Interesting.

P.S. Reke looks way taller than Iggy. Uh-oh.
At the combine Tyreke was 6'4" without shoes. Iguodala was 6'5.75" without shoes. Other SFs to measure out at 6'5.75" without shoes include Thaddeus Young, Jared Dudley, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. I wouldn't panic about Iggy being tall enough to play SF especially not until he's actually on our team.

The Mav's have the most cap room, and at the moment, they're borderline nothing. They only have 4 players under contract...
No, they don't, Atlanta does. In fact, Nowitzki makes more money by himself than everybody Atlanta has under contract, combined. And, they'll be in a position to guarantee him a starting gig, even if they re-sign Josh Smith and Jeff Teague.

"I love shooters and guys who attack the rim," D'Alessandro said. "McLemore and Evans seems to make a lot of sense."

With Evans' situation and free agency in mind, D'Alessandro declined to pick up the options on James Johnson and Toney Douglas.

"You can always re-sign a guy," he said, "and we want to be one of those teams that gets out there and really goes after guys. I never worry about having too much talent. The talent has to blend, true, but I have creative coaches. And, look, we have a lot of work ahead, a lot of work ahead. We're going to be out there."

Ugh, this brings joy to my heart, damn it. And tears to my eyes

Terrific. We're caught in a race for a key FA with Mark Cuban. Just our luck.
If Dwight goes to Houston, with Paul staying in LA, I don't know if they are so much more attractive then us. They have an aging Nowitzki, and nothing else. They could throw some money to Josh Smith, but we have a young talented core and it looks like we will have better chances to make the playoffs in the next 2/3 seasons. I still think it's a pretty long shot, but I like our chances.

Good, but maybe expected, news:

The @SacramentoKings will meet with FA Andre Iguodala, according to @SpearsNBAYahoo

Shows that he's at least willing to listen to us. That's a good sign. Now down to PDA to convince him.

I'm happy to see the Kings going after Iguodala if they can make that work while resigning Evans. But I still like Dorrell Wright as a plan B.

I think we'll have to clear some more space to have a chance. Maybe Jimmer for a future 2nd to a team that has cap space. Similar to what Houston just did with Robinson.

So I'm sitting here thinking. We re-sign Tyreke to play at the 1. McLemore plays 2, We get Iggy to play 3, we got Cuz at 5 and a combo at 4.

Not a bad lineup the first year out of maloofery. If it happened this way I'd be very impressed.

im glad to see hes actually meeting with us...theres really only 2 problems with iggy; his age and his shooting, but he would be reallly good fit giving us another ball handler and obviously his defense. #make it happen pete...and salary wise we would just have to amnesty salmons to stay under the cap this year(signing reke aswell) bt i would like to explore s&t with denver giving them marcus thorton, maybe even marcus thorton and john salmons expiring contract(1m buyout)..not sure about their cap situation though..

It's really more of a cap management issue than it is about expending assets. Yes we can theoretically sign Igoudala without trading anyone but if you want to re-sign Evans and Cousins to market value deals as well, something has to give. Even amnestying Salmons' contract we don't have enough to sign Igoudala and Evans without moving Thornton and we have to send back equal salary to Denver somehow. And anyway I don't feel comfortable at all having Jason Thompson as the starting PF on a playoff level team. After watching him play for the past 5 seasons, the idea of JT on the floor in crunch time of a must-win game scares the heck out of me. I suppose a three team trade is also possible, with someone else stepping in to absorb the cap hit, but we have to be giving them something too.
I was talking about Denver's side of the issue, not the Kings. How they resolve the cap issue is another story, but if their actively persuing Iggy, then I have to assume that they have a plan on how to accomplish it cap wise. As for JT being the starting PF on a championship team, well I think your putting the cart before the horse a little bit. last time I looked, we weren't even close to being a championship team. So thats a bridge we'll cross when we get close. In short, he's the best we have right now, and until someone comes along thats better, I'm hanging on to him.

That's pretty funny. I was thinking the same things about JT. Dude plays hard but has really low basketball IQ and will be prone to make crucial mistakes in NBA playoffs.
Really! Tell me how many times last season the headline was, "Jason Thompson's mistake costs the Kings the Game"? Lets all just beat up on JT now! He'll do until were ready to beat up on the new guys. JT is what he is, and if he were on another team, there would be people on this fourm saying we should trade for him. We all talk about how Tyreke and Cousins have been jerked around since being drafted by the Kings. Do you think JT has been immune to that. He's been here longer than both of them, and has probably been jerked around more than anyone. He's a solid jouneyman PF/Center. He would probably be better served to come off the bench in either capacity, but at the moment, he's the best we have, unless you want to start Patterson.

I stand corrected! Ferry has done a good job of cleariing space in Atlanta. But my point is, the Mav's do have a lot of cap room, and probably the ability to clear more if they need it. Cuban for some reason doesn't want to get rid of Marion, but will if necessary.

Without signing anyone, and that includes resigning Iggy, their sitting at just under 52 mil, which puts them over the cap. So they don't have a lot of flexability in the freeagent market. Doing a sign an trade for Thornton would get them back something in return.

i honestly think thorton would be a great fit with denver, albeit i dont kno what kind of style brian shaw is bringing, bt he would give them more outside shooting and he always has the ability to jus go crazy from anywhere on the court when hes hot ala the miami game.

At this point, I'm much more interested in going after Asik than Iggy.

Be careful what you wish for with Iguodala. He's going to be expensive. Evans is going to be expensive. Cousins is going to be expensive, and down the road McLemore is going to be expensive (hopefully).

We can only spend so much money without addressing the long term issue this team will have - defense inside.

i think our perimeter defense and michael malones scheme will help with our defense inside...look at what he did with golden state...and most of our bad defense inside was do to perimeter guys penetrating...with reke/mclemore/iggy we would have potential to be dominant on the perimeter.

I like JT and that means we are well on our way when the hardest working player, the most consistant player, and the guy willing do whatever is asked of him while shooting a team high fg% is now the whipping boy. I am happy with that. You will never hear me say once bad thing about JT. Great guy, great role player, deserves every penny he got last year and actually picked his game up after the contract.

Golden State wasn't a great defensive team, they were middle of the pack ... which is somewhat impressive because Curry, Barnes, and Thompson are not amazing individual defenders, and David Lee is terrible on that end.

That being said, all year GSW dedicated a spot in their starting lineup to a defender inside. First Ezili who gave them nothing but defense and then Bogut, who after returning from injury was basically just a defender as well.

Everyone forgets about JT, but you have to respect the guy. He was one of first guys we picked when we entered the down years and has been here the whole time. He sucks it up, doesn't complain, and does his job. He has missed a total of 14 games in his 5 year career. I hope he get a chance to be a part of a winning team soon and hopefully as a King.

Considering Iggy tweeted Vivek's name, I suspect he will be interviewed by PDA and Vivek at the least. I can't find fault with that as I am beginning to think Vivek could sell refrigerators to Eskimos.

Just like with Reke, I'm a bit of a detractor when it comes to the supposed market value of Iggy. He's a good all around player that would go along way to solidifying our 3 spot and changing the culture of the team, but he's not a star and imho should not be making some of the numbers I hear associated with his name. I'll assume our front office know what they are doing on this

Of course Iggy is the better player but Chandler would be a good consolation prize both on the books & court. He's the guy we should target imo.

1.Evans
2.Mac
3.Chandler
4.Patterson
5.Cuz

P diddy "take that take that take that"

You win with players his age or 5 years older. He's 29/30 for craps sake. :p
