Kings talking to Daniel Santiago??

The Malaga Post, a spanish language newspaper indicates Puerto Rican center Daniel Santiago is talking to the Kings as well as the TWolves. He looked pretty good in the USA-Puerto Rico game last week. Don't know much about him tho'

Yep. By quite a bit.

At least Tag caould both reboudn and block shots at the NBA level. Santiago is just one of those guys that in the NBA is pure 12th man fodder. He tried it, hung around for about 5 years, but he was always just a pure garbage time player. Given all the extra bodies we've already got laying around, I have no idea what all we would do with him. You could always invite him to camp, but I would be a little afraid of any decicion to keep him at the expense of one fo the kids trying to make the team.

I don't really see the big deal -- there's not a free agent out there right now who would likely be an impact big. It's not like any center we sign at this point is going to be the answer to all our prayers. Why get bent out of shape about Santiago?

Cato, if healthy, yes. Kandi, if motivated, yes. If not, Santiago isn't the worst option I can think of.

He's not really an NBA level talent. If we were actually signing him, as in signing him, that's just garbage. He's 30 years old and was around for years in the NBA as a complete scrub. If he had never played in the league that would be one thing but as is there's just no reason to do that sort of thing with a proven nonentity given our roster, and how close we are to the tax line -- it would mean we could pick nobody else up.

Still thinking that if there really was any interest it would just be an invite type deal, but who knows anymore.
