[Game] Kings versus Pacers, 11/30/10 @ 7PM

It was like the Packers not the Pacers lining up against the Kings in the second half. Indiana came out and immediately set the tone on defense and it intimidated the Kings - ON OUR HOME FLOOR! Pathetic display and I hope Coach Westphal points out in his post-game comments how weak this team is under strong D pressure.

Lakers and Mavs next.

We'll be 4-14 before our next winnable game.

Guys and Gals. We might be the worst team in the league this year. And we shouldnt be. We really, really shouldnt be. This season has been a huge step back. I have no idea where we go from here.

And we had no business winning our first 3 games since we had to come back by 10+ to get those wins...think where we would be right now if we didn't.

I will say that I am very proud of how Cousins played (for the most part) tonight. I also appreciated what he said during his short interview. Humility is key.

Co-signed.

He did have a career night with 20 points, good job on bouncing back after the storm.. wish the rest of the team were the same.

You know, my heart goes out to Westphal. He does seem like a nice man, but I'm not so sure about being the best coach for this team. I want to believe that things will turn around for our players as well as coach Westphal. My heart feels sad when I see him right now. I truly want to see him succeed as a NBA coach.

Byron Scott is the BEST coach for this team.....we had our chance.

But there's so few real options at this point. A trade may be best one if it can be done and make sense. We can't trade for a HOF NBA coach. No outside coach worth squat would come into a mid-season crisis situation and be grossly underpaid which would be the case. Thus, blaming entire looming disaster on Westphal would only be made more of a joke by putting one of his assistants, like Elie on the hot seat. The Kings have to play 4 complete quarters at some point - you'd think. Against Chicago they played only 2 (1Q and 2Q) , tonight against Indiana they played 3 (1Q, 2Q, and 4Q). That's progress, however feeble.

Why Casspi on Granger over Greene??

PW: Greene played 22 minutes and Casspi 16. Granger was killing everyone so why not have Casspi try to guard him. Other than that I dont know how to answer your question...

It's like thats his answer every damn time/

Do you guys think that part of Tyreke's problem is truly his muscle weight? Something's definitely not right. His ankles? I agree with the poster that said we should just sit him down for a few games, if possible. It seemed like the team flowed so much better when Beno was directing the floor (though I didn't watch the whole game).

First half he was good. Second half not so much. Same pattern as last game.

I agree. When you posted something about that earlier, at the beginning of the 4th, I assumed Donte would go back in. Omri went out, Cisco replaced him. Although Granger did light up Donte to start off the 3rd.

It's his plantar fasciitis. Why are people still talking about his ankles? He's said it's plantar faciitis a number of times.

I really think that the opposing teams have adjusted to Tyreke. Now Tyreke has to come up with a counter. Part of that is learning not to force things. (Easier said than done though on a team with really no playmakers other than him). Part of it is developing the outside shot. And maybe part is still the plantar faciitis. He's definitely not the difference maker of last year. He'll come back eventually and be a much better player. We just don't know when.

Tyreke needs to learn how to play off the ball. Unless he adds that element to his game he will remain one-dimensional, and halfway decent teams will be able to stop him easily. Of course, how will he learn how to play off the ball when our team has zero offensive schemes that take advantage of off-the-ball movement? Unless you count standing around the perimeter waiting for a bailout pass to jack up a three as off-the-ball movement...

Tyreke has to learn a lot of things. I've seen him work off the ball quite well, surprisingly well, though a lot of that was last year. My guess is the foot problem is impeding him making quick cuts right now.

I'm trying hard to like Donte Greene since he got back as a starter, but each time when I look at his box score it's more mediocrity, more inconsistancy - just not cutting it as a starting SF in the NBA. Tonight he played 22 mins, 3-6 FG, O-2 3pt, ZERO rebounds, 0-0 FT (mainly because he rarely drives, camped out endlessly at 3pt line), 1 steal, 2 PF, Zero TO is nice but he was timid on offense which is mostly the reason it seems. Could not handle Granger at all, of course no one on Kings made a dint, even Tyreke checked him for awhile with no impact. IMO that grades a solid D (and I don't mean D as in D-Fence for Greene - close to a big fat F). Plenty of horrible grades to pass out for Kings with exception of Cuz and Beno.

This game shows me something, this team can get into a rhythm and fall apart...There are lots of young players and Tyreke has obviously been hurting for a while probably all summer even since he didn't play with team USA so this year will have more learning than winning. I hope the fans can handle it and people start packing that arena someday...I Digress I watched the game and was glad to have a team to call my own!

Also, in our defense, Indiana is a really good team this year, definitely way better than us. And if there's one thing for me to take consolation in, is that Indiana's W keeps the Miami CHeat 6th place in the east.

I'm not sure the camping is his fault. PW defined the SF role at the beginning of the season as "defend, rebound, make open shots". No driving or trying to create anything on offense. Both Donte and Casspi now camp aimlessly at the 3-point line because that's what Westphal is telling them to do. It's painful to watch, to me it's especially disturbing to see Casspi doing that, because the one thing Casspi had consistently was the fire, energy, and intensity, and it seem like Westphal just neutered the SF position for both Donte and Omri.

Yep if you go back to summer league both of them were driving and both said they were looking to add that to their game more but coming into the reg season and in preseason WP says camp.

Umm Donte's assignment was to guard Granger today not be a rebounding machine...I think Donte did ok against Granger, he was just on fire to day.
