Offensively they are better, defense is highly suspect and the only question I had was depth/long term strategy. That move is the move a team with a 2 year window scared to death of losing Luka makes. Boom or bust. we'll see which it is. You can't declare either, yet. I'd argue the team last night was better, but Luka just does things.
Not for nothing but Kyrie essentially put up a Spencer Dinwiddie performance in the first half because Luka never passed him the ball enough for him to do anything with it.

Considering the fact that UFOs are trending on social media, Kyrie might not even make it through his postgame press conference tonight without doing something inflammatory.
I think he got his 4th point in the second quarter when Luka was sitting. He had the 3 that gave them the lead to close as well. Obviously they are better if they can play together and someone, anyone covers defense. But it's way too early to proclaim anything and if Luka freezes him out I don't see him continuing with the Mavs.
Even prime Jordan played within an offensive system more than this though. Every single Mavs possession is just them giving Luka the ball and letting him freelance for 20 seconds.
