Kingsfans mock draft. You be the GM.. Multi-person mock draft.

For where we are in the draft, Alexander will be my first pick.....but I am sure he is going to be picked up far before our pick.

Hopefully. I do not want the Kings to draft Alexander, but I have a sinking feeling he will drop to us and we'll take him.

First person to pick #13 (Portland's pick) get it.

Need to get this moving, and only have a little more than a day to finish.

I will promptly follow with the 14th :)

Thanks!

Don't mind if I do.

With the 13th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the Portland Trailblazers select...

Brandon Rush from the University of Kansas

Chances are Portland trades this pick, but I'll assume they pick for themselves here. I was about to say Ajinca just because that's the only real name being associated with Portland at this pick other than Alexander, but I thought I should be original ;) I think Portland really does like Ajinca and it's not like they couldn't use a skilled PF/C to backup the Aldridge/Oden connection, but they're also looking to upgrade their SF position, and this gives them depth to trade Webster or Outlaw whom are supposedly on the block. Rush is a very safe pick, will at least provide Battier-esque production with some scoring potential. Ajinca has made some very good improvements, but he's still a raw post player and needs at least a couple years until he's a finished product; Portland has plenty of players like that already. Rush follows suit with their new look of good citizens and unselfish play, Rush has good college experience and a winning resume. He'll be a great wingmate with Roy with his athleticism, finishing ability, and spot up shooting. He'll need to improve his off the dribble play and mid range J.

With the 14th pick in the NBA draft the Golden State Warriors select DeAndre Jordan.

The W's need a big man that can board that is athletic enough to keep up with the rest of the team. This would give them flexibility to move other bigs that cannot do what they are weakest at.

With the 15th Pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the Phoenix Suns select.... Robin Lopez from Stanford University.

If the Suns keep this pick I think they're going to go best player available at a swing position, defensive backup PG, or center. I think they'd consider Rush (off the board), Batum, Chalmers and CDR here, but given that they only have Brian Skinner and Diaw off the bench and given the uncertainty with Shaq's health, I think they would go best available center. Anjica could also get a look, but Lopez is ready to board and hustle next year and could play both backup PF and C. So Robin Lopez it is.

With the 16th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the Philadelphia 76ers select.....

Darrell Arthur from the University of Kansas

If Jordan is off the board, I think Arthur is a slam dunk selection here. The biggest weaknesses in Philly are the PG (for the future) and PF positions, the guard position is very weak in this area of the draft so they'll definitely go big here since they're loaded with wing players. Even though I don't think they really dream of having Dalembert man the C position for the long term, they're comfortable with him there for now. That means they need a player who can score in the high low and play good man D in the post; Darrell Arthur is that guy. Arthur's lack of significant shot blocking and rebounding are concerns, but he has the advanced inside/outside post game that Philly needs and he's got the wingspan, lateral quicks and frame to be a good man defender and rotate well on D. Dalembert can make up for his weaknesses for now. I think they like Koufos, Ajinca, and Speights here as well, but they'll side with Arthur who is the best combo of potential and proven skill here.

NEW YORK – After on-and-off again negotiations, the Indiana Pacers have agreed in principle to send six-time All-Star Jermaine O’Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford and the 17th pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive said Wednesday.

If so, this throws a wrench in our mock.

Also, Bucher reported that Arthur has serious health concerns. Something about his kidney and a hairline fracture in his leg that he played with this year.

Hmmm... Salmons and the #12 for Daniels and the #11 and #17?

That would be awesome, but I doubt it. They could use a real SG, but they still have Dunleavy and Granger at the wings and they both had their best years of their career last year.

I would be banking on their need of a good SG to guard that position (which Dunleavy and Granger really can't do), which is what they were thinking Daniels was going to do.

Maybe, but two draft picks for a backup wing? I don't know about that. They're going to need a big after this deal.

I would think they would start Salmons at SG and bring either Dunleavy or Granger off the bench -- neither of those guys are really a solution at SG, even if they had good years. And it's really just one draft pick since they'd still have the #12, where they could draft Randolph or whoever. We'd get the #11 so we could probably get Augustin, and then draft best big available at #17 (or CDR).

Yea, that's true; I forgot for a second that they still have the 12th. Maybe, but if someone was coming off the bench it's definitely Dunleavy, but I know they like Dunleavy and he's a better defender than he gets credit for. Also there will probably be a good C at the 17th pick.

Purplehaze:

I selected Hibbert for Indiana, I was filling in for Amory (on Toronto's pick) on that one.I have no problem giving it back for ya though.

Ahh Ryan.. Sorry about that.. I will log your pick. I forgot that I wrote to you about this one last night..

Hibbert right? Seems like it's going to Indiana. The deal is all but done. Hibbert will be an amazing pick at #17. Good job on that one!

If this draft were real Indiana would get the C, and PG of the future.

Per STEELEVT: #19 pick for Washington Wizards

2. mcgee-athletic with good size. could play pf as well as C

He got his 2nd choice. His #1 pick at this slot was Arthur, and 3rd was McGee.

PurpleHaze; If Henkel doesn't come online by 8pm (after Purple Reign makes his pick) Did you want the #20? If not I guess I can do this one. I will give Henkel 2 hours after Reign's pick.

With the 20th pick the Charlotte Bobcats select Marreese Speights.

Even if Charlotte goes big with their first pick they are still in need of front court depth. They could also use some depth at the pg slot so Mario Chalmers is also a viable option, but in the end i think they take a chance on the raw but talented big guy.

A couple of gems have dropped in our drafts.. I am hoping you all miss someone :D Then I can snag him at #27.

Who's pick has surprised you the most so far? I would say Brandon Rush at # 13. My mock has him at #23. I know he has moved up, but it's a stretch imo. It's kind of neat how many guys are left on the boards though that are REAL good..

Nah, someone will pick up on him by then.

WOW, Ryan Anderson at 19 is a real surprise. People are not that high on him in the media, but he is very good.

With the 21st pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the New Jersey Nets select....

Kosta Koufos from Ohio State University

They really want Marreese Speights here (damn you, henkel <shakes fist>) but they take Koufos because they need inside scoring. Koufos gives them exactly that. I considered Ajinca here too, but I figure he's too much like Williams and they need a different look and Krstic isn't cutting it there. Koufos has some problems being right hand dominant and a little predictable with his post moves, but he plays a true low post game and can score outside too with a really good jump shot. I'd compare him to a not as polished Hawes, but with better length. He has some shot blocking ability as well so he won't be a complete waste on the defensive side, but he's not going to be a strength there. Not to mention his rebounding is suspect but he's probably more advanced there than Hawes was. The nets don't mind so much because they have Sean Williams to pick up the slack. They may have to wait a year or two before he's a legit threat down there, but he does solve an immediate need.

Overall a pretty productive draft for the nets here, but with Gallinari and Koufos they don't supply them with a whole lot of athleticism and they do play in an up tempo offense. They stand to still be pretty athletic though since they'll probably be keeping 3 out of the 4 of Harris, Carter, RJ, and Williams. The offensive games of Gallinari and Koufos will improve their versatility in the half court. The big goal for the nets is to have the cap space to give LeBron a max deal when he's on the market and be ready with a championship quality supporting cast for him.
