[Game] Kings @ Rockets, 26 Mar 2000 EST

Having teammates/coach who don't treat him as the 5th option would help. Nice of you to bring that up without mentioning IT/MT not allowing him to get in a rhythm as they were too busy shooting.

I don't buy that at all. The leagues best players don't rely on other factors to get going. If he really wants to take charge he can do it...the problem is when he does he usually screws it up.

Well... to be fair he got 26 shots and 12 FT attempts. I'd say that's getting the ball quite a bit

You have to feed the monster no matter what. You didn't see the Lakers stop giving Shaq the ball because he filled his shot quota for the night.

So now we hate IT?

yeesh

It's never been about hate. It's been about Smart giving up on true long term progress by going to small ball, and IT is the by product of that change. IT found success off the bench. He got his minutes by playing that role well. Smart decided to chase after more points and change the identity to a run and gun no defense team.
Now, Smart can't make a change because of the dumb "ROY" thing they've setup. It's taken a horrible turn, and it's disguised because people like seeing a lot of points over long term progress.

Oh, my mistake. So Reke instead of showing he's team first and trying to fit into whatever crap system this is, should steal the ball from his own teammates, namely IT or MT, and start calling clear outs so he can get in a rhythm. Ok. I thought he might get criticized for that. Silly me.

When he's team first and looking to pass, even when barely touching the ball, it's his fault for not being more aggressive. Then when he is more aggressive, he gets blamed for being a ball stopper. Same old, same old. Reke's fault....

It's Reke's fault IT and MT are ballhogs. Face it, he's the biggest bust in pro sports since Jamarcus Russell.

Don't know who that is, so I'm going to presume it's football related. I'll keep it to basketball, and say he's the biggest bust since Olowokandi.

That was the bright point. Frankly there is no lottery team with a brighter future right now because of that one player. As long as he doesn't end up on murder charges some night after he watches our chuckers throw up 20 bricks while he calls for the ball he's the league's next dominant center, and there has never been anything more valuable to have in the game of basketball.
Minnesota has a very bright future.

I only watched the first half, bit of a late one, but wow, what happened! Seemed to be going so well in the first half. Only person i saw putting up bad shots was Donte, he threw up a terrible three and then tried a Lebron style back down and threw the ball away. But you can forgive that considering we were up big at the time.

Saw a lot of things i liked in that half especially on D, Evans, MT, Cousins looking for steals and strips, working hard and getting run outs, was fun to watch.

seems kinda fortunate i didn't tune into the second half, can't comment on why we lost.

MT and IT implosion is what happened.

Minnesota has a very bright future.

I'd say brighter, because of Rick.

Meanwhile, our lame duck coach carousel will continue, as our prospects leave town for brighter pastures.

I'm not going to get excited about our future until the Maloofs and GP are outta town. (Although if by some miracle we make the playoffs, I'll get excited about the present).
