Klay hit that shot over Davion for the exact reason it would have been 10x harder to hit over Ellis. 4 inches.

You are doubling down on your Davion love but you should probably give it a rest. Keon is undoubtedly a better player, based off intangibles alone.
See, everyone did this to Huerter too and look how that looks 4 games later?

I think Davion can still be a guy in this league, but it's probably going to have to be somewhere else. For whatever reason, it's just not clicking offensively for him in our system and now guys behind him are just taking his job. And the defense is still excellent, it just hasn't been as good this season as the past 2 years. It's not just 9 games this season either, it's been for his entire career and all the Brown tenure.

I think him and HB are on the hot-seat for the org right now. HB only with 21 minutes tonight and didn't get a single minute in the 4th quarter. He also didn't close the OKC game either. And honestly, we're just clearly better with Monk closing over HB because of his offensive creation.

I just think the seasons young and its not right to write off Davion.

Just think people are overreacting about him (I've seen seen some stuff on twitter about him that doesn't seem warranted) so I don't want people to get delusional and forget about what he can bring to the team.

Just remember that we don't win that Portland game without Davion but again, I think it's neutral if anything but I'm fine with riding the hot hand for now.
Davion is a good 2way player on the right team and he's a much better shooter than Keon, but his playmaking is not the right fit for us. On the other hand, Keon knows his limitations on the offensive end and lets the others dictate it and his disruption of off opposing offense is just devastating. That disruption is largely responsible for our offensive flow and contagious to other players. That's why I think Davion is expendable.

People were willing to do this with Huerter lol. A good chunk of the forum in fact.
So, applying the same yardstick, it isn't fair to already write off Davion too, right?

It's a long season and we won't run on all cylinders every game. There was some regression in terms of his defense and finishing around the rim on offense. I'm not worried about his defense in the long term though. He's trending up when it comes to three pointers and his shot looks promising. Once rounds into a rhythm, he will be a valuable asset.

Mike should go with whoever is working well at the moment. Keon is great and fits the bill better now. However, it would be foolish to give up on Davion too soon.

With Huerter, it was just a shooter slumping. Happens all the time. But with Davion this is going into the third year where he's shown that he's really abysmal as a PG that has to do PG things.

It's fine if he's a 15 minute back-up playing next to Monk who can generate some high-level offense. It is what it is. And I wouldn't say Keon is better than him per se.

But the moment Fox has to miss a game and we're looking at him to do lead guard stuff, hoo boy.

To say nothing of the fact that 152 total career minutes is a super-small sample size to be using words like "undoubtedly," but fans will do as fans do.

Applying the same yardstick, it wasn't "fair" to already write off either one of them.

Davion also has a skill that Keon doesn't have and that's elite ball handling and an elite first step.

Davion was doing fine hitting set shots too which I guess we need a bigger sample size for Keon.

So I wouldn't call offense a wash at least in terms of potential but I might be wrong.

On defense we have a large sample size on Davion and although I think Keon has been great, I don't think it's fair to write off a guy who everyone knows is a stud on defense.

If Klay Thompson hadn't hit that shot over him I doubt people would be talking all that much about players just shooting right over him.

Just saying that I don't think Keon is better than Davion, if anything they're equal right now therefore I don't think leaving Davion completely out of the rotation for Ellis would be fair.
Better than Davion? Probably not. Who knows, that G-league scoring might translate at some point for Keon. The thing is for the role that Brown is wanting the backup PG to play Keon is doing a great job. Keon has essentially been playing largely the role Doug Christie did with the great Kings teams. He's driving in a bit and pitching back to Domas, seeing over the defense and surveying, bringing the ball up, and setting up the offense. Davion looks to be a solid pick and roll guard but for some reason that's not what Brown wants out of the backup PG.

It is what he wants out of the backup PG if you’re of the opinion that Malik is our actual backup point guard.

Exactly and those pick and rolls basically go to him so more of a setup G it is and Keon is very natural in that role for sure. Malik is the Bibby/Bobby and Keon is the DC. It's the millennium bench squad haha.
