Kings vs. Boston SL Game thread

Dime Dropper

All-Star
I'm expecting Sullinger to have a big game, given Robinson's lack of effort on defense, and the former's post game. Hoping he can do some damage himself, though. He needs to keep demanding the ball in the post and try to use his athleticism and quickness. Some more post moves would be nice, too. Very hard to get a read on what sort of player he is yet. At least he's shown that he can handle the ball and pass it.

not game related but i think boston got great steals picking so late. sullinger and melo seem like good young front court pickups that can learn from garnett.

Sullinger is struggling offensively nearly as badly as Robinson, but he knows what he's about in there. But these guys are suddenly realizing they just got smaller, and they haven't even seen the real league yet.

The major difference may be that Sullinger knows his position and TRob doesn't. Fast forward a few years and let's see how it turns out. Anyway, here comes the game.

No need to always be so eager to jump off the cliff, Brickie (perhaps you should change your handle to "Cliffjumper"?).

Size isn't the issue. It's getting used to the speed and pace of the game. Robinson has even stated so himself. But I'm sure you'll find someway to discredit his opinion and tout your own as correct.

Again, a handful of Summer league games isn't the end all be all of how a player is going to turn out. Back away from the cliff, once and for all. Now is not the time to panic and try to draw conclusions from a very small sample size of meaningless developmental games. These guys are still trying to get themselves acclimated.

Uh, yeah I will, because I'm not a player making excuses for myself, and frankly I probably know the NBA game better than TRob by virtue of having watched it since before he was even born.

But you know, feel free to go insult Alex English with the same homer nonsense, given that he said the same thing just yesterday.

Robinson actually looks focused out there tonight. He is doing a excellent job on the boards and is doing a lot better defensively as well. His shot isn't falling, but it is summer league, so that isn't much to be concerned with.

Yeah the speed of the game excuse doesn't fly in summer league. These are same players that he played against in college. No if he were going against Blake griffin al horford lamarcus Aldridge ect.... Then you can use speed of the game but also the size would be an issue then as well

From court side:

Coach English, gonna do some pick n rolls today or some post ups, he smiled and said "there doing some now but I just want to get them playing harder". Turns out this is not his first head coaching assignment as he had been a head coach of the Charlotte LowGators in the D-League.

Tyler Honeycutt sitting courtside eating a hot dog and small pizza, again. Each time I saw him yesterday eating the same thing. Mentioned that to Coach Smart who commented, "We gotta fatten him up some more!".

Fredete - Johnson
Young - Robinson
Gates

TRob playing a 3 handling the ball out front with guards
TRob & Sullinger guarding each other

Darnell Jackson been doing some trash talking with Celtics bench.

Final day for auditions. Mitchell really flying high; Nunnally pushing every chance, hits deep 3. Every rebound a fast break, so it seems. Everybody just run run run.

1st Q: Kings shooting 47%, reb 15/9 over Celts and JImmer has hit 2/3 3's

Kings playing harder today

Darnell Jackson is playing at NBA level most of the time when he is not trash talking.

Mitchell is flying higher than ever but making some nice baskets and playing some D.

TRob-Sullinger going hard at each other.

TRob brought his rebounding hardhat this time, and I think that's going to have to be his bankable skill early in his career so a good sign. Also have noticed in the last 2 games he's been doing a better job of at least sticking his hands in the air on defense. Still doesn't challenge anything, but at least he's not just leaving his hands at his sides in the post now. I'm assuming that was something Smart mentioned to him, just bizarre he ever would have developed the other habit its os basketball 101ey.

Makes me jealous. Wish I could eat like crap and be an awesome athlete.

whoever was saying the other day that T Rob isnt a good finisher, i see where you got that idea. he definitely misses a lot of close shots. but im gonna wait untill the real season starts to see how he does

Mitchell would have been a late 1st early 2nd rounder had he not gotten suspended from the team at Alabama. He was one of the top players in the SEC.

There we go. This has basically been a college matchup of TRob v. Sullinger, but I just think for his confidence TRob needed this to close out the summer league. First burst in any of the 5 games where he's looked like the best player out there for any stretch.

7min to go in 4th, TRob has 13 pt, 16 reb. and 3 ast

Kings shooting 51.8% and outrebounding Celts 45/30. Finally got some fire lit under their butts.
