Wecome, fellow Kings fans, to As the Basketball Spins... I don't know about anyone else but the one thing I miss the most about the GLORY DAYS was the lack of drama. It gets so tiring to always be wondering if KT is gonna be unhappy about his PT, if Bibby is worried about the trade talks, if Artest has exploded or is packing for a move to somewhere/anywhere, etc. I want to go back to having fun, to rooting for a team that's having fun. I guess I'll just have to wait it out like everyone else...

It appears the NEW purple slippers were properly indoctrinated into being Kings lucky charms. The first time I wore them the Kings won so that's a good thing.

Here's what the Bee has to say about tonight's game:

Kings (12-14) at Los Angeles Clippers (12-16)

KINGS OUTLOOK

The Kings have yet to post a three-game winning streak this month, and pulling this one off would be extra valuable considering the divisional rival factor. The Clippers, like the Kings, are big underachievers in the Western Conference, with no shortage of talent but a mix that just hasn't seemed to work. Yet history remains heavily on their side when they face the Clippers, as the Kings have won 14 consecutive matchups against their "other" Southern California foe. It is the third-longest such streak in the NBA, and the Clippers haven't downed the Kings since Jan. 18, 2003, a 112-107 win in Los Angeles.

CLIPPERS OUTLOOK

The secret has long been out that the Clippers are looking to make an impact trade and turn their season around, and the Kings' Ron Artest is the guy they want helping with the U-Turn. Swingman Corey Maggette has let his dissatisfaction be known to management through his agent, and the Clippers have reportedly offered him for Artest in a possible deal the Kings have seemed both hot and cold on in recent days. The inspiration in it all has everything to do with the Clippers' recent play, as they've lost 14 of their last 20 games and seven of their last nine.

KEY MATCHUP

Kevin Martin vs. Cuttino Mobley - Martin will be eager to erase the memory of the last meeting with the Clippers. Facing his former teammate, Martin was 1 of 8 from the floor, having started by missing his first four shots and playing just 23 minutes in the Kings' 93-80 win at Arco Arena.

PROBABLE STARTERS

Kings - Bibby, Martin, Salmons, Thomas, Miller

Clippers - Livingston, Mobley, Thomas, Brand, Kaman

Tonight's game is being carried on News10, so that means no House Party Live. That might be just as well. The Bee also had a little tidbit about Jim Kozimor and Grant Napear not getting along. Hey, that's one battle I'd actually pay to see on PPV.

Media Insider: Christmas might be over, but wish list rolls on

A Media Insider grab bag of hope for the new year (or any year):

...Koz vs. Grant -- It's no secret that Jim Kozimor and Grant Napear have more of a forced working relationship on TV and radio. So let them air it out in a side room, but arm Kozimor with a hockey stick just in case...

;)

As I always do, I'll remind people that this board and everything that happens here is a result of the dedication and generosity of our board owner. Without him, this place quite simply wouldn't exist for us to come to to share our joys, sorrows, celebrations, frustrations, etc. There are other Kings boards but none of them seems to have the sense of community we have here. It's a wonderful thing but it does cost to keep Kingsfans.com up and running.

If you would like to help defray the costs of keeping KF the #1 Sacramento Kings Online Community, please take a moment to consider becoming a Contributing Member. You're under no obligation, of course, but if you do decide to contribute, you get a larger avatar, the ability to create your own custom title, more storage space for PMs, AND first refusal of Kingsfans.com events as small tokens of our thanks for helping keep KF going.

Okay, commercial is over... ;)

If you haven't checked out the CHAT at mIRC, server irc.bludgeon.org, channel #kingsfans, why not do so tonight? We have a solid core of people who are usually there during the game but new folk are always welcome.

And if you're not a regular follower of piksi's game discussion thread, I can only assume you've been living under a rock and haven't heard the buzz. Piksi's pre-game intros are legend. His isn't the typical "rah rah Homer" view, but he puts it out there and you can either love him or hate him.

After the game, be sure and stick around for the release of the Bricklayer grades for the game. You may not agree with Brick's grades but they're always the basis for some pretty good discussion.

With Artest reportedly out from a knee bruise suffered in the Sixers game when he collided with a player who didn't even play ( ;) ), it'll be interesting to see if Corey Maggette plays. If he DOESN'T, I expect the rumors of the pending Kings-LAC trade to become the most popular topic of the evening. ESPN might even lead with it...

Even if I was fully in favor of the trade, I would love to see it not even be under consideration just because of the lunacy of some of the national reporters. I said it at the beginning and I'll say it again... I am so tired of the soap opera that has become nearly the nightly fare of Maloof Sports and Entertainment. I just want our team back.

GO KINGS!!!

Just wondering how many fans from LA are going to be there tonight, usually when we play the Clippers it's like Arco Arena South. I'm going is anybody else from here going?

And apparently the "collison" Ron Artest had with Al Henderson in the Sixers game wasn't as serious as first thought. He's in LA and Grant says he'll start...
