Kings get #5 pick

Come on guys say it with me

IN PETRIE WE TRUST!!!!!

we have capspace and a top 5 pick.... its not so bad.

Yup, its not so bad. Initially I was disappointed. But such is life.

We roll with the punches and we can still get a very very good player. Nbadraft.net has Wesley Johnson at #4 since 5/11/10. If he was out for us and turns out to be the best talent, I say we take him even if Cousins is still available. A lot of things are going to change once the workouts starts.

If we can't land Cousins then for me it's between Aldrich and Udoh for the 5th pick.

I want to see the Kings have a few really good big-men workouts. Let's invite Monroe, Whiteside, Udoh, Aldrich, Orton, and Ed Davis for one huge work out.

After what happened last year, I'm not so worried. Am I bummed we didn't get higher? Yes. I just believe in the end that we'll be okay.

Mitch Richmond was drafted #5.

I just did a quick scan through the #5's and it's like 80% we get a good-great player.

I think Wes Johnson is the bpa, Aldrich is the safest big, and Monroe has the best (although maybe not a good) chance at being a go-to scoring big.

Meh.. He's a fine college player but he's not the typical size of a PF (on the small side).. Plus he does not have a SF type of game.. I think I would pass.

I have no idea where you got that from but you're wrong. He's probably the best pure shooter in the lotto and his game fits better with Tyreke than anyone else in this entire draft. Reminds me a little bit of Danny Granger.

Yeah Johnson is a good shooter. If you look at his shooting form, thats what you want to teach the kids. Shooting is actually one of his strongest abilities. He would work next to Tyreke.

Workouts will shuffle most of the picks from #2 on down. I wouldn't be suprise if Wesley Johnson gets picked as high as #3 if he shows well in the workouts.

Each draft is different, and every GM is different. Just because #5 has a good history doesn't mean anything for the draft next month

These are the 2 latest Tweets on DraftExpress:

Wes Johnson & Brewer definitely can't play together at 2/3- no shot-creating ability there at all and Cousins' trade value will be sky high.

W/progress Corey Brewer made this year & the obviously huge talent disparity, I'd be very surprised if Minnesota took Johnson over Cousins.

Not sure who's making them but I think it's Jonathon Givony

Johnson is Shawn Marion with a jumper and somewhat less athleticism.

So, from what I can tell by lurking on various message boards:
Nets fans think this is a two player draft (Wall, Turner).
Wolves fans think this is a three player draft (Favors)
Kings fans think this is a four player draft (Cousins)
Warriors fans think this is a five player draft (Johnson)

Everybody thinks they got screwed (well, except Washington and Philly).

I think we are going to grab Aminu... If he impresses in the workouts like tyreke did were going to grab that kid. His weakness was shooting but i've heard he has improved their. His upside is as high as anyone in this draft in case anyone has forgotten... Including Wall and Turner.

Take Johnson, IMO take BPA .

He's just not that great of a player.. He's probably the first player after the huge dropoff of talent after the 4th pick, but he's miles away from top 4 even if picked 5th.. That's how bad this draft is for the Kings..

With Johnson we get a SF.. OK... Casspi, Greene, and Garcia.. Nocioni as well.. So how would Johnson make this team better if in his first year he is splitting minutes with the veterans? He doesn't.. Not at all. The only reason we would get better is because of chemistry and one more year of experience for everyone.

I have NO idea who the Kings draft with the 5th pick. From 5th to about 13th you have equal talent, and potential. So we could have had the 10th pick and still got the guy we are probably going to get at 5th (talent wise) because it goes 1.2.3.4.............................................................5-13.
