well I find that surprising. yes I was seething.

What was also terrible was that he screwed his players by not allowing them to finish out the season strong. That is the ultimate betrayal, because the players busted their behinds to try to get to 0.500 mark, but Joeger couldn't care less. He screwed those players too.

If Joeger was a professional, he would had finished out the string strong and showed the Kings brass that they were making a mistake by letting him go. But instead, he chose to burn all the bridges on the way out. IMHO, that cost him future head coaching gigs too.

yeah that's how I remember it. Other person said the players quit on Joerger. I remember it being the other way around. Of course his insistence on playing 3 guards and keeping Bogi and Buddy on the floor together was also a massive problem. I didn't have a problem with him making Bagley earn time on the floor (nor did I with Brown doing this to Keegan to start the season) but as time wore on he just wouldn't do it no matter what cost. It was cutting his nose off to spite his face night in night out. I know a lot of folks were calling for his head by the all star break, while some others were afraid he would go to Minnesota and leave us at the altar.

I'm glad we will soon enough exorcise those demons once and for all.

Davion really needs to figure out how to get it going when he is in his normal role. It's nice he can have a game like this because it means hopefully he'd be an attractive trade chip if he can't do that. But it's a bit frustrating. It's not like he doesn't get any minutes at all. And the results have shown thus far that in general we are not a good team when Fox doesn't play. Thunder did not pass an eye test of a team beyond a 12 seed last night.

Brown might have to help him a bit with some play calls as he's giving Davion the toughest position in the league which is backup PG. Imagine you're not even a PG as a 24 year old 2nd year player and you get 4-5 minute blips to be that and not suck. We all know once you're Davions age it's hard to break out of the mold of the type of player you are and for Davion to make a real dent in the NBA he's going to need to be a PG or close to it because of his size. Patrick Beverley part 2 but the micro version is a hard path since there are very few examples of someone like that sticking long term. The Bulls seem to love players like him though so there's a chance. Davion under Gentry's pick and roll system late last year was a good sign for him but it was obviously the garbage part of the season so who knows how real it was. He can be somewhere in between most likely. He's streaky shooter and if you let him run pick and roll and give him the middle rather than try and read defenses or teammates he'll produce.

Basically the only coaching complaint I have about Brown is I wish he would be a little more lenient with how he structures his positions. Monk/Heurter basically never move from the 2. Fox/Davion rarely ever move from the 1. Keegan doesn't move from the 3. Lyles doesn't move from the 4. He's only recently committed to TD down to the 3, but for most of the season he was out the rotation or sparingly at the 2 when we had an injury.

I think if he played at least a bit next to Fox he'd be able to get in more of a rhythm. You could still fit everybody's minutes if you cycle Huerter down to the 3 some And just from what I remember about this season, especially in closing situations, Fox/Davion flying around the back-court defensively is just absolutely absurd to contend with.

But THEN the problem is that cuts Monk's potential of being 25+ MPG on a consistent basis. Which he probably should be.

I think Monk is core at this point. His extension should be a priority after next season right after Domas gets his max. But I think you have to make the decision between Davion and TD this off-season: Either TD walks and Davion wins that spot. And you start incorporating him more with Fox to get better playing time. Or you sign TD to like a 3/15 sort of deal and flip Davion for assets and just invest in Monk being the back-up PG going forward.

I agree, but I think Brown knows what he's doing. I think he's started to finally push some things here and there personnel wise to see who he goes with in the playoffs. At this point I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Brown cut his rotation down to 8-9 some nights and I wouldn't be shocked to see Monk jump huge minutes wise then and maybe do exactly that and play Huerter more at the 3.

As for Davion and TD, the playoffs will tell it all. My fear is that if this team looks like they are indeed that 1 piece away that Monte busts his cap Vlade/Petrie style on 3rd-4th bigs and 5th guards regardless of who it is, haha. I don't think he will though.

that thread was a trip. didn't read every post. it's so funny to see people who have vanished, Christine's first post and the last post. Everyone hates Jamal vs. Jamal the betting champion today. lol.

The themes from the beginning of the load management era, can't beat a team resting their stars. Caleb Swanigan. Love for Bagley.

And yes, for 90% of us just sheer disgust for what happened. I am glad we have these time capsules to look back on.
It's also pretty amazing compared to the guys/coach/look of stability vs. the uncertainty that offseason brought. This is real. That was a dream.

This is real.

I think what I'm most interested in is if he actually cuts Metu out of the rotation and just starts rocking with Lyles as the back-up 4 and 5. I somewhat get it during the regular season, but man, Metu getting attack on defense over the course of a 7-game playoff series just doesn't sound fun.

Brown makes pretty quick adjustments, I have no reason to believe he will continue to let a disadvantage happen without exploring an alternative. Especially not when the chips are on the table.

Her write ups right now for this team would be historic.

The Sacramento Kings lost a true fan and artist. She had a way of preparing us for a game, and this team would have brought out her best. She would have LOVE Keegan.

Just another reason to give thanks for this season

I miss her something fierce this season, but know she has the best seat in the house too. Great post PS!
