Too bad Sacramento has a weak mayor system. Being Mayor gives almost no additional clout over the other council members. Sacramento is one of the bigger cities to still have the weak mayor system. Still, he's trying his darndest to back a new arena.

A lot of businesses are also in favor of an arena deal and keeping the Kings, including the Kings "100" members.

I agree with you about the weak mayor system. That being said, if KJ had been Mayor instead of Fargo, I have a feeling that the Kings would have a new arena by now. I like how he has tried to keep the Kings and the idea of a new arena in the public since he became Mayor. Prior to him, only those of us who really cared to look really had any idea of what was going on. The general public had no clue at all (a lot still don't, but he can only do so much).

For the 147th time, MELO IS NOT COMING to Sactown. They may ship him here but he can opt out next summer to go to NY or Chi or any big market city. Knowing that don't see Petrie pulling the strings if he has to give up 1 or 2 firsts and 2 of our best young guys.

Who said Melo was coming to Sac? Doesn't mean there isn't a deal with Melo where the Kings can get involved and come away a winner.

In Melo's defense, he fit perfectly in Team USA and was even one of the most valuable players. So you really can't say he wouldn't fit in with Reke or Cousins....couse he would. and there u go....we have our own "big three". not to mention you got a Beno (who didn't look bad at all last year), Greene and Caspi. Not to mention you also have Thompson, Dalli, and even Whiteside. Melo would not only fit it, but he wouldn't even need to be "the guy". this should take alot of stress away from the rest....

Team USA is not sufficient proof that a player could thrive for an 82 game season, which includes ups and downs, a couple of losing streaks here and there, injuries, etc. Team USA is together for a month or so, and they steamroll everybody they play, and it's all fun and games and a cool way to travel around the world with your friends and play some basketball. It's not being on an NBA team with the same guys, playing legitimate competition, and trying to survive for six months.

I can understand with Melo involved, but we all know that isn't going to happen so let's just hope we have our "Big 2" and down the road we can stumble upon our player to fill out that big 3 role.
