Today kids, we will have the following for breakfast:

our butts, warmed up by the 76ers.

What shall we do? Now that we have nothing to sit upon, or play off? Woe is me! I am unhinged!!!

Fortunately we have nothing left for the Grizzlies to hand us either.

What an incredible season.

Memphis has a talented young team anchored by a very impressive Rudy Gay and surprising Marc Gasol. Who would have known they were the Barry family of Spain? How awesome are they?

If you haven't noticed I have devolved conversationally into superlatives. I'm trying to keep you all awake long enough to get to Vlade's retirement party. That should be an awesome night.

AWARDS:

Mikki- will go to our man Donte Greene. I'm putting the rook in, but predicting he will infuriate us.
Ra&1- Nobody. There will only be flash in the scoring department.
SAR- Greg Buckner. Didn't know I got that deep into the other team did ya?
Cassell- Our backup center Kenny Thomas. No, really, check it out: Espn is so slow

yeah. usually awards are given out for the game that was just played and the TDM goes to whatever scrub destroyed us. Or whichever player had a game that was a little out of the ordinary.
 
I wasn't complaining or criticizing, since I'm glad ryanandty has stepped up to do these. I just thought it might help if we knew what critieria he was using for the awards.

If piksi and anyone else who has created an award will send me a PM to clarify their original intent, I'd be glad to compile them and then sticky them to the top of the forum for future reference.

You know you've been around a long time when people start to give other people credit for expressions you coined; not that I'm bitter or anything... :cool:
 
I think most of the confusion about the awards stems from the fact that they are so very similar. Basically, you have four different awards for players that suck. The JHA, the Mikki, the LW-VC and the RA-And1. Especially between the JHA and the Mikki, borders blur. The JHA, as far as I get it, is reserved for the one player that sucks the most, and who is only played for reasons that no sane human being can understand. The Mikki really is the same, maybe with some "he also shows passion and screams a lot and stuff" thrown in.

The other two are easier to distinguish. The Luke Walton thingy is for players that are thought of highly, but don't deserve to be and the RA-And1 is for players that specifically hurt their teams chances by being flashy and holding on to the ball too much.

I think the remaining ones are clear, right? Just in case:
TDM -> player that's really a scrub and lights the Kings up, regardless
SAR -> old player that also looks old (rather pointless, if you ask me)

i've always given the JHA based on the fact that the player sucked and we expected him to.

the Mikki I usually give to a starter who didn't do anything at all.
 
LW-VC is in reference to Luke Walton's performance against us some years ago, where his man frikin Kenny thomas got a triple double. So I guess that's a whole new level of suckitude, perhaps game changing suckitide from decent players

Or, in other words, a reverse TDM: a player on the other team who gives up a season/career best to a Kings player.
 
I give awards based upon potential. I'm an equal opportunity pessimist so anyone can receive anything at any time based upon certain recent indicators.

I try to predict the future using the past.

However: If someone could give me the original intent of the awards I would be more than happy to revise my distinguishing process.

my definitions:very similar to piksi's i think

Mikki- starter on either team who put up a really weak line
 JHA- player who sucked. and we knew he was going to suck. or we liked that he sucked.
 TDM- scrub on the other team who has a phenomenal game against the Kings.
Lw Vc- someone on the other team who gives up a phenomenal game to a Kings player.
 RA&1- Player who shot the ball a lot and missed just as much, or a player who doesn't think about running an offense at all and just dribbles around and turns the ball over
 SAR Methusaleh- old/young players who just look soooooo old on the court. just run old, look old, complain old, eat old, sit on the bench old
Artest Pocket- this one has only been used a few times, but this award goes to a Kings player who completely shuts down an opposing teams player. not because they suck. Because that players defense was so in tune. We really haven't needed this since two years ago. Artest used to completely OWN players like Melo, Ginobli, Joe Johnson, Brandon Roy, Eddy Curry, Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette, Andrei Kirlienko, Dirk Nowitski, T-Mac, it was ridiculous. Then his wife beat up his car and it went downhill from there. We haven't had a defensive presence since.

Not only was he not punished for the remarks, the show opening actually featured Kenny Natt on tape saying pretty much the same kinds of things.
