Sergio has really been impressing me. Coming into the season he was known as a wild passing PG with a low FG% and a high assist and high TO ratio.

He's been anything but that since he's been in Sac. Great TO/Ast ratio. Shooting great and getting past defenders to the basket easily. You can obviously tell that the defense respects his passing ability because they defend that first, which allows him to get to the basket for easy layups.

Sergio? Where did you come from?

We have too much talent

It's official, I will now listen to K-Mart trade talk.

I'm one of the biggest Sergio fans on this site but that's pushing it. We have just enough talent to beat the knicks, nets and hornets without Paul or peja.

We probably have too much talent at sf in terms of number of players not overall talent. The same can be said for our guards, it's more quantity than quality. We beat the magic, celtics and cavs in a row and then we can talk about having talent.

His A/TO ratio has never been bad. It was 2.0 his first year, and increased to over 3 last year. Easily better than anyone who was on the Kings last year.

I'm just commenting on how much depth and potential we seem to have in the back court. I am really looking to see how Martin plays when he gets back. He may put us over the top. But we seem to have more talent than we do minutes at the guard AND wing positions. If we can move some and get that great piece up front, I say we have to do it.

Whatever problem Beno was having last year I hope it’s gone for good. He’s playing amazing. It’s great to see him back after the ridiculously lousy (understatement) play last year.

Sergio, he really is playing great. He needs to improve his shot but he’s in control most of the time. It was a nice draft day pick-up. It will be interesting to see how much he will or if he will improve this year.

Jon Brockman, I love seeing him out there on the court. If only he could get more minutes.

Tyreke, it seemed like this was his first game that he really struggled throughout the game. I was hoping he’d pass it more instead of going one-on-one - when nothing was there. I thought he could have passed it out once he penetrated and had some other team members open, but he’s young and he seems like he’ll bounce back and improve himself.

I love the passing that we’re displaying this year. We’re young and it’s easier for some of these guys to rely on themselves but they look for one another. Donte had some nice assists.

Good old fashion Sactown beatdown!

Arco Arena is feared once again!

Great win tonight.

Now the fans have to fill the building and show these kids what Arco Thunder is all about.

Tyreke just bails on the offense too often.

And Westphal keeps keeping him in. Not good for long term chemistry.

The chemistry is fine. New O'rleans is stacking the middle on Evans. The NBA giveth and the NBA taketh away. Its called a learning experience. He'll be fine, and so will the team.

we have depth at guard and sf but no one to back up the bigs....

Sergio didn't have a problem getting wide open layups. In fact, on one play in the first half he came around the screen slowed down a step the defender went back to his man at the free throw line and sergio walked in. They don't do that for Evans because he rarely passes the ball.

Combo of good game for Ok and bad D by JT imo

Question. Did Okafor play bad defense everytime Thompson scored. You know, sometimes your just going to get scored on. Its a two way street. You want Thompson to clobber West, or Okafor, but you want to criticize him for getting into foul trouble. I don't know if you noticed or not, but West is a pretty good player. I thought Thompson did about as good a job on West as he could. West is smaller, quicker and very crafty. Add to that, the fact that Hawes couldn't play tonight, and they needed Thompson to stay out of foul trouble, he did a pretty good job.

All I know is what I saw. Every time Evans got the ball they jammed the middle on him. They know he likes to drive to the basket and they took it away tonight. It had him somewhat confused. I agree that he should have moved the ball, or shot the ball. But as I said its a learning experience. he'll have to adjust, and I'm sure he will. What are we talking here, 14 games?

As for Sergio, he had a great game. He actually fooled them. They expected him to pass and he just went to the basket. You can't compare what Sergio did with what Evans did. They're two different players and they were defended differently.

Went to the game tonight and had a great time! I expected the people in the upper deck seats to be more into it, but maybe it was just the section I was in.

Westphal even commented after the game that New Orleans set up their whole defense to stop Tyreke. I am sure this is not something that was expected this shortly into his NBA career. We will see how he adjusts if other teams continue to do the same thing defensively.

No, they don't do that because they spent all of yesterday working on schemes to stop Tyreke whenever he had the ball, and probably had a footnote buried down there somewhere about Sergio. When Tyreke got the ball everybody ont he defense shaded and reacted -- it was the focus of the defense and 5 guys playing him. When Sergio got the ball it was just the responsibility of his own man. That's the difference between defense on a star and defense on an erstwhile scrub. And of course you know that too.

it didnt look like the hornets were doing anything out of the ordinary to evans... they treated him like our leading scorer. he had an off night and tried to overcompensate for it which made it worse. later on in the 2nd half he slowed down and scored a few more points, he was shooting like 33% at half time... 3-9 shooting. he was doing too much, once he realized that he had an okay game in the end.

I'm sure you meant to add there "aside from the 4 guys, including both bigs in the paint, shaded over onto his side of the court whenever he caught the ball"

NO had the situation with Spence out to sag their Center into the lane for Tyreke. K9 and Brock are no Spence out in the perimeter. With Spence out there Okafor has to step away from the lane or leave Spence open for a jump shot. I believe someone here mentioned they saw Westphaul coacing Spence out on the 3.

There is a reason for that... Tonight you saw why. You either sag on Spence or JT and position yourself to defend the block and leave them open for 20 footers or you stay in the perimeter and allow tyreke the space to drive and make a move under the basket.

He will have to adjust to that... We have the peaces for a Tyreke centered Offense in Spence Donte Omri Kevin Nocioni and JT to an extent. All good shooters out in the perimeter.

they treated him like he was our leading scorer... teams tend to do that. unless they come out and say that they wont double so-and-so... like they do with kobe or lebron before they destroy them. the hornets showed evans a level of respect that maybe he wasnt ready for. but they didnt do anything all that special considering they were short handed without paul or peja. okafor was the teams 2nd leading scorer... on most nights he is their 5th... okafor had 20 points, he only averages 9.5 ppg... i would think that they wouldve played him differently with a healthy roster.

The point that was being made is that all 5 NO players were playing defense on Tyreke whenever he touched the ball, and that is what frustrated him. You can call it the star treatment if you like, but he was the only player on the Kings getting that kind of attention by NO. JT got double-teamed a few times in the post, but they have Okafor play him straight up most of the night.

All a learning experience with the kid. He tried to do too much today. And play NO's game. He will have to learn to find his teamates out on the perimeter for open shots and have them torch them. That will open up the lane for his scoring.

Tyreke wont be a prolific scorer untill he gets his jumper down... you saw why today. But he sure can rack up assists and be a far larger impact on the game then his numbers will ever show.

Just got back from the game after driving up from the bay area. First thing I want to say, I am extremely dissapointed in the turnout. The arena looked barely half full. The fans that were there got into it, but this team deserves larger crowds. If I can make a 3 hr round trip, then sacramentoans, or whatever you call people who live in sac, don't have an excuse for not going. If the price is a problem, then why are the $10 and $20 sections practically empty? My gf and I sat together, and there wasn't another person in the 3 rows behind us, or the 2 in front. Thats pathetic!
