I wouldn't call Tyreke selfish more than simply not knowing what to do. He just makes his mind up and doesn't have the kind of vision that great PGs have. That doesn't make him any less valuable to us, but it does cause our offense to be shaky at this point. If Tyreke sees a pass he can make, he'll make it. I think a lot of it also has to do with his own confidence in his passing, and in a sense he's doing us a favour by not trying to do something he can't. In other words, sometimes a guy is open, but a difficult pass must be made for him to get the ball - the timing must be perfect and the ball passed quickly, something that Evans is unable to do.
Thing is, once he sort of makes up his mind that he's going to get to the rim, he does exactly that. Half the time he kicks it out, making a good play, and that's where all the assists come from, provided guys hit their shots. A quarter of the time he makes a spectacular play and lays it up well, and the other quarter of the time he forces up a tough shot that doesn't go anywhere near the rim. Out of that quarter, half the time JT or somebody gets the offensive putback. I'm just very roughly estimating the percentages of course, but I hope my point gets across. The more I think about it, the more I realise that Tyreke almost never makes an easy lay up in a half court set. It's always some acrobatic shot or a tough shot in traffic or something of that sort. What that means is that the defense is focused on clogging up the lane as we all know, and as such the shots he's taking are very tough shots. We need to have better spacing when he drives and have a cutter that he can dump the ball off to for an easy shot. That's what I envisioned with him and Cousins(or any remotely talented big man), Evans driving, dumps the ball off to Cousins and Cousins just dunks it. I've seen that about 0 times this season so far.
