[Game] Kings v TWolves - 7/17 - 1 pm PDT

I have moderated this forum since August 2001. If there is ONE thing that I will not tolerate it is racism. Shabazz916 has left the building.

In his case I'm not even sure if it's intended racism so much as pure stupidity. Imagine that guy calling Grant's show with these kind of basketball opinions...... would definitely lead to some entertaining radio.

I should have seen this coming. Fans can't handle having two players of equal talent at the same position. It will eventually turn into picking sides, then pointing out the opposing s sides flaws in games, then mockery, then comes the point in which one side wishes failure of the other side just to say I told you so.

Can we be adults this go around?
Are you kidding? This time around? What is that?

I can't get over the notion that they can't coexist. It's not like either is a proven starter

If no other little pickup is made, I get the feeling McLemore (and perhaps Brooks) will be spending some time as the backup SF with Stauskas on the court as well.[/quote]

Lol this is hilarious. It's become a race issue. Yeah, ok.

I think on my list of favorite all time players, a white guy might make it into the top 20 and that would be Dirk. hated the jimmer pick. Hated Hawes as anything but the backup's backup. Liked Jwill and Webber combo, but didn't like him too much as a solo player. Loved brad miller and vlade because they were really good players in their prime.

It's funny how it always becomes a race thing when talking about white players. Sensitive people.

dnt mean it as a racist undertone.. just speaking in classic basketball sesnse..... i want the player with the best chance to be great... role players get you 8th seeds where eventually gets you no where

Get some knowledge about the game. Please, for your own sake.

Long term one WILL triumph over the other, or they are both basically worthless entirely replaceable pieces. if they are platooning 24min a piece then yay, you can have your choice of 8ppg nothing SGs. A disgrace to a pretty damn good history of SGs that the Kings have had. So basically, unless they both suck miserably, the one who doesn't suck will dispatch the one who does suck, and the one who does suck, will turn into a 16min/gm nobody with no trade value and a questionable NBA future. That's the inevitability of having two young SGs occupying the same space. There is not room for both unless neither one is satisfactory and you are just searching for anything from them game to game just as we were with Ben and Thornton last year.

And as an aside, if one of the SGs is going to get reduced to 16min/gm status in the long run, you could do almost as well, and maybe even better, just having Marshon Brooks in that role. People always want to have their cake and eat it too. In our front office's case, to make moves and ignore their consequences. But no, you have to choose. And the sooner you choose, the better the chance to get something out of it.

P.S. one noteworthy, although doubtful possibility: let's say we use DWill to get Josh Smith. Well, even though he's flat too small, from the beginning of the season last year Jerry (yes I know, Jerry, but still) was mentioning the possibility of using Ben as a SF. Now he's 6'4" He ain't no SF. But his handle is a SFs handle. And if DWill is gone, coming off the bench he would only have to go against reserve SFs. There would be problems with the 6'9" guys. But there were problems with everybody else he had to guard last year too. In any case, that would be the one way you take a pair of purish SGs and get enough minutes to sustain both: you supplement one's minutes by playing him out of position somewhere. But you could do better.

I think so too. Especially if Williams is involved in a trade.

I was thinking the same thing about brooks. Knows his role coming in. That's a valuable asset in itself

Um dude straight out called out white players for being white.

Anyway now that the clown has left, Ben is definitely a guy you don't want to give up on yet

I like Ben. My original post was meant as wanting to see equal touches. I mean, they are in a position battle. I just want to see who deserves it more. When ben is getting 2 to 3 times more touches, it gives an unfair advantage when nik has done everything right.

Oh well. It will all work out.

Yep and what's ridiculous is that even though Jimmer is not here anymore, any white player that the Kings sign or draft is automatically going too be thought of as "the next Jimmer" by that kind of fan. Sad to say that at least in the short term, Jimmer's legacy with the Kings is that he's the white guy that all new white guys have to prove they are better then to the dumber portion of the fan base.

It's actually pretty easy to see both coexisting long-term, if they both work out. Stauskas versatility/size/ball-handling allows that to happen off the bench. You make Stauskas into Manu Ginbobli. Let him run some PG, let him run some small-ball SF. Add it all up and you can find 30+ MPG for both guys long-term.

At any rate, having 2 good SG's is an excellent problem to have. Best case, it works out in the situation I outlined above. If not, then you have a valuable trade chip at the worst position in basketball.

Short-term, you bring Ben off the bench to see if he can put his game together. If not, then we're protected with having Stauskas. If so, then we got a nice problem to have if Stauskas does his thing too

When you see "Posted a moment ago" during heavy trade rumors and it's a race war

For differing values of "entertaining," perhaps. :p

tl;dr version: if you have two shooting guards, then you have no shooting guards.

so how is that being sensitive?

I wasn't referring to you. I was talking about him with the "omgz you people only love white playerz" comments. It goes back to the thomas/rodman comments about bird. "Boo hoo, a white guy is popular. Must be racist. Nothing to do with skill."

In case I didn't make myself clear, we do not discuss race, racism, etc. Please let it go. Thanks.

#Really enjoyed the game free flowing, passing, slashing, bashing had a bit of everything

#Mclemore had his best all around game ever that I have watched, played super
#Acy outplayed Dieng and nearly beheaded the rim twice, had a sweet all round game, I think Acy should just work on being something like Serge Ibaka on offence, just shoot open mid range jumpers and dunk put the post game away imo. His jumper looks faster the release as well, it looks really nice
#Staskus: seemed super passive could he be tired? Very down game for him
#Ray had a excellent all round game
#Brooks showed he was born to be a 6th man, just has that snake like movements and craftness hopefully he doesn't run into any Mongoose if he plays for us.
#Moreland: Loved the energy/anger/fight sign him up thank you.

#Zach LaVine I bet a lot of people will regret not taking him

Well if it makes you feel any better, New Orleans has to deal with Jimmer fans AND Omri fans. Presumably jockeying for the same playing time.
