Kobe for T-Mac?

I'm reading the Sports Guy chat marathon, and in it he makes this trade suggestion. What do you guys think of it?

Personally, I don't think Kobe deserves to be in Houston; that team is too good for him. He'd screw up the chemistry even more than it is now, and with guys like Francis and Alston there, it'd just be a huge mess. If Kobe had a better disposition, it would work, the talent would be amazing...

Heck, it would be almost Kobe and Shaq again.

I'd do that trade any day of the week and I'm a Rockets fan. I love T-Mac and he's definitely more of a "team" player than Kobe but he has his problems. He's losing some quickness, gets injured a lot, and has never proven to have that killer instinct to win the game. (well sometimes he does but many times he hasn't shown it - case in point Steve Francis was making the clutch plays against Phoenix last night) Plus T-mac says stupid things like "I wanna play baseball when my contract is done" and basically admitted to Dan Patrick in an interview that he doesn't play as hard as Kobe. Love him to death but it's not even close.

Look Kobe is an egotistical maniac. Off the court, the guy is a jerk and has consistently proven it.

But on the court, he really don't have a problem with him at all. he's the best player in the league and with some actual talent around him, he'd do just fine. This selfishness garbage has never been substantiated in my mind. And the Team USA performance cemented that opinion. He's playing with trash and the fact that he's winning right now is even better.

Finally, all the stuff and I mean everything that you guys say about Kobe was repeated and parroted over and over during McGrady's last year in Orlando. He was selfish, he quit on his team, he can't pass, he whines too much, etc...

And guess what, he got some talent and now he's the definition of a point-forward. The guy is the point guard on this team a lot of the time and is as unselfish as superstars get. Amazing what happens when you get a new start and some talent.

Well it's a deal that at least gets like for like, but in the end Kobe is way more valualbe than T-Mac given issues of health and durablity so if Houston does it they get the better player, but I guess everyone allready knows that. The biger questions are MUCH harder to answer. Will Kobe play nice and work with his team IF the team is better? If I am Houston the only way I make this trade is IF (1) as the season progresses we have trouble beathing top teams but are in the running for a top 4 seed. In short if we are on the edge of making the finals but seem to need the push to go over the line. (2) Talkes with the Kobe camp include Adleman and ALL paries agree the deal is good and the Kobelet WANTS to come a play in Rick's systm.
All in all prety doubtfull.

Not gonna happen....nor would I want it to. Doesn't TMac miss about 1/3 of the season with back problems every year??

I'm sure Houston would do it. Kobe is a better player, and is a more durable player. Off-court issues aside, Kobe did prove he can be a team player during the Shaq years. He was the facilitator for those teams, and was a better defender when he didn't have to focus so much on scoring. A #2 scoring option (let alone Yao Ming as your teammate) makes a world of difference.
