McCallum .. dark horse starting PG option? already the best defender of the bunch. Potentially better at running this offense.

Not likely, but ...

I was meh on IT tonight. He played like Isaiah Thomas, which is fine. Still think he's a bench guard.

All in all, this didn't stink. And that's enough for me for the first pre-season game. :)

If McCallum blossoms at PG and it looks like he very well could - his 6'1" advantage over 5'9" IT may mean the later becomes trade bait. Of course, we thought Jimmer was trade bait but so far that's fading.

DMC has got to get much more involved in the gae. I am hoping that Vasquez can help him with that

He got plenty of post looks, but he is just not comfortable making moves down there, especially against Bogut. His best games have been against smaller C's or slow C's and when he is active inside with offensive rebounds. Defensively he looked much more active though.

One of my pet peeves is people trying to put rookies into starting slots way too soon. (Not picking on you MKF, but you were just the one who said it most recently.)

A lot of positives tonight. Defense was better, we made a conceited effort to get Cousins the ball. We played an excellent Warriors team to even for 3 quarters without 2 of our key guys, Vasquez and Landry. Heck, they had to put in 4 of their starters against the deep bench to put this one away. The Rooks both look ready to go give 20 MPG off the bench already. Very cool to see.

I think it will be Vasquez for sure. I would like McCallum over IT as PG in the pecking order though. Scoring point guards are always so hard to fit into the lineup when they are not the number one option.

Kings Played Pretty well, much better than the final score reflects. GS played their starters significant minutes including in the fourth quarter, and the Kings went neck and neck with them for 3 quarters. You can tell the difference in coaching. Way better defense. Warriors have arguably the most potent offense in the league, and Kings kept them in check.

GV is a high turnover guard, but if you go look at the NBA assist leaders all of those guys are near the top of the league in turnovers as well. It comes with the territory.

meh... not really a fan of his game. He dribbles to much without setting anything up. I feel similar about IT. Im excited to see a refreshing change with Vasquez's passing abilities.

I agree about IT, but I don't see any chance of McCallum starting, at least not in the first half of the season

Thomas could very well end up this squads BoJax. He'd flourish in that role.

Both rookies looked better than the guys starting ahead of them. The team overall looked better and more active defensively. The turnovers were a mess though. Overall i liked what i saw considering we were playing one of the better teams in the West who gave their starters good minutes. I would expect to see a better performance against the Lakers.

I have no idea what we'll do. Coaches fall in love with guys like IT all the time. The hungry guard who talks a big game and puts up the nice numbers without necessarily guiding the team to a win. I could see Malone falling for it, easy.

And honestly, IT might not be the wrong move. He was certainly the wrong guy when Evans was here, but now .. we don't know yet. Nothing would surprise me, though. IT was fine tonight, but I thought McCallum played a more appealing game to me personally. We'll have to wait and see how Vasquez plays.

I think Vasquez could do well here, but I get the feeling some of the fans are overrating his passing abilities

He had 5 assists in 18 minutes and he dribbles too much without setting anyone up? Not sure the math behind that one. He got to the line at a good clip too, which is something that Vasquez doesn't do.

He's also the best defender of the bunch, and I don't think that one is even close.

Yea, I thought IT was fine tonight too. He forced a few shots, but seemed much better than he was last year. Cousins got a lot of touches down low so I don't think IT's shot count was detrimental to Cousins at all. Like you said, without Evans I don't think there is a problem with the shots he took tonight.

Maybe i need to re-watch it, but i felt like i just saw him dribbling around very erratically and pounding the ball too much expecting something to happen.

Yep. As far as I can tell he has the skill set and physical tools to be a great complementary player in the league for years to come. I don't see star potential, but he has shown everything you want out of a role player. No gaping holes in his game that other teams can take advantage of and no hero complex.

i think bmac played really well, his stroke was there and he looked good coming off of screens... *please start vasquez and ben*...ray looked ok(especially with tony douglas on him most of the time) bt he did have trouble after he drove into the lane(and hit ur FTs please)...luc and john were unimpressive(WE NEED A SF!) ...i liked that we found cuz in the post a lot..he just needs a move or two down there with his back to the basket...outlaw our best SF???lol...and where is jimmer!
