So, outside of our single stretch of glory years, we've been over .500 at this point of the season three times in the Sacramento era. Stand up, Kings fans. Your loyalty is noted.

I was also looking at that 1998 season record yesterday. It's always associated with the birth of that classic Kings team and wanted to check out their game log. It's crazy how excited I was about that team at the time and they were still sitting there with a sub-500 record at this point in the season (in a strike shortened season at that). They finished real strong with I believe 8 or 9 wins out of their last 10 to make it into the playoffs. Super exciting time and maybe helps to put some perspective on things when there is a meltdown on this board after losing a tough game on the road against the pacers :)

One other thing that caught my eye in the game logs that season. I had forgotten Webber's first home game as a King: 25 point (12 for 16 shooting), 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, 9 blocks....HOLY $#@#!
 
Is it just me, or is Golden One not rockin' like it should be given the Kings success this year? I am not being a debbie downer, I just remember watching the games in Arco (on tv, I've never been to a game in either arena) and it seemed loud af. Acoustics? Of all the game highlights I've watched it seems like Dallas has the loudest buzziest arena. I don't watch much college ball but the one thing I do appreciate is the rowdy atmosphere.

For those who have been to games in both places what are your thoughts?
 
It's not as loud and they were having huge issues handling concessions quickly, so too many people were not in their seats during large chunks of the 1st 3 quarters.

Also, season tickets were down this year. So games haven't been sellouts.

@John Galt have they gotten better at the concessions, I haven't been to a game in a few weeks.

At 14-12, the Kings are catching the eyes of pundits and peers alike.
Kevin Durant, never shy in his praise for the Kings, once again shared his positive outlook on the squad.
"I feel like the West - the teams that are supposed to make the next jump in their progression, like [Sacramento]. They're making that next jump...I like [Sacramento]," KD explained.
The former MVP also went on to show appreciation for head coach Dave Joerger.

Not to be outdone, Simmons showed love to point guard De'Aaron Fox, calling him a "special" player.

"He's a possible All-NBA guy in a couple years," Simmons continued. "I love how infectious he is."

I can dream, but this Durant guy could possibly fill a whole at SF lol. I heard he's pretty good. What if he shocked the world and came to Sac? Like I said, I can dream haha.

so since he is praising Sacramento not once, but twice this season. When he comes to Golden 1 Center on Saturday, the Kings fans should make signs such as "KD to Sac" or "Sign with us"

The Minni loss shows the weaknesses of the bench, especially on defense. The Wolves relentlessly drove to the paint to score, without a care in the world. Opposing teams are scared of the Kings fast break pace, Fox, and the 3 point shooting of the Kings. But they definitely aren't scared of the interior defense of the Kings. The book is that the opposition should relentlessly attack the paint of the Kings. That's exactly what the Wolves did. The Kings have no shot blocker they can count on and they don't have the long athletic bodies that you need to defend against the better teams in this league. Their best interior defender is Bjelica, and that's just not good enough. Bagley's return will help, but isn't enough to put this team into the elite category. Santa needs to bring some more long athletic bodies for this team to take another big step up.

I’ve been to 4 games this season so far, and three went down to the end of the fourth and the place was pretty loud. Not glory days playoff loud, but it was rocking.

The beginning of the third is always the most quiet for the crowd, most of the lower seats of the lower bowl are still doing the halftime food thing for the higher dollar seats. Golden one isn’t the only arena that has this situation. It’s definitely noticeable on the TV too. Just straight up empty seats
 
It’s nice to read something nice about our team. I know we collectively as a group shun outside reports and whatnot but they are essential to improving our image and our chances in free agency. Plus it does some good to my soul reading positive things about us.

At 35 games, it's even more convincing. This is only the 9th year (out of 34) to get past the 15-20/.429 ceiling. '98-9 was an anomaly in multiple respects, but in every other year we had a reasonable idea of where things would end up by this point in the season, and three times out of four, it was the lottery. We did miss the playoffs once while at this level, since the west was tough then too, but at very least, we're minimizing the impact of the draft pick that we won't get.

A public service announcement:
