King's scouting?

I wonder what our scouting team is like. What the budget is like I wonder. Since we know that we don't have an international scouting team. I wonder what budget is for scouting? Given the Maloof money problems I bet we have the lowest scouting budget in the league. No wonder we rely on the predraft workouts for much. I bet the reason why we give up second round picks for nothing we don't have the money to scout the lower draft ranked players.

I think its a widely known fact that Kings are operating bare bones basketball department and this has previously been reported by the Bee (might have been Voisin). Over the year we have stripped down front office overall and that includes scouting department.

It is one of many reasons why we have been struggling so much in the last 6 or so years. I've got no doubt that a lot of our issues start with the severe lack of money for a professional team. We have been running bare bones operations on all fronts, front office, coaching staff, playing group, marketing department....everywhere.

With new ownership that can afford to run a basketball team, expect us to invest heavily in these areas over the coming years. Hopefully we get the right people in right roles otherwise it could be really painful. Having more money won't solve the problem unless we use that money smartly.

Scotty Sterling used to be the head of the Kings scouting dept. Prior to that, he was a scout for the Warriors for many years. I have no idea if he's still with the team or not. Petrie used to go over to europe every summer to scout players and I don't think he did last summer. In response to the idea of not having the money to scout players that might be second round picks. Well 1st round or 2nd round is in the eye of the beholder, and regardless of who you may be scouting, your probably going to see the 2nd round guys by accident along the way.

The problem, if your cutting back on your budget, is that you'll probably try and schedule watching games with two top teams with a lot of prospects. In other words, more bang for the buck so to speak. As a result you probably won't schedule teams like Lehigh or Bucknell, and as a result, you might miss out on guys like Lillard.

..... and my beer was warm Wednesday at the game. First time in 28 years as a season ticket holder. Kings Dog was Ok. My set didn't break. And the usher did carry my warm beer to my seat. Can you believe it, warm beer? No scouts I can handle, but warm beer?

Unless the beer is cask conditioned, no one should suffer warm beer. My condolences.
