Where is Justin Williams anyway?Never admired his work ethic or health, and yet you think he's perfect for the Kings "when healthy and with starter's minutes."
Um, what? I don't care if he'll pay us to play, if he has a poor work ethic, is injury prone and can only be productive with starter minutes I don't want him anywhere near the Kings. There are too many other players out there with pretty much the same skill set but without the baggage.
And no offense whatsoever, but you thinking he has double-double ability isn't enough to change my mind. People thought Justin Williams had double-double ability, too, and where is he again?

I think we're letting the market set the price. Did we renounce the rights to him, or any of our expiring contracts. Kings.com shows all the FA's still being on the roster, & Hoopsworld shows a $8M cap hold for Ike.Right now I'm actually pleased that the Kings FO isn't just rushing into anything. Maybe getting burned on the Beno deal has made them a little gunshy. Beno had a much bigger audition, and the Kings guessed wrong. At least up to this point.
Beno came here as a, not used much player, and played very well for half a season. Unfortunately, last year he showed why he hadn't been used much. Diogu came in as a, not used much player last year and played well for two games. I think I would wait a while and see who else shakes out after the money starts to dry up around the league. There are times when doing nothing, is better than doing something, just to be doing something.

Yes, since we didn't make him a QO he became a UFA. As such, I don't believe we retain the right to match offer sheets or the right of first refusal. He's free to go anywhere he wants. But, according to Coon's FAQ, FA's don't stop counting against the salary cap until they 1) resign with origin team, 2) sign with a different team, or 3) the original team renounces the player. Link:http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q19Every report I've read says that the Kings didn't make him a qualifying offer. Which should make him a unrestricted freeagent. As far as renouncing his Bird rights, I don't know..

So, we do retain his Bird Rights, which simply means we can go over the cap to resign him. In the mean time, he has a salary cap hold of $8M which counts against our salary cap. So, we need to sign him or renounce him to eliminate his cap hold and free up our cap space.
I doubt very much that Portland feels the same way. I imagine that if they wanted another one-way big to backup Aldridge, they would have kept Frye.

A 6'10", 260-lb. power forward-center from the University of Wyoming, Williams went undrafted by an NBA team and started to play with the NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards, averaging 12.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.08 blocks in 12 games. He was signed by the Sacramento Kings to a first 10-day contract on January 5, 2007.[2] After the Kings released power forward Maurice Taylor on January 23, Williams was signed for the rest of season after his two 10-day contracts expired.
On February 16, 2008, Williams was waived by Sacramento together with teammate Dahntay Jones to make room for a trade that sent the Kings' veteran point guard Mike Bibby to the Atlanta Hawks. On March 7, he was signed by the Houston Rockets to a 10-day contract.[3] He played in one game for the Rockets.
Williams was brought to Golden State Warriors training camp on September 27, 2008[4], but he was cut after appearing in two pre-season games.
On October 16, 2008, Williams was signed by the Charlotte Bobcats. But six days later, he was waived again after failing to impress in three pre-season games.[5]
