SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento Kings on Tuesday let go of all four assistant coaches who worked for coach Eric Musselman last season.

Scott Brooks, Brendan O'Connor, Mark Hughes and Clay Moser were all relieved of their duties, President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie said.

Reggie Theus was hired last month to replace Musselman, who went 33-49 in his one season as Kings coach.

I wish them all good luck in future endeavors, especially Scott Brooks. I think he has the potential to someday wear the big guy's cap.

Well best of luck and all that, but these guys looked as overwhelmed and over their heads as their head guy. It was like everybody had been promoted one level above their pay grade, and then with no leader to boot. Guess there will be no holdover.

Slightly off topic, but this reminds me: Reggie made some remark about letting his top assistant coach summer league, whihc would be the normal approach. That starts here ina few days -- do we have any idea who its going to be? Not Brooks apparently (although I never thought =that would really happen).

so is jason hamm staying on board this year?
That was my 1st question, too.

Reggie did say he would coach the summer league team, if he had to and said he was going to take his time on the assistants. It still wouldn't surprise me if someone is named shortly. The above announcement may have been just to clear the boards for an announcement of some new assistants.

By the way, all of the above guys are "relieved of their duties," but are still under contract and getting paid. I'm sure they'll ask to be realeased if they get another job.

Final question...why can't I get paid lots of money for sitting home in my hammock with a good book and ice cold lemonade? :D

Incompetence appears ot be the key. Give it a try -- just screw up miserably at every occasion on your job over the next 8-9 months, and see if you don't end up with the opportunity to relax in the ole hammock for a while. ;)

I definetely wish Scott and the rest of the guys good luck in their futures. I would have to think that Randy Brown will be one of Reggie's guys when he starts bringing in assistants, as has been rumored.

Note: Jason Hamm was NOT relieved of his duties and will remain with the team. I'm glad, because he really used to work hard with the kids. I think I even have him in a couple of my game pictures as he was drenched with sweat from "warming up" Garcia and Martin before the Utah game.

Yeah you would always see him working with the guys in the backround of the pregame telecasts.

I assume that means Bubba Burrage who has Kings title of Assistant Coach & Primary Advance Scout remains with the team. Considering that there are apparently a couple of fairly prominent hold-overs I would guess Theus could use one of them to coach summer league, do it himself, or have a new Assistant selected soon to take the duties.

Dang... now that Lasix company has to laser another assistant coach, and make him talk about his Lasix.

UGH!

Good luck Coaches.
