I don't think anyone said it was; thankless, sure. Not worth the bull**** we have to put up with? Sometimes. Hard? Not really.

I am thankful for the input of most mods. Also I realize what a modless society can be like. Ask anyone who was around in 2000. Also, back in the early years there were several forums. Some were what I call "teenage posturing" and very uncivilized. I would rather the occasionally dictatorial modism of this forum than other forums. This is a rare place where very high level basketball can be discussed and I have learned a lot.

I've been a mod in the now defunct politics discussion area. It was awful and we learned the lesson that politics should not be discussed. I thought I might enjoy it and didn't at all. That was a special situation as I don't think being a mod is that difficult. I might be the biggest pain in the ass for the mods because I've been around so long.

You have not been threatened, given an infraction, or told to do anything like leave. We have asked why you stay here and complain if it is so miserable for you, to which you say you like it just fine. Not sure how we are supposed to help you with that, and not sure that we are here to help you at all if you can't make up your own mind.

Frankly, mod complaints are VERY minimal - I think you are SEVERELY overstating that. But again, I can't help visions of persecution in others where there is none. Go back over the thread carefully and really think about what was typed and then how it was interpreted. Overreaction to a typed comment is common by those thinking they are being singled out or "bullied" - reading "threats" where there are none. Your posts in this thread over the past day or so are a prime example.

Try to look at your input from a forum poster's point of view.

What? Have you ever been one? I haven't been one but I have been a volunteer where the only time your noticed (and that shouldn't be the motivation) is when something goes wrong or someone has a complaint.

I would have to think there is difficult balance between fan and moderator. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes.

Yes I have. On some decent sites. My only advice is that they are a little heavy handed on here (excuses are for bad mods) and a bit inconsistent as to who they reprimand and how much.
It is borderline hazing with new people.

So your opinion is that only the first person you talk with is allowed to post or have an opinion on a topic? Is that how it works here now? Gee, thanks for telling me so I know next time! FYI, I didn't overreact, I had an opinion that I am free to share. Sorry if you took a benign comment and want to turn it into a personal attack.

As for the ongoing topic about why "stay here" if you would rather complain about how the site is run, I think of it like a restaurant. If I want Chinese food, I don't go to Red Robin and complain that they don't have Orange Chicken on the menu. I go to Panda Express instead. If you want Red Robin, then stay here. You want Panda Express go somewhere else. And please don't take that as me "threatening" or "bullying" you - I've had enough of that for today, thanks.

When someone bitches about something, then states that they are perfectly happy, then complains about being bullied and threatened when nothing of the sort exists, yes, they are delusional. Or at least acting like it.

Yep, all done (like I said earlier). And I apologize if anything I said was misinterpreted as a threat or bullying. I am pretty sure anyone can look back at the thread and make their own decisions.

Advice and opinion are not the same thing. You gave an opinion that the moderators 'were a little heavy handed on here (excuses are for bad mods) and a bit inconsistent as to who they reprimand and how much' and I was questioning what you were basing that on. I didn't think the reprimands were public. And if they're not public, you don't really know who all gets reprimands or what the consequences of such reprimands are.

I will give a piece of advice, if you have a problem with the moderating take it up with him/her or them using the private message option. By keeping it off the main board it's easier to get misunderstandings resolved or at least an understanding of where the other person is coming from.
