Kings trying to move up for McLemore?

depending on what Cleveland does with their pick, it's not inconceivable that one of Noel or Porter is available. putting yourself in the position to draft one of those two is easily worth the "price" of trading Thornton for Dudley (long contract, but cheap and an infinitely better fit than Thornton).

Realistically, I think that PHX wants to unload Beasley. And I don't want him anywhere near DeMarcus.

yeah, makes a lot more sense, sadly. would have to think long and hard on that one. Beasley is one of the last players I want on this team, even if it's just for a year.

its nice that the new FO is actually agressive. but i honestly dont like this move. id rather just stay at 7 and take Burke or McCollum.

Porter or Oladipo would be the only ones worth doing this for. and they will both be gone before 5.......

on the surface it's trading a badly fitting player for someone filling a need, while moving up in draft and saving money in the process. it only falls apart because of that guy you're trading for.

I don't really care for McLemore that much. I see his BCS as a purer shooting Jason Richardson, not anything worth trading up for IMO. Hope I'm wrong though.

I just feel real iffy on Mclemore. He doesn't seem like a Malone guy or the sort of player the Kings are looking out for. He was reportedly out of shape and his question marks are about assertiveness.

Of course, you'd HAVE to get rid of Thornton or Evans. Tyreke at PG is Maloof-era nonsense.

James Ham just tweeted this:

This could get very interesting. Lets see what happens... Great to see the FO aggressive, though.

Awesome. Has a ring of truth to it, too.

Getting psyched!!!

I have a feeling we are in for a ride with this young, active, hungry coach and GM.

Apparently there's a deadline for trades before the draft and it passed without any filings, so every team will draft at their spot, but obviously trades can be made during draft process. Clearly everyone is looking who'll be available at certain picks.

If they waited this long to make the trade, they're going to wait until the draft gets started to see for sure if the player they want is going to be at the pick they're trading for.

I don't think this means much. Teams are reluctant to trade before knowing the actual player on the board anyway. It just means they'll get their draft picture taken in the wrong hat, and we'll get an announcement later in the draft about where they're actually going to go. I still expect a lot of trades to go down.

Rumours that McLemore bombed his Suns workout must be true.

And:

Wonder if his Suns workout was after the Kings, and he was asked to bomb it cause we were gonna work on getting him here, we really wanted him, have a place and plan for him... a team that believes in you is worth doing something like that to help them get you.

I don't think Mclemore worked for us. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If McLemore makes it to #5 PHX, I think they'd want Zeller #7 SAC, and they would swap with PHX getting a future pick or the Kings taking back a bad contract, something like that.

I think a lot of this is going to depend on the other pieces. I don't really see Phx or NO wanting McLemore so there's a chance we could still get him without having to give up anything else.

McLemore never worked out for the Kings.

I am a little weary of him. I don't question his talent. Picture perfect jumper and an elite athlete, but I do have other questions. His assertiveness, does he have the killer instinct? I don't know if it was Kansas that just didn't get him the ball enough, or if he didn't demand it. In interviews, he doesn't have confidence and is nervous. That's not too big a deal - I've seen videos of him in his comfort zone and he seems much more natural and a smart enough guy. But when he's talking about his game he struggles somewhat, not sure if that's relevant at all but putting it out there. More than likely just a confidence thing.

The thing is, he does have that star swagger going for him. You see him play and sometimes you just think "that guy is a star." Other times, he completely disappears for 10 minutes. But his talent is unquestionable. He's a decent defender with the potential to be a good one, I don't worry about him there. But he really needs to work on his ball-handling and getting to the rim, he's too athletic to be relegated to just a jump-shooter.

As for the out of shape thing, I heard that too but I saw a workout video of him from a couple of weeks ago and he looks in terrific shape, like he was all season. I'm not sure where that came from...

TRob never had the star swagger.

As for the out of shape, nervoussness, all that... does not concern me at all. Why? Cause we finally have a good coach! And a plan! In fact, I actually don't want players in shape when they don't absolutely need to. The body needs recovery periods during the year. Plus honestly, it conveys a loose confidence in himself and his game. Seems like the guy has fun about the whole thing. Not like a Donte fun, but a joy of playing, that's usually comes from pure talent. Not that all talent will show that, but a guy who is so good and confident that you can see him have relaxation and joy around the whole process I would take actually as more of a good sign than bad, and not at all a sign that he won't get down to business when it's time for business.

The Chad Ford/Bill Simmons draft preview wasn't that positive for Mclemore. I know people here hate those two, but Simmons was positive on Mclemore while Ford was doubting. Before you hate, understand that Chad Ford is a Kansas basketball fan, and like Pollard, he's got questions about the guy. The damning thing was the comment by Tim Hardaway Jr that all he had to do to guard Mclemore is not give him space to get off his shot and the comment by Ford that Mclemore can't get to the rim because he struggles on the dribble. You take away the lob cut and you don't give him space to shoot and he fades away. It's not just about being assertive, but that he wasn't beating smart defense and when he missses shots early then he just loses confidence.
