[Game] Kings v. Hawks 11/05/13 Game Thread

Hard to play defensive when you miss so many shots on offense. Cousins is late back because he is getting in position for all these offensive boards but the shots never go in making him the last one back.
 
One and done. One and done. One and done and giving up offensive rebounds everywhere.

Get Salmons off the court. Put it Trout or JT.
 
I said before this game this game was make or break - bad or mediocre, and we see where we are heading - which isn't good when we are finalizing this arena push
 
Regardless of the situation, Cousins' body language is a problem. He's showing all of the negative things Malone has issue with in regards to body language.

This is the Warriors game in a nut shell. Throw up a shot, miss, run back to 'play defense'. Meanwhile they get 2nd chance points all night long.
 
I'm having a hard time believing GV is better than Jimmer at ANY aspect of the game. Jimmer should be the starting PG.
 
Rewind and watch the last 5 kings offensive possessions. Never a look to cousins. When Vasquez shot up the bricked 3 cuz just shook his head.
 
I guess we decided we were just going to continue chucking up contested 3's.

Big reason why I'm strongly leaning towards IT and Thompson as starters -

Teague - 14 PTS, 8 AST
Millsap - 13 PTS, 7 REB
 
that was absolutely embarrassing how many Open jumpers and offensive rebounds we just gave up in the last 5 minutes of the half. holy crap that was sad
 
We simply don't have enough good players. As I said in a note we have Cuz, IT, McLemore and then what? PPat does nothing. MT does nothing. Maybe Outlaw should be out on the court more but still..... Don't have a clue about Mbah a Moute. GV is just tall. Just about any but the top three could be replaced unless Mbah a Moute actually turns out to be a great defender.
 
It's ridiculous how there are posters calling out Cousins for body language, MT for missing shots, or Vasquez for not passing to Cousins when the REAL PROBLEM is having Salmons, Chuck, or PPat on the court--guys who either can't hit shots, can't rebound, or can't defend.
 
Cousins with only 1 shot attempt in the second quarter. The first quarter he was 3-4, or 3-3 if you don't include that silly 3 point shot. What else? He had 2 assists in that first quarter when we were playing through him. Hmmm.
 
Real problem brewing with Cousins. Not getting the ball, not happy at all. Just flat quit on that last play when Vasquez gave up on him posting to give it to Salmons, again. May kill Vasquez during halftime. Not sure I would mind.

No, this game isn't make or break, and it's certainly not pivotal in terms of "finalizing this arena push." People really need to step back from the cliff a little bit.

Give things a chance. Let Malone do his job and let the players learn theirs.
 
We have too many weak individual defenders. Geesh Patterson is in another zip code on defense. Does this guy know who he's supposed to guard?

Malone isn't a wizard. Our starting unit consists of terrible defensive players. When Cousins is arguably the best defender in that lineup .. well, that's not good.

As much as I think jimmer is a one trick pony. Vasquez all of a sudden does nothing well. No shooting no defense ball getting stolen from him and he is shooting in the face of a posting cousins.

I think he hit his head harder than may have been thought when he collided with (name escapes me)'s knee. He's looked completely different since then, at least to me.
 
I don't think cousins had 1 post attempt that quarter. Why does thornton shoot contested 3s with 18sec on the shot clock?!? It's never been a good shot

Salmons has had his best game of the season.

However, that's not the issue. The issue is that you need your leader and main guy holding his teammates accountable while still supporting them. When Cousins hangs his head and pouts, doesn't get back in transition and just sends an overall defeated message, it hurts the team.

I want to see Cuz clapping for his teammates made baskets. I want to see him making statements at deadballs. I don't want my eyes to wander towards him after every missed shot because I suspect he's publicly dismissing his team.
