Kings fans going to Feb. 20 Clippers game

A Soggy Waffles banner will look like just another clippers fan, thank God. A Kings fan who would diss his own player like that is an embarrassment to real Kings fans. Luckily, our KF group is gonna be showing their support loud and strong without the need to be stupid about it.

I heard the Kings player intros but didn't hear a word from Jerry or Grant about KF in the house. I certainly hope the organization will at least recognize the dedication of those guys and gals, especially CruzDude for setting this all up! I do know the players will appreciate it.

:D

Thus far I've heard cowbells AND a chant of "De-fense!" when the Clippers had the ball. I do believe we're in the house, Kings fans!

A very loud male Kings fan has now shouted "LET'S GO KINGS!" at least three times, clearly audible on the Kings broadcast. I'm hoping Grant and Jerry - or maybe Kayte - will at least mention our folks during one of the breaks.

Must be one helluva shock for Clippers fans.

:p

They just showed our folks. I'm guessing it was bajaden and Mrs. bajaden. Jerry and Grant talked about 26 Kings fans from the San Diego area making the trip to LA. Guess that's close enough. :D

I mentioned this in the game thread. I sure hope it was the folks from here.

It was. I recognized bajaden. I just didn't get enough time to focus on anyone else. Kennadog is there so I know I could spot her, but I'm recording the game so I don't want to pause or rewind.

Got a text from CruzDude. Says they have great seats and they're sitting right behind 86 Israeli fans all rooting for Omri. That's close to an entire lower section of pure Kings fans!!!

Whoooooooo!!!!!

Okay, they just gave props to CruzDude aka Rick Fay and showed the group. Didn't mention Kingsfans.com however...
But our folks look good!!!

:D

We showed up, but the team was a little flat. We were the loud ones shouting defense in the second half. Boy did we hear it from the Clips fans. I asked them if they only got up on their feet and got loud at games when they felt out-classed by the other team's fans. :p I mean it was awfully quiet in there till we started chanting defense in the second half.

Other than yelling taunts back at us, the only other time I saw Clips fans on their feet was for freebie handouts.

On the other hand, I came away feeling sorry for the Clipper fans. They have a nice arena in Staples, but not very welcoming arena operators, whoever they are.

Our thunder stix were confiscated at the door as "noisemakers" and because we might block someone's view. A few snuck them past security anyway. Cowbells were banned. (Someone took them back to their car, since some were personal cowbells.) No signs allowed. Before the game I saw an usher telling a couple of guys to put away the Israeli flags. They brought them out anyway. I'm telling you, it felt like any fan-like behavior was basically discouraged. I think security is important, but so is a good time and fun for the fans.

We are so lucky to have MSE as owners. They want the fans to be loud. They want fans to express their support. Heck, the Maloofs are as loud as any fans in Arco. Low league attendance or not, Arco has more life in it this year (not last) as Staples did tonight with a decent crowd.

Food service lines at half time were actually worse than Arco and when I finally got up there, they'd run out of hot dogs!

I'm sorry the Kings did not perform well tonight. But Kingsfans.com folks get an A++! :D

Oh yeah, I ran into Sactownfan at the concession stand. Very nice guy. And everyone else was so nice, too. :D

Cruzdude, we had a lot of fun and appreciate you putting this together. It was cool meeting different Kingsfans from South Cali. Our chants of "defense" seemed to work for like 3-4 minutes, when we closed the gap to only five points. Sactownfan, I do remember seeing you down there. Good job representing brother!

it was nice meeting a few of you and seeing all the rest of you guys there... i was loving the de-fense chants! that was awesome!

If you guys meet up again for a game im going with you guys for sure... i wanted to get in on the chanting and the thunder sticks....

bummer of a game tho... Landry looked really off and finally started coming around too late... he'll be really good once he gets comfortable...

oh well still really awesome to see Kingsfans.com being represented in southern california!

I'm guessing all the problems you encountered/others encountered are because donald sterling is a garbage owner. His other businesses supposedly are low class/not welcoming and the guy is a cheapskate. I don't know how much of that is to do with the tight security/lack of fan atmosphere but I would guess at least some of it?

I suspect the problem is more because the Clippers are the ugly stepchildren in Staples, and the security, etc. is provided by the arena and not the team. From what I've heard elsewhere, the Lakers and folks who actually consider Staples theirs would be just as happy if Sterling and company never stepped foot in their arena again.

if you watch the game when spencer hawes misses that dunk at the end of the i think 1st quarter

you can see me stand up to cheer when it looks like hes gonna dunk it then put my hands on my head in disbelief after he misses it... lol! SOGGY WAFFLES!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Cruzdude thanks again!!!!!!!!!!
Kingsfans.con we represented and DAMMMMM, I proud of how we represented!!!!! I just fell sorry for the clip fans. Well, except for the clown or was he a midget, in the clipper suit that told Kingsfans.com to leave because we were surporting our KINGS!!!

Just wanted to thank CruzDude for including me and my girl last night. I met him at the Z-bar before the game. Got over to Staples and caught the KingsFans fam on the way to the tunnel. He stopped, made sure we got a pass, and included...AWESOME. Thanks again!
Also..just to let everyone know...my tickets were directly behind the one they call "ClipperDarrell"...and it was hilarious. Everytime KingsFans got up with the Defense chants, he got irritated. He was looking around at the rest of the so-called Clipper fans with the "how are we letting this happen" look. LOL It was nice to clap and root right in his ear as well. For some reason he wanted to tell Tyreke he was ugly everytime he shot a freethrow....had to let him know our lottery pick is on the floor...isn't he?

The Kings were definitley represented well....too bad our boys didn't play up to the support.

Thanks again CruzDude!!! :D

It was a great night, except for the game results. Thanks again Cruz Dude. Highlights for me included meeting the group, the tunnel, our defense chant, and watching the Staple Center security unsuccessfully trying to confinscate Isreali flags from the fans. We turned the place out. Next year let's do it even bigger KingsFans!!!!

Thanks CruzDude for all the hard work in putting the event together for the KingsFans group.

My wife and I had a fantastic time.

I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet Kingsfans at the ESPN-Zone prior to the game. There wasn't a whole lot of time to talk during the game so it was great to have the opportunity to talk hoops at the ESPN-Zone.

I also want to give huge props to Mike0476. He took a lot of video and pictures which I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing once he makes them available. Also, I believe he was the primary voice leading the De-Fense charge when our team was making their move and getting the score down to 5 in the 4th.

On that topic, the noise our group was making with the De-Fense chants and thundersticks were by far the loudest show of support during team play. Cruzdude gave some of the Israeli Casspi fans some thundersticks so they were joining in for the team support which was great.

It was odd that the Staple Center security tried to confiscate all the visible thundersticks at the entrance, but then when we brought them out in the 2nd half and were making a huge show of Kings support they didn't try to take them away. With the way we were getting the Clipper fans all riled up, I was sure that someone was going to come over and try to take them all away.

If another event is put together we'll be there.

What made me so very proud of all of you was how loud you were, how supportive you were and how classy you were. You truly represented all of us stuck at home in proper fashion.

Again, major thanks to CruzDude for having this idea and seeing it to fruition. It took a lot of time and energy but he pulled it off with aplomb.

I've watched the game twice now, fast-forwarding to the couple of group shots. I look forward to seeing Mike0476's pictures so I can put names with some of the faces.

This is just another reason why I firmly believe Kingsfans.com is the best board around!!!

:D

Thanks for Cruzdude and everyone involved to help make this a memorable trip to my son and I. (I believe Kingsfans were directly responsible for that mini-run at the end of the 4th quarter!) We were commenting on how quiet that place was for a basketball game, with the exception of our vocal Kingsfans group...Looking forward the next one!

Thanks for all the comments! It was great hearing all the details. So happy that everyone had a great time irregardless of the score. Way to go, KingsFans.commers. You made us so proud!!!!!!! :)

Well,KingsFans, we did it. All 25 of us plus a bunch of others. My own overview of our group and the goings on at Staples.

The ESPN Zone across the street from Staples was a great venue to get us all together. They were really helpful and took care of us well. Even found some SacKings fans (have to say SacKings as there were a couple of very loud LA Kings hockey fans taking exception to our shirts) while there. Several of us talked about the importance of having an arena downtown instead of out in the suburbs (The lakers original Forum was out by Hollywood park) and how great the overall environment was for our group.

Everyone in our group made it in time to go to Staples and make the "Fan Tunnel" experience. Keenadog won the prize for coming the longest distance to our game, 380 miles from Yuba City to Downtown LA. mike0476 was second from Sacramento (355) and Bajaden came in third at 180 miles. Thanks to them for their efforts to join us.

As our group gathered to enter Staples center we hit the first bump in the road: security confiscated ALL our signs, posters, banner, visible thunder sticks and cowbells. They did not allow one piece of identification of our group into the arena. They did let us keep our group T-shirts on!!! Previous arrangements had been made with Kings media to have the TV folks film us during the game when we put up our group banner. They killed that bit of fan support.

The real issue was that nobody at the Clips was of any help and no one informed us of any restrictions. Everything we had was 100% allowable in Arco and at other arenas. One local said we could have brought all those items to a Laker game!! Then we had to go through metal detectors AND wand searches just to get in the front door. Downtown LA I guess.

We finally, after walking back and forth around half the arena, someone got us to the team entry tunnel before the Kings came out on the court. The first 12 Kings came and and everyone got a first hand chance to high 5 every King who came out. Tyeke and one other came out 3-4 min later and he high fived all of us as well.

Just before all that bajaden and I had a chance to met and chat with Jerry Reynolds and Fat Lever from the radio side. Fat got the details about our group, as much as he could remember, and was the credit to get our mention on the air on radio and TV. My thanks to Fat Lever for his help.

We got to our seats and minutes later some 86 Isreali fans filled in the 5 rows in front of us. So as VF21 pointed out, yes we did have almost an entire section with over a 100 fans, well 25 kings fans and 86 Omri fans for sure. After we all got into the game and our cheering, in the second half they joined us and boy were we really a LOUD group cheering for the Kings.

Up until the second half and our boisterous cheering, the Clips fans were mostly silent throughout the enormous, cold, unfriendly cavern that is Staples. Then our cheering at least got some clips to respond with cheering at us. But funny, the Clips cheered for buckets made and not as much in second half until our group incited them to action. Even then, it was pitiful how small and far less boisterous they were.

I was not seen in the TV views as I had to sit a couple of rows down and across the aisle as my long legs were impossible to fit in our cattle car seats. The beautiful lady next to bajaden was actually my wife, Mrs. CruzDude, now the KingsFans TV star.

I personally want to thank every KingsFans who was part of our group for their help, support and voices while at the game. A really great group of fun folks from all over SoCal. Everyone got to meet everyone and the chat up at ESPN Zone was a ball. We invited "period" to join us too. He is the luckiest guy I know: his girl friend bought him tickets for Kings-Clips for Valentines Day!! Three cheers for his beautiful lady!! Hip Hip Horray!!

In sum, the GOOD THINGS:

- KingsFans are now proven the best fans in the west and the NBA. all great people and fun and sharing the same thing…….supporting our Kings

- ESPN Zone was a diamond in the rough for our meeting place and very helpful and friendly to us "foreigners".

- Seat location was great, the best $54 seats I've ever had at an NBA game (seat comfort a different story and impossibly cramped for those of us over about 6-1 or so).

Quite a learning experience as words such as SNAFU and FUBAR arose when I was asked to explain the situation. But our KingsFans had a great time and that is the best reward. Thanks to everyone who came as part of our group. See listing below.

I'm looking forward to the pictures. I think there's some kind of "album" feature for the board so maybe this can be the first of many new KF.com adventures for both road games and home appearances.

Your effort is truly and greatly appreciated, CD!

Made it back home and its a good thing I'm typing because I'm too hoarse to talk. It was a lot of fun, particularly the defense chant. We really riled up the Clipper fans and actually got them to chant defense for their own team. Up until when we started making noise, the place was like a morgue.

Anyway we showed them what real fans sound like at a game. It was a great group of people and I want to give special credit to Kennadog for coming all the way from Yuba city. She's one spunky lady.. Oh, and by the way. For those that saw me sitting next to that lovely lady. She happens to be Mrs Cruzdude and not Mrs bajaden. Mi espousa was home tending to our four dogs who she refuses to leave for any period of time. I would like to say something nice about the arena other than security was very nice about confiscating our signs, but I can't. They have a lot of strange rules, but then, only in LA... I'll give you one for instance. If you get up during the game to go and get a drink or food and try and return to your seat. Not going to happen until there's a time out. Apparently you can leave your seat while they're playing. But you can't return while they're playing. So you stuck in this small hallway with about 40 other people trying to get back to their seats. Ya just got to love it.

Anyway, other than the lose, its was a sucess. So lets do it again. I think a party bus would be a lot of fun. Anyway, I'll leave the details in Cruzy's hands.
