Here's something that I was kicking around:

Kings send:
Mike Bibby

Atlanta Sends:
Acie Law IV
Marvin Williams
Speedy Claxton

Reason: Bibby would pacify Joe Johnson's request for a second scoring option. Bibby would also provide experience to a very young team and could get the Hawks to the top of the dreadful Atlantic division. Acie Law would love to come play for his favorite team.

The Kings would unload Bibby's contract and get a potentially great young scoring PG in return with a promising 3 man that might encourage Artest to keep his act together else he's out the door. Claxton's contract would suck, but at least we could squeeze what little gas is left in his tank.

I actually kind of like this trade. I don't know if it works salary wise. How big is Speedy's contract and for how long? I think that Petrie tried to aquire Claxton once before. My only problem with Law is his shot, or lack of a shot from the outside. But then, Magic couldn't shoot when he came into the league and he did OK.

The trade does work.

I think the Hawks would do this. Marvin will be competing with Horford for a starting role, while he would easily start on the Kings. Speedy may be overpaid, but his salary actually goes down, rather than up. The trade would mean that neither Greene nor Shakur would likely make the team, however.

I find it hard to see why they'd want to send us Acie Law, on a rookie contract, in return for a guy who is basically a declining Acie Law, with an enormous paycheck, at the tail end of his contract.

Well, Bibby is a sure thing, and Law hasn't proved a thing yet. Bibby had an off year; a change of scenery could do him good. People were thinking that Vince Carter was on the decline, before he was traded to the Nets. I'm not comparing players, just don't count Bibby short just yet, particularly if he were to end up with a new club.

Acie Law without a long range shot? I don't know. When I watched him at A&M he looked like he could hit any shot on the court. My complaint would be with his passing, but Bibby's not a stellar passer either.

I did this trade with my NBA 2K8 game and it worked out well for both teams. My Kings got a future star and the Hawks got their 50+ win team. I know its just a simulation, but who knows (it also helps the Hawks that Horford is an absolute beast in that game).

The Hawks is badly managed but I doubt they are this bad; giving away their #2 overall pick and another lottery pick for a two-year rental of Mike Bibby. If they have any sense left they wouldn't do it.

Just can't see the Hawks giving away their rookie for Bibby - Perhaps Williams, Claxton and filler/ender? I'd do the trade in a heartbeat to get our hands on Williams (has not lived up to his potential at all in the first couple of years)
