tried to do anything to work things out with the Seattle folks like he originally claimed. He told the public he would try all he can to work with them but he did the opposite and it was all proven later via their ownership group's emails that surfaced . He had the nerves to tell Stern that he and his ownership group never thought about relocation even one bit when they purchased the team. It was later shown that they were talking about relocation even before the purchase. Yes, Seattle did not give any support for the arena up to the sale. But CB was suppose to buy the team and really really try to re-work and come up with a deal which he never tried with good faith. (check the amount of public contribution he asked for). So, would they have worked out a deal for sure if CB really tried hard? Who knows. But he never did try.

This is really off topic as this is about the profitability of the current Seattle deal and Sac. But it should be noted that the OKC situation was not exactly as what section was claiming.

It was a non starter because there as no public money. Doesn't matter what they talked about or his intentions. Fact is it never got to the point where they had a chance to stay because repeat again there was no public money.

As I already mentioned, the whole thing regarding whether the team left because of the city or CB is off topic. But you brought up this topic initially and I just wanted to straighten out the facts. There are too many versions of facts going on which doesn't help for someone trying to understand the situation.

Where were the Seattle investors, which are seeking to overbid our team away from us, in 2006 to save their own damn team? I think this is what annoys a lot of us

Don't worry...they won't get our team! Have faith!

At the end of all these, the Seattle folks will have egg all over their face especially considering the downright rude manner in which they carried themselves throughout this process. They will eventually get the team but I am confident it won't be our team!

The problem is that the Maloofs never tried hard to get an arena deal done here either so the politicians and grass roots people got off their asses and stepped up in their place.

Nobody should've believed a word Clay Bennett said when he bought the team. Politicians and businessmen lie for a living. It's how they gain leverage. When I first heard that Clay bought the Sonics, the first thing that went through my head was that they would be moving to OKC. That's what everyone thought. At that point, the Seattle leaders should've came up with arena ideas and solutions just like we're doing in Sacramento as opposed to waiting on Clay to come up with a bad Renton idea that had no chance at passing. And why should it? Knowing that he's an OKC businessman, he's naturally going to come up with a plan that lines his pockets. If the city and state don't come up with a better effort or counter offer, they're essentially telling the team that don't care about it anymore.

FWIW, the Renton plan was very similar to what Orlando and San Antonio got so it wasn't the most owner slanted deal ever.
